wth is he doing on a motorcycle? there has got to be some clause in his contract restricting him from doing stuff like that. good luck to him though......

05-02-2005, 12:54 PM
You still hear time to time that the Browns are very worried that he hasn't recovered from his surgery and that he might never be fully healthy. At least Taylor might just be whining about his contract, and is working out with the Miami players. Imagine the whining here if he got injured riding a motorcycle.

DR_RedskinsFan
05-02-2005, 01:02 PM
Its against his contract for him to use a motorcycle..... does this mean he's gonna be fined on top of the time he's gonna miss? because as far as i know motorcycle injuries, you dont exactly come back the next day.

Jason Williams anybody? Winslow's lucky.

jason williams was alot more seriouse...it probably ended his career though he is now tryin' to make a comeback.

Anyway....so happy we took taylor. I was begging for him during the draft. I remember the report right before we picked by on of those so called "experts."

"The clevland browns are trying to work out a deal with the redskins to move up in the draft to take Winslow, who, unless something drastic happens, will be the 5th overall choice to the washington redskins"

Then we got the BEAST OF THE EAST
(No offense lavar, but this guy is the real deal)

Similar to Williams????? Williams didn't have a bike left when it was done itroducing itself to a telephone poll. Winslow only flew over the handle bars. All seriousness though I do hope he is ok, I don't wish injury or harm to anyone. But this I don't think can be compared with J. Williams.

This is bad luck for him. I was a big fan of his when he was at Miami. This just seems a lot like Jason Williams of the NBA. Top college player comes out with a lot of accolades and his career never really gets started because of a motorcycle accident. I just hope its not severe.

There was a lot of concern from many Skins fans about who to pick last year -- Winslow Jr or Taylor. Now that we've seen (or not seen in KW2's case) what both can do in the NFL, which player would we rather have? Or rather what offseason problem would we have wanted? Taylor's headaches or KW2's body aches?

I'd take Taylor (don't even consider him a head case) over anyone in that draft and over any S in league except Ed Reed... Even then it is close... I'd even take Taylor over any CB. CBs make a ton of money and with the new rules, they are less effective.

So Taylor.

Im sure Romeo Crennel was ecstatic when he heard this news. I think he will get Winslows a** totally in line and he will still be awesome. But these players need to use their brains more with their million dollar bodies. Speeding through a college parking lot on a bike is not smart.

No kidding. I am sure these teams would like to add motorcycle injury stipulations to these contracts.

Was he wasted? I would love to know how this accident developed b/c it sounds like he was doing a stunt for MTV jackass.

He honed that skill in college.

Anybody know the extent of his injuries? I took a similar spill on a motorcycle and broke 6 bones in my wrist and ankle and destroyed my knee.To tell the truth, I was never the same after that, it was 17 years ago and I still hurt sometimes in those places.

PFT is saying that because of this, the Browns can legally ask for 9 million dollars back from Winslow(5 million of his signing bonus, 4.4 million of his option bonus).

redwolf1218
05-03-2005, 07:23 AM
The unfortunate news is they could be extremely costly. Winslow's incentive-laden, six-year, $40 million contract is littered with language that forbids "hazardous activities" such as "motorcycling." This means that Winslow has put the majority of the contract at risk.
His motorcycle accident jeopardizes the remainder of his contract.

The Browns sure have drafted some doozies over the last few years.

GolfFreak
05-03-2005, 07:31 AM
Wow, this just reinforces my earlier post about awesome athletes doing stupid things. It's even more stupid when you know you weren't suppose to do them in the first place. It's unbelieveable.

The Browns have to go after that money or future players that screw up will look back at how they handled Winslow. Give the Browns props for adding that language though. Good for them.

akhhorus

KWII might have extensive injuries:

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2051653
(some highlights)

"Browns tight end Kellen Winslow Jr. sustained internal injuries and complained of chest pains after he was injured in a motorcycle accident, the team said Monday night.

A Browns source told ESPN.com that the team was "particularly concerned" about Winslow's right knee."

"The extent of the injury to Winslow's right knee, and the possibility of structural damage that might sideline him for an extended period, likely will not be determined until swelling in the knee subsides.

There is also swelling in Winslow's right shoulder.

"He went over the handlebars and was real evasive about what the injuries were," Arcuri said."

Now that would definitely suck big time. Out your first 2 years in the league.

And to top it off he might never recover completely from this accident. Too bad, but I hope the Browns get their money back.

And they would lose. First off, the contract apparently clearly states what ("motorcycle"), but not where ("road", "highway", "parking lot", "playground"). The clincher is probably the fact that he had to get the motocycle there somehow. I didn't see a trailer and I'm sure he didn't "will" the bike there like a genie. He was likely on the road with it, at least to get it to the parking lot.

Winslow walked out of the Cleveland Clinic on metal crutches, putting no weight on his right leg. He wore a Cleveland Browns T-shirt and sweat pants. He smiled and gave a thumbs up. When asked how he was feeling, he said "good." Winslow left in a sport utility vehicle.

I'm sooooo glad that didn't say on the back of a Ninja.
