Imagine if Mike Williams drops that we take him @9 and @25 grab either Heath Miller or Matt Jones. We can play miller at TE or if we took jones he can play H-back and slide Cooley out to TE. Imagine CP/S.Moss/MW/Miller/Cooley or CP/S.Moss/MW/Cooley/Matt Jones...we'd be scary in the red zone either way...besides remember it was our offense that was awful last year not our defense...we get lavar back and yes we lost smoot/pierce but even if we're just a top 10 defense next year with that offense we won't be asking anywhere near as much from them again...We'd be putting up 25-28 points a game! Thoughts?

I would love to see Williams and Miller in a Redskin uniform next season. It would completely change our Offense next year, and probably I would bet win us at least 3 more games next season. I've wanted this since I first heard of the #25 trade. Problem is if we go that route and our Defense stinks to high heaven next season then we've pulled a Cowboys move (good D one year, left alone in the offseason, next season its all screwed up) and dont have a #1 pick next season to help fill those holes. So because of this I expect us to go Defense then Offense and we split. I would rather see us double down and get those two players if possible and let it ride. Seems to me its all a gamble either way we go

I like it. I think that Harris and Wilds can do the job this year if needed. However I think if we can trade that 25 for an established corner, like Clements I think we have to jump at the idea. However you are right in saying that a better offense ill only make our defense better.

You might be able to find a video of him on nfl.com, but Miller has the skills as shockey does just not the attitude or any baggage w/him, plus Miller probably won't break a ton of tackles like Shockey sometimes does but a CB will not be able to bring him down by himself.

If we could get Williams and say Miller, the skins wouldnt have enough balls to spread between Williams, Miller, Cooley, Portis, Moss, and Patten. That would be 3 recievers, 2 TE/H-Backs and a running back and only 1 ball. But that would be a lot of weapons, i could easily see our offense in the top 10 after that. What a group we would have............all our defense would have to be is average, since we all now it will probably be better than average......can u say super bowl? lol would be nice

Isn't Miller coming off a serious knee injury?

Isn't Miller coming off a serious knee injury?
no, he had a sports hernia, that's why he hasn't been able to work out, this is the only injury he has ever had in his college career and it seems like the people at espn are making a huge deal about his injury history......

I just think the Miller camp forgets that a TE will have a ton of blocking responsibilities and even if he caught a bunch of passes it would just take balls away from Cooley.

That would be a dream come true - Mike Williams AND Miller/Jones - sweet!!!

There is something to that, Smoak, but I think there is enough flex in the offense to accomodate it. By that I mean, the H-back is a combination fullback/TE and there isn't any reason Cooley couldn't block as often as Miller. In other words, just because C. Didier wasn't the greatest blocker and wasn't asked to do it as much doesn't mean the 6'3" 265# Cooley couldn't be asked to do it more often.
If anything, I think having a real receiving threat on the other side of Cooley might turn some of those 10 yards receptions into 20 yards receptions, for both players. The same could be said of Matt Jones at that position. Although, if we drafted Jones, I might not be surprised to see Jones at H-back and Cooley at TE.

Totally agree, Miller would not fit into the system. Many will agree that he will, but a run first offense needs a blocking TE will average to above average hands, not an average blockers with good hands. Can't wait til we pass on miller.

On tuesday there was a video on NFL.com, should still be up. Its a great vid and worth checking out. This kid is the real deal.
Royal is a decent back up, or ok in a two TE set but isnt the top level TE a true Gibbs offense needs. The skins are going to try and upgrade at TE this draft, whether its heath miller or someone else. The only x factor is if Williams is available at 9 and the skins feel they need to go D at 25. A TE might have to wait till later on and that might not be an upgrade.

Why don't people understand that Miller is a good blocker? He tossed Shawn Merriman around when UVA played Maryland, and played in a run first offense where he was the only receiving threat. I don't get why people think that having him would not be an immediate HUGE upgrade, moreso than we could at any other position.

What does this mean? That Cooley might not get as many TDs because Heath Miller would be a huge endzone target for Ram? Why would it be a problem to have another receiving threat?

Well if we do go with O with both picks , then like we all say here In Gibbs We Trust.

Last season we had all Defense, and no offense. Why worry about not having enough balls to go around? Sounds like a problem I would love to have!
Scoring Offense + Attacking Defense = Playoff Run!

Agreed. The dude is head and shoulders above the rest of the TEs, both as a blocker and receiver. I think he would be a fine fit in DC, despite folks thinking that Miller would take balls away from Cooley.
More offensive threats = a better offense.
TE and H-back in Gibbs offense are seperate positions and Cooley is excelling at H-back. Having an excellent TE doesnt hurt Cooley, it helps the total offense.

That would make sense, seeing as how our defense is terrible. Greg Williams has shown he can do miracles with scrubs, so we don't need a great CB. Gibbs hasn't shown me anything at his offensive ability, so Snyder should help him out and draft ALL OFFENSE THIS DRAFT!

I love your analysis of Heath but you shouldn't make then in reference to Shokey....The guy is overrated.....Biggest Miami prodigy gone bust.....

If MW isnt available and the skins get a 2nd rd pick (and GW feels comfortable with a 2nd rd CB like Bartell), this isnt such a bad idea.
Ya get the big WR and the TE.
I'm not CB expert, but some folx have been arguing that Harris and co. plus a 2nd rounder would be fine. Thoughts?

Sounds about right, unless someone in the FO is head over heels for Matt Jones.
I've been thinking about it more, and (if MW isnt available) i think the skins might trade down from 9, pick up a 2nd rounder (to use on a CB) and still take two offensive players in the 1st - a WR and Miller.

going all out on O would be great except we must have a CB that can make an impact this year........we have to have quality debth and a young stud for the future would be nice........Springs and Harris arn't getting any younger and there is a slim chance of both of them playing 16 games this year and thats not counting the playoffs when we'll need them the most

This would not surprise me at all since I still think our CB. problem is going to be addressed after the June 1st cuts anyway.
