Hopefully the part about Jacobs is right. I hope he can really step up this year.

I think Jacobs will be starting, at least part of the time, platooning with Patten.

I think he could be a good fit this year. Forget all thsi Freddie Mitchell talk, I'd rather have Jacobs out there any day of the week.

Wow an article that was mostly positive and not for from the truth in my opinion that is nice.
1. Taylor Jacobs will start and Patten will be in the slot I think it is time for this 2nd rd pick to start playing like it. I still have the draft magazine that has him ranked as the third best WR and a mid 1st rd prospect.
2. Samuels will be fine and his improved play and Rabach solidifiing the C position should make this OL dangerous.
3. Sean Taylor is only 22 and will mature until then we must be ppatient like a parent with a Gothic kid.
4. The DT analysys was good only problem is that Griffen is th youngest and he is turning 29.

This is the best news all week. I can't wait to see Jacobs get some playing time this year. With Samuels and Jansen healthy, and the addition of Rabach, we have one of the best lines in the league. I can't wait to see what we're gonna do this year.

I'm glad to hear about Jacobs. Before he was drafted, he was billed as the best NFL prospect WR to ever come out of Flordia, although, that's not saying too terribly much.
I'm more concerned about the entire paragraph devoted to ST. Apparently, other folks outside of Redskinland are noticing his irregular offseason happenings.

I sure hope so. I know he was a Spurrier pick, but if he doesn't get some opportunities soon, then he will become a bigger bust as a second round pick than Gardner was a first, comparatively speaking, of course.

Good analysis. Jacobs looks good although perhaps he could secure the ball a little better. I think I'm one of the few James Thrash fans. Not that I think he is a number one reciever but he has great instincts, and good things always seem to happen when he's on the field. I look for the Redskins to rotate recievers much as they did last year. Moss/Patten/Jacobs/Thrash/McCants all deserve significant playing time.

The most positive article that I've read about the 'Skins in quit sometime. Time will tell if what they say is true. But one little question, I always thought Salave'a was the starter and Noble was coming off the bench. Anyway, I think we'll be a solid team next year.

I bet Gibbs knows more about Jacobs then we do, and Jacobs will be fighting for a starting spot.

Some may remember Joe Gibbs early comments during camp last year that one young player in particular was really impressing him. Most of us concluded it had to be Taylor. But Taylor never saw a whole lot of action last year during the regular season. I'm also hoping he steps up and has a breakout year this year.

I couldn't have agreed more with what they said about Taylor. I hope he can mature more over the next season and become a leader in the secondary.

i think that is another reason why we didnt go after mike williams. i like our wide receivers, but i dont believe you can say that santana moss isnt going to be the #1 or #2 receiver

Well, I certainlly am not a big James Thrash fan. A mediocre wideout who made the team only because he played special teams. If the 2005 lower round draftees turn out to be good special teamers, there may not be any room for Thrash on the roster this year. And, I am still smarting over having to give up a 5th rounder for Thrash in the first place when he was a lock to be released by the Eagles. Before you say a 5th rounder ain't much, how come we can't seem to get even that for Rod Gardner?

I have a feeling that Moss, Jacobs, and Patten, may give us flashbacks of the possee, Monk, Clark, Sanders.

How can you not like James Thrash? He was by FAR the best special teams player we had last year, he downed the ball inside the 5 something like 6 times and was always the first guy down the field to make the tackle or down the ball. He even returned a kick 40 yards. Nobody that we were going to draft in the fifth round could do half as much as Thrash, and that's not even counting what he does on offense, which is catch the ball when it's thrown to him, something that a lot of our other receivers couldn't do.

If it is true about those stats give me a link to them. Because our coverage was awful...If he was first down the field then maybe he was outrunning the designed coverage. First downfield is not always a good thing on ST. Thrash has been replaced by Patten and Brown who are better on ST and he is redundant as a mediocre wideout...Gibbs doesnt like mediocrity...he likes special people that can play every down if needed....Gibbs has stated that he likes Brown alot. Thrash is only a decent ST but if he were great the Eagles would have kept him...

I saw the same thing I have seen for 5 years now....Bad ST play, a few great plays by mediocre players that probably couldnt repeat them if they tried and us always starting inside the 20 and having to fight for yardage...Didnt we end up 6-10?....It was because our offense and ST were bad

I think Jacob's will have a blow out year! He will have a lot of people asking the question, "Who is this Taylor Jacob's guy & where did he come from?" :)

James Thrash is as close to being what I consider a "core Redskin" than anyone else on the roster. He is like a Donnie Warren, or a Monte Coleman. He was worth every bit of a 5th round.

He downed it inside the 5 three times in one game (eagles maybe?), and two of them were inside the 3. If that's what you get for "outrunning the designed coverage" I think i can live with that. Our ST definitely had huge issues, but Thrash was certainly not one of them. His returns were decent, his coverage play was outstanding. I don't think we're paying him much, either. This guy is here to stay.

i love thrash he is a good player all around. he is the type of receiver that goes over the middle and gets drilled but still comes up with the catch. i like him better then i did coles. I think we can go 4 wide with a TE and watch out! Moss/Patten/Thrash/Jacobs and Cooley at TE! Damn we have a nasty line to protect ramsey if he can just get his reads down and see the field we are unstoppable. i mean other teams might have their standout receivers but look at them Randy Moss has porter and thats it.......T.O. has no one......Marvin Harrison has Stokely and sometimes wayne.......the lions have the most potiental but can never get them on the field together......Washington has the best "SOLID" group of receivers all around!

OK Im sorry but are you serious with these anti-thrash comments? Your saying some outlandish things, that guy was a special teams star last year on punt and kick coverage. He's not a star reciever but its players like him that hold a team together and make all the sacrifices and makes the right example for younger players on the team. If Sean Taylor had the brains of thrash thered be nothing to hold him back from his potential. Thrash is the epitome of a class player and a pretty damn good one too. Maybe if Snyder didn't get rid of quality players like him, brad johnson, stephen davis, and stephen alexander maybe we could've stayed in the playoff picture after 1999. Special teams are pretty important and he kicked ass in it last year, our punt unit was amazing last year, tupa had some amazing kicks and thrash downed all of them, I don't understand what people could have against him, he's a community guy too. strange, i dont understand what some redskins fans want at all.

I expect big things from Jacobs this year. Assuming Rod isn't around, our ex-Spurrier boy should wind up with at least 800 yards. Not sure about TDs, considering Gibbs is still working out how his offense is going to work. But Jacobs should be our #2 man, with Patten in the slot.

Lets hope Jacobs is as good as we hope. It would really be nice if he could step up for us.
