Can you say offensive revival?
Greg Williams may need to take a month vacation (or a trip to the looney bin) after this but we get our offense back. I honestly feel we could be set for 5-7 years on offense (expecting Ramsey to progress/excel) if this were to occur. I have not 1 doubt Williams and Miller are going to be special players.

Here here! I second that. My only fear is that Miller won't drop that far. If not, maybe switch gears and go DE with Pollack. Either way, I LOVE our flexibility.
I know many of you will not agree, but after watching Braylon's work ethic on NFL Network over the last few days, I've become a real fan whether we get him or not. Although already blessed with size and speed, he continues to put forth tremendous effort to improve, matching himself against the greatest to ever play at the position.
Mike Williams has similar gifts, but I don't see near the same level of determination to dominate at the next level. There are only a handful of receivers with talent and attitude to be elite: TO, Randy Moss, Chad Johnson... I see Braylon ending up in that group.
If we go up and get HIM, I won't mind. Using our first this year, our first next year, our third this year AND our fourth next for Williams... um, not sure on that one. Stomach has a bad feeling though.
I'd rather get 2 or 3 impact players than risk the house on 1 guy. Hold onto your hats...

if we trade up to get braylon edwards and lose the #9, #25, and rod gardner, as speculated, then i think we trade santana moss for a low 1st round pick, and we use that to get jason campbell.

I personally wouldn't be angry if we got Miller (he's the kind of player I generally like), but I just don't think we're interested in a TE, especially high in the draft. Picking Miller is a luxury we just don't have.

Hey guys, does anyone have any media news about any Redskin interest in TE's this offseason and more specifically interest in Heath Miller? I think the answer is that there isn't any. If I'm wrong, fire a link my way (=post it in a reply) if its not too much trouble. The only thing I recall was an early FA PC at which Joe said that TE was NOT a priority.

Just a thought...It may seem far-fetched but has anyone considered the possibility that Ramsey may be traded; and in return receive many draft picks including two No ones this year or one this year and another next year?? Team involved may be the Dolphins and their 2nd overall pick in the lst rd....I still can't believe that we obtained a lst rd. pick(#25)in return for three draft picks...UNLESS there's already a "big deal" being contemplated>>??

04-22-2005, 08:35 PM
i say we trade down from #9 to 11-15. because of the hype around "pac-man" jones, he will be gone by then. Gardner could be packaged into this trade. could pick up a 2nd easily for our #9 and gardner (to go with the new top 15 #1 pick)...I really dont think he is worth a 3rd round pick regardless....
so from pick #9 to between 11-15: Carlos Rogers
From what i understand Gibbs is extremely impressed with Matt Jones and loves the play book implications of the guy. TE/WR and trick play QB. He knows other teams like him, the stealers and eagles in particular...so he would be gone by the 2nd round if we traded for a 2nd round pick...heath miller will be gone anyway....
so from the trade to get #25: Matt Jones
**WARNING** This is ONLY if we dont have some crazy trade up to get someone else.
**IF** we do something "crazy" we'll end up with brylan edwards or alex smith...which is hard to believe will happen.
anyway....everyone have some fun, and remember....embrace the new player(s) we get, even if he wasnt who you expected! :)
in Gibbs i trust!

I think Rod Gardner should be traded for a decent pick NEXT year. After all we are 2 picks short next year so even a 3rd rounder next year would be GREAT.
With that said, I can't help thinking that somehow Rod may be part of a trade up or trade down move package. In other words, Rod and the #25 pick to move to #21(or whatever)....or possibly Rod and the #25 pick for a 2nd round pick plus a 3rd round pick........or here's one to chew on....
maybe Rod Gardner and the #25 pick for a FIRST round pick next year....plus a 3rd round pick this year....from a team that ends up finishing with a top 15 pick. Maybe the Skins don't have enough money for a full draft this year so they just take Pacman and then focus on picking up a VERY high draft pick next year. If the Skins have a playoff appearance...then the end result would have been a low 1st round pick next year being swapped for a high 1st round pick next year.
Just threw that out there to illustrate the endless possibilites and how crazy this draft.....swap shop....may be.

I have always argued against selecting Miller...a tight end with the #9 pick or even trading away a premium pick at #9 just to get to the right slot for value where we could pick Miller.
HOWEVER...since we have already traded away next years pick and we have #25, if Miller is STILL there at 25, we would obviously be fools not to take him. Of course it also matters who ELSE is still there at #25.
Isn't this exciting!!!

#25 trade up (San Diego at #12) w/Gardner+ #6th to pick Williamson
*Note Marty gets the most out of Gardner for some reason or another, and they team up to give Brees a tough short to long range target and a good
run blocker.
From NFL.COM - Gil Brandt's NFL Draft Analysis
3. Troy Williamson, South Carolina (6-1 3/8, 203)
He had a limited workout at the combine. He ran his 40s in 4.32 and 4.32. He also ran the short shuttle in 4.03 seconds, the three-cone drill in 6.99 and the long shuttle in 11.19. He had a 41½-inch vertical jump and a 9-foot-9 broad jump. In high school, he was a two-time 100- and 200-meter state champion and led his track team to back-to-back state titles. At South Carolina, he played as a true freshman; he started five games and gained 28.9 yards per catch. He started 10 games in 2003 and 11 in 2004. He also returned kickoffs. He's a very good athlete with the size and speed you want at the position. He's fluid, has very good hands and can get separation. He has never played in a pro-style offense. He needs to get stronger to get off the bump. He might not play as well as you would like right away. He needs to learn the game, but has outstanding upside.

woohooo!!! the day has finally arrived, as I said earlier this year will probably be a lot of fun when it comes to the draft but next year's draft is looming... BUT today I sure hope to FO gets me even more pumped up waiting next season. I really wish we get one of these players:
trade up and get braylon edwards or mike williams: instant upgrades
keep picks and get pac-man or carlos rogers and maybe a good DE or WR with the 25th or trade down and get 3-4 quality players. oh boy, it's going to a fun day. And think about all the speculation afterwards, since nobody really knows what we will do, (except the FO hopefully).

the Skins will make moves today but will NOT MOVE UP....and will not draft Edwards as the experts are talking about. its a rumor....
The Skins will take a defensive player with that FIRST pick and Carlos Rogers seems to be Greg Williams most likely choice. That guy hits like a linebacker and reminds me of Sean Taylor....and we know how THAT worked out. Greg Williams gets his guy, even if the Skins trade down from 9 to 11 or 12.
Then the SKins go offense...with the #25 pick. I would not be shocked if the Skins actually pick Matt Jones, even if they have to trade down a few notches to make the value scale appropriate.
Thats my best guess but honestly Gibbs has me so confused I have no idea.

I understand a lot of people want TE H.Miller with the 25th but that would just create a logjam at a position that is almost a strength for us already. In my opinion, we don't have a logjam at QB if we choose a QB because anything that moves P.Ramsey to the bench or to another team (release/trade while he has little value left) I am in favor of right now....even if it takes drafting and a chance w/ Jason Campbell. We just need a little excitement or spark at QB position right now and none of our robots back there right now provide it. Regardless....I hope for a successful draft and that everyone enjoys thier day! Hail@

I would like a QB in this draft as well. The reason I prefer J. Miller at No. 25 is that I think we should be targeting McPherson, not Campbell, as the QB.
