this Spring. Wow, these guys are doign fantastic and it appears they are set with Livan Hernandez being the ace, followed by Esteban Loaiza, Tony Armas, Tomo Ohka,a nd Zach Day.
The five presumed starters -- Hernandez, Tony Armas Jr., Esteban Loaiza, Tomo Ohka and Zach Day -- have thrown 60 2/3 innings against major league clubs this spring, walking only nine with 25 strikeouts and a 2.97 ERA.
Check these individuals out...
Livan Hernadez, 2-1, 20 Innings, 9 Ks, 4 runs, ERA of 1.80
Tomo Ohka, 1-0, 8 innings, 7 Ks, 1.13 ERA
Esteban Loiza, 1-0, 14 innings, 9 K's, ERA of 2.57

For Nationals, It's Starting to Take Shape (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A52146-2005Mar20.html)
A good artical from the Post.
The shot off the bat of Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder J.D. Drew came directly at Livan Hernandez, tearing through the perfect Florida afternoon. No need to fret. Hernandez calmly and instinctively stuck up his glove, knocked down the ball, picked it up and tossed it to first.
That was it, the final out in six shutout innings for Hernandez, the latest answer to what, when spring training began, appeared to be a string of serious questions about the Washington Nationals' starting rotation. But with two weeks to go before Opening Day, Hernandez and the other starters are healthy, happy and -- with two starts apiece remaining till the regular season -- nearly ready

i think our starters are going to be good. they've been good with low ERA's but been on bad offensive teams. as long as our Offense scores some runs, we should be a good team.

Just a followup, today the Nats had a 1-0 shutout, moving to 11-7 overall, but even better news, Zach Day who solidified the number 5 rotation spot a few days ago, pitched 5 innings today, giving up 2 hits and 0 runs! Great job.

this is great. if everyone produces we will come out of nowhere. No one thinks we are going to win anything. We are supposedly in "the toughest division in baseball."
