It would not be a smart move to trade our 2 #1's just to get Edwards. My guess is that we called up the teams and offered our nineth pick plus a veteran to see if anyone bites. I could see us offering nineth pick + Santana Moss for a chance at Edwards.

That still leaves us out one reciever or it leaves us out of a good pick...but who knows...

I hope someone has some badd pizza, wakes up and says, "I will trade a high pick for ROD!!!" ie Jerry Mguire.

The 9th and Moss for Edwards would be perfect in my book, but were not going to be this lucky.

I havent given up on Moss. He will be in a Skins uniform this year and he will make some big plays. Gibbs is still high on him and they will work out a deal.

this is nothing against you at all palladia, but this is how i feel when someone feeds me another draft rumor.....http://www.thenflforum.com/vbulletin/images/smilies/blowingup.gif

i personally hope that we dont trade up at all. id rather we trade down and pick up more picks. if we are going to put anyone in a package, why not gardner?

I could definitely see them shopping Moss to trade up for Edwards. After all, how are you going to pay a WR taken at #1/#2 in the draft...and pay Moss a 12 million dollar signing bonus?

Edwards, Patten, Jacobs/Thrash seems a bit more realistic $-wise than Edwards, Moss and Patten...

But who knows...

Guys, goskins36 first replied to this possibility in another thread. This is got to be the even more perfect cenario then what I proposed earlier in a post. Can you imagine we get M. Williams and then trade for a young stud cornerback. This is incredible, if this is to happen. Nobody at 25 is as good as clements is right now and more then likely will never be as good as clements will be. Props to go skins36 for the sugesstion, I believe it is very plausible and would merit discussion. Thanks...

would be happy to see that happen and i agree no cb @25 will probably end up as good as he has

I'm not saying that I like this deal necessarily. But with so many rumors going around about us moving up, you have to wonder what we are offering. Offering our two #1's would be horrible, and I'm sure one of the teams would have taken them gladly. Since it hasn't completed, I've got to think that we offered them less, at least to start. We don't have anything else of value to trade with, so it's got to be a veteran. Moss is holding out for a large contract, and has no salary cap impact. I can't see us paying Moss a large contract, and Edwards a large contract too....

I would love to see us package Gardner in a trade, but realistically, his trade value just isn't all that good...

We do not have to move up because M williams will be there for us at 9. We have been talking up a storm about cornerbacks and that is great because it seems that we do not have an interest in M williams. This is a great smokescreen from Gibbs, and we will get the guy we really want. MIKE WILLIAMS!!! woo hoo!!

i dont think any team in the top 3 will take anything less than both of our picks, plus more. if we give up both picks and some more, ill be upset.

Ummmm....guys....Clements won't agree to a trade unless we sign him to a new contract. No way in hell his would happen ulness we have more cap room than what's been reported.

GoSkins!36
04-22-2005, 01:20 PM
he doesnt have to agree to a trade, there arent no trade clauses in football like there is in baseball, but yeah i wouldnt want to make a trade if we couldnt sign him to a long term deal. if we did draft williams, maybe Gibbs would trade Moss for a second round pick and plus Gardner for a 3rd or 4th rounder, that might clear up enough cap room, plus Synder seems to sneak everybody under the cap somehow, maybe it could work.........

That's my dream scenario (see the "wish list" thread). I don't think we'd have a problem signing Clements to a long term deal since we don't have a #1 pick next year and Coles' money is off the books.

To me, I just don't think the FO would make the trade with Denver to target a specific college player and instead are going to trade that pick for a veteran. If they really wanted Campbell then make the trade with Denver on draft day and not 5 days prior. Can anyone else see through the smoke screen?

If we can walk away from this draft with Mike Williams and Clements that would be a great day. Not sure it could happen but it would be nice.

If that happened, not only would it be a great day, it would be he best offseason the Skins have had in years.

5 draft picks plus more for 1 stinking player? I dont care how good any of the players in the draft are, to do that would be terrible in my eyes

....about us trading up. If we are serious about picking a starting CB or WR, one will be there when we use our #9 pick. The only reason I could see us trading up would be to grab a QB, in which case, Ramsey is traded for pick shortly after. Sorry, I cannot see this happening, not with what JG has been quoted saying so far. Gardner + the #25 pick is a more likely deal on the table.

Our Hidden trade Partner I believe is the Titans at number 6. Our trade package of Moss and pick 9 or Gardner and pick 9 are both appealing to the Titans who lost both Wrs and CB. They hold the 6th pick, this is the perfect spot to draft Mike Williams. This makes sense for the Titans because they could get a WR from the skins and a top CB at pick 9.

Nfl network says Redskins in talks with saints. Possibly giving saints one of there first round picks for one of there veteran players. No trade, deal or name has been disclosed yet. Has anyone else heard this ? And the off-season plot thickens if this happens.

gravesUKRedskin

...for Gardner and our #9 I would want their #6 + another pick. If it was for Moss, the ' + another pick' becomes a higher one.

were not trading moss...and we better not get mike williams if were at pick 6

Davey

I'd take Gardner and the sixth for the ninth pick. It seems unlikely we'll get anything more than a fourth rounder for Gardner. Assuming that the Redskins would pull the trigger on Gardner for a fourth rounder that would be a small price to pay to move up. Obviously any trade up to sixth only makes sense if Gibbs wants someone who's available there but probably won't be three spots later.

I read something along the lines of Darren Howard for #25...there might even be a thread somewhere in here already about it.

Yeah i think it could be real because they (nfl network) said saints don't have a first round pick.

Sal Palantonio has said that the we're trying to trade for the number one spot. He said this like 4 times between SC last ngiht and now...is this credible?Do u think were really going after alex smith?Or is Sal just trying to stir stuff up...?

i really dont think we are going to go for alex smith that would take away our other first rounder and we would still have no reciever or corner

....Depending who you believe, the Skins will be:

Trading up for a QB, or a WR.

Trading down for a QB, or a WR, or a CB.

Trading Gardner for picks, or not.

Or doing nothing and using the picks we have.

If we get the #1 pick, we'll use it on Edwards and not Alex Smith. If that happens, we should get something from the Dolphins for saving their ass, since they will probably trade down if Alex Smith goes first.

In order to get this #1, it's going to take more than our #9 and #25. We'll probably have to throw Moss in there or something, because, unless Mike Nolan actually IS that dumb, it's not going to be enough.

Here is a trade scenario for ya...

I'd like to trade our 7th rounder to the Baltimore Ravens for their WIDESCREEN teletron at M&T Bank Stadium!

Fed Ex needs a better screen!

Saints have the 16th overall pick of the draft.

The trade up rumors are pure smoke screen. How would we pay for the high draft pick? No player is worth breaking the bank, nor all the trades we made to get there.

Draft B. Edwards? We didn't even interview him! Don't you realize Gibbs still has nightmares about Desmond Howard?

We will trade down a little at 9 to get a CB.

The #25 can go the TE, WR or QB.

Trade-up will not happen.

I havent given up on Moss. He will be in a Skins uniform this year and he will make some big plays. Gibbs is still high on him and they will work out a deal.
I haven't even considered him as a Redskin yet. For that, he still has to:

1) Get here to be registered
2) to be a Skin so that he can
3) make my mental roster.

Then and only then can I can give up on him. :D I could trade a player in his current circumstance. I could trade a whole roster of such players.
