Did I hear this right, that Merril Hoge think WR Mike Williams is a 4th Rounder? He'a argued with Kiper about it for 2 days now and I thought I saw him arguing with Golic about something else as well.

Is he just the type who can't stand to have others disagree with him or what?

Nothing surprises me with the stuff that comes out of Hoge's mouth.

He loves the Running Back position soooo much, it clogs his braincells.

If he were an NFL coach, he would cut every WR and have a combination of 4 RB/FBs in on every play.

That's why Merril Hoge is a goon.

I have no problem with Merrill Hoge. He said he doesn't think Williams is worth a top pick, although I don't agree with him I have respect for him arguing his point when a vast majority of the analysts just seem to flow with the majority.

merrill's crazy, hes as close there is to a fan analyst ive seen. even though philadelphia is one of the best teams in the league, he bashes them like CRAZY. yea, i heard that he was bashing williams and rodgers, but he never makes sense

He said that Jason Campbell deserves to be drafted higher than Aaron Rogers, because supposedly Aaron Rogers is just overrated.

I think he's very opinionated............obviously. But, at least he backs up his stances with his observations of players' tapes. Golic strikes me as a typical beer-guzzling fan who is more bent on putting down the person with whom he disagrees.

Actually, he said that Rodgers game does not "translate" to the NFL game. He mentioned that Rodgers typical passes are under 10 yards, and that Rodgers is inaccurate with medium and long-range passes. I have no idea if this is true about Rodgers, but at least Hoge provided an explanation other than Rodgers is merely overrated. On the other hand, I am sick of analysts, like Fatsquerelli and Golic, who seem to only like to hear themselves pontificate, and to not lay out a fact or statistics-based argument for or against a position.

One thing MH has going for him is he really respects Coach Gibbs. Off setting Jaworski who cant stand Gibbs and the Skins since we chewed him up so much in the early 80's.

If there is one reason I was rooting for the Patriots in the superbowl was that I didn't want Jaws to get the satisfaction of his beloved Eagles finally getting one, even though they got "the final piece of the puzzle" in TO last year. god he was convinced they were going to win it all. hahahaha

I'm betting that MW has more sucsess than any other WR in the draft

Mike Mayock of NFL Network is not high on Mike Williams either, claims that MW has trouble getting separation from ordinary DB's and doesn't have the quickness to excel at the next level. Let's hope Hoge and Mayock are both wrong, because my gut feeling is that MW will still be available at No. 9 and will be our pick.

MW is a posession receiver. He doesn't have straight line speed or even "deceptive" speed. This is a HUGE frame with monster hands and the ability to create mismatches -- especially in the red zone. If we draft him, that's what we're getting. With 3 receivers already on our roster who can run between a 4.3 and a 4.4/40 (Moss, Patten and Jacobs), I don't think that we'll be asking him to stretch the field.
