Mort picks skins as NFL sleeper

In todays chat wrap Chris Mortensen commented on how he thought the NFC east would play out and also on Ramsey v. Carr

MOE(Los Angeles): Mort - I think Patrick Ramsey is going to be better than David Carr. What do you think?

Chris Mortensen: No, I disagree. I think Carr has it all. The problem is that Carr won't be surrounded by as many good-to-great players as Ramsey, who also gets the benefit of a very aggressive system under Steve Spurrier. I like 'em both, to be honest. But Carr is the total package.


Anthony (Rhode Island): Where do you see the G-Men going this year and in years coming???? Seems to me that the time to win is now! They got the talent!!!

Chris Mortensen: The Giants believe this could be their year because, as you obviously think, too, they have the talent. I'm toying with the idea of picking them to win the division over the Eagles with the Redskins my NFL sleeper. But they also are a relaitvely young team so I expect the Giants to remain pretty competitive for a stretch.

I am glad that we don't have as much hype as we had last year. Things have really calmed down since last off season. I like the idea of us being sleepers too. We can just quietly kick everyones tuckus every week.....

I'll take a quiet victory over a loud loss anyday.

mort is one of the few guys that i like from ESPN. his assessment of ramsey and carr is fair, but like i always say, we will see. i wish we could be everyones sleeper pick. so that if we bomb it doesnt matter and if we do well, no one will expect it.

I agree Lady. I like Mort, nothing he said was off the wall. Like I said oin a prior thread, Giants are one of those team that I simply would not put money onany year. They are too hard to figure out. Some years they pull off the magic and stay near the top, others they just fall flat. They are one of the most unpredictable teams IMO.

I like Mort too but at times he can be a hater too.

I agree. The giants are hard to predict. Of course the skins can take care of that by sweeping them this year. As far as philly is concerned, I believe, despite what happened last year when he was out, as far as Donavan goes, philly goes.

Anybody remember when boos were heard from Philly when McNabb was taken ahead of Akili Smith? Everyboyd believed Smith was better than McNabb and even possibly Couch (which righ now Ramsey is better than Couch).

I like mort, he has fair takes... sometimes we deserve to get ripped. Our teams have been better than they've played for like the last 6 years. I expect a down year from teh giants and an up year from the boys... philly and us will haggle for the East crown. The turmoil in philly has been mounting... two NFC championship losses, FO letting key players go, not taking care of players that got them where they are... It'll be a tough year for Andy Reid, but he's overcome drama before.
