That's right. This forum is LOADED with negative threads on O's. I gotta tell you that despite the owner and his comments I will once again root for the Orioles in AL. It's going to be a great season in many ways since I now have a favorite team also in NL, the Nationals. I don't care what people think of the O's staff. I lived in the DC area for two years and I've got some great memories from the oriole park. I know a lot of people on this board dislike the orioles, but like GWB said on Conan Ó'Brien "Bring it on" !!!!

You got the best of both worlds. Know a guy that likes the Redskins in the NFC and spends equal time checking out the Steelers. I don't bother him, though cause I don't which way the wind will blow with him.

It's the Nats, and only the Nats, for me. I'll never root for the O's again.

Yea me either...especially with an owner like Peter Angelos...I wish the Redskins owner would've did the Ravens like that when they came to Baltimore.

yeah dude, F the O's, I was going to be a fan, but baltimore didn't embrace the Nats so I won't embrace the O's.

It would definately be the Nats for me had they existed when I was living there (1997-1999). After being a O's fan for 8 seasons I can never ditch the O's. The same thing with Redskins, it's always going to be the Redskins cause that's been my team from the start. I understand Angelos is a jerk, but I would never ditch the skins just for a dumb_$$ owner.
BTW, Baltimore is always going to be close to my heart since Johns Hopkins Hospital is very special for me.

I've rooted for the Redskins/Bullets/Capitals/Orioles my entire life. Now the Nats are my #1 team but it's impossible for me to to cut all ties to the O's. I've never switched teams in the past and I don't intend to start now. I can't help but to root for Melvin, Rodrigo, Brian Roberts, Matos, Bigbie, Raffy, Sydney Fat-son, Javy, Cabrera, etc. That said, I will make a concious effort not to give Angelos any of my money unless I'm going to Camden Yards. Angelos is a selfish, greedy jerk who deserves to be shunned by the TRUE BASEBALL FANS in the DC area.
I plan to go to 10 or so Nats games this year and maybe an O's game or two. RFK is going to have an incredible atmosphere because we had to fight so hard to get this team (against all these weenies who came out of the woodwork to go against baseball in DC, man are they a bunch of a-holes!). Nats fans attendance will overtake Orioles within the first five years if not this year. Go Nats AND O's!
PS. Yankees suck.

Thanks to Joe for the initial assessment and Keino for adding to it. Count me in as a Trifecta! I have not even looked at an Oriole box ascore. That interest is gone!

I just don't understand how people can be a "fan" of a team and leave them just because there is a new team that is closer.... I wonder how many Skins fans we lost when the Panthers came into the league? I hate Philly fans so much that I never want another Philadelphia team to win a championship ever, but I still consider myself a Phillies fan...

I'm with you, I still love the O's. Angelos is a total clown but some day he'll be gone and the O's will remain, I'll always love them.

Nats. Just glad D. C. got a team period! :)
Skins, no else will ever do. If by some forsaken reason I lose my mind and never watch a single sports event again, bet on it, that the Nats and the Skins are the only two my teams in their respective sports. I have always watched and appreciated tbe Bullets of the 70's and loved to watch those games, but I have never been a BASKETBALL fan. Not sure why and it took me until I was in the Army around 30 years old back in the 80's to understand the game in its entirety.
I feel no shame however, as there are many who fall short in understanding Hockey too, even though they are older or younger than I, but still love the Skins and baseball in D. C. The O's were mainly clung to by default when Texas bought the old Senators. Understandable, but I only kept up baseball, for certain historic effects of MLB when the Nats left in '71.

You root for the home team because that is the team you can go see live, that is the team you see on local television, and that is the team you read about in your newspaper, that is the team all your friends root for. I don't understand why so many people root for SOMEONE ELSE'S home team. Being a Cowboys fan who grew up in the DC area makes no sense. The reason why I rooted for the Orioles is because they were the closest team but DC didn't really have a home team. If you have a home team, you should root for them.

I'm definitly rooting for the Nat's more than the O's but after 17 years of them being my team i just can't kick them to the curb.
