Peppers, but I don't think anybody here is better than Strahan was three or four years ago (before he got older.)

Freeney for me. 18 sacks top five in tackles,.

I said Freeney because I watched him absolutely dominate Jon Ogden last year which I have NEVER seen a DE do. Although I think Peppers is an extremely close second.

Jason Taylor. Freeney and Peppers might have higher sack total, but Taylor is unbelievable.

Peppers. He may be the best athlete in the NFL.

Peppers. He does things that DEs are not supposed to be able to do.

I voted Freeney as well. Ogden is the best Tackle in the game...and Freeney made him look bad on national TV.

I say Peppers second...and Upshaw in third. (just kidding)

This will be a close poll.

Julius Peppers. He's the most complete, IMO.

Voted Freeney = a left tackle's worst nightmare. Does anyone remember the Bear's Alex Brown making Samuels look stupid last year? Brown is no Freeney or Peppers, but he impresses me.

Freeny gets manhandled on the run.

As I suspected, My #1 and #2 are both lagging in the vote. For me this came down to Simeon Rice and Jason Taylor.

While I believe Peppers to have the most talent, he hasn't consistantly done it the way Rice and Taylor have(yet). Both are all-around DE's not just pass-rush specialists.

The winner is hands down J.P. he dominates games. Not only that but he is so athletic there thinking of playing him at TE a little this year mostly goal line of course. He also is a play maker he's always around the ball.

Richard seymour is a good De but look at the defense he has played on. His coach is a master mind. They have it to easy and has too much support.

Although i did see footage of the Freeney Vs. Ogden matchup, and heard soundbytes of Ogden complaining about how he just could not stop him, im going to go with Peppers. Honestly, how many D-Ends catch an interception and run it back for a TD? And how many D-Ends grab a fumbled ball before it hits the ground and run it back for a TD? Its still a close call, but im just gonna go with the games ive seen. However, to make a case for Freeney, look at the colts' D-Line and look at the Panthers' D-Line. Maybe i should have voted Freeney...

dwight freeney. 16 sacks last year and 14 the year before, plus he can stop the run. how can he not be the best DE in the league? he's a beast.

had to go with Peppers...........but as far as a speedy pass rusher Freeney is a beast- he might not be the biggest DE but that spin move of his ...awsome

I went with Freeney because he just has no support or help on the Indy defense. He has no one to help draw the double team away and has less time to get to the qb because the corners are not giving him any time to get there.

Yes. Rice is the best all-around end, followed closely by Taylor. They have well-honed, complete games. Rice is a tremendous athlete and professional in the locker room. Taylor shows amazing production over a span of years at a 'tweener size. He may be Miami trade-bait if the 'phins go to the 3-4.

Former UNC basketball player Julius Peppers!!!

FYI - In case you missed it, the Tar Heels are the 2005 National Champions!!!

Went with Freeney, I love Peppers(He did great for me in Fantasy last year). And Rice nad Taylor are both beasts. But after what I watched him do to Jonathan Ogden, I can't possibly vote for anyone else.

Best pass rusher is probably Freeney.

Exactly. I feel too many voters are caught up on Sacks and freakish speed/ability, when the only thing that matters is Production and the ability to play both the run and pass with equal vigor

when its all said and done, if he keeps it up, peppers could redefine the de position. he is such an incredible athletic creature. that play where he had a sack, caught the fumble and left everyone in his dust for a td was ridiculous. speed kills.

I guess you missed where Vick made him look really stupid many times. And how does playing Wideout make him the best DE by the way?

silveranblack

Any time a d-end can play wide out makes him a stand out guy he is one of the best if not the best D-end.

So....if Lamont Jordan can also punt and run the trainer's room, that makes him the best Running Back?
