The New York Yankees have won their 8th straight game, and their record is now 19 - 19. Heads up O's fans, the Empire is Striking Back. (No pun intended).
GO YANKS!

It's funny how some people acted like this wasn't going to happen.

They're making a really nice run, albeit against two doggish teams in Oakland and Seattle, but they should be killing them and they are, so kudos there. I think the Yanks will definitely end up in the mix at the end of the year, as an O's fan I'm watching the Yanks scores nightly, but I often forget all about Toronto. There's a reason for that.
But the big difference this year is that the Yanks will have to fight for their playoff spot, I believe. Usually they comfortably win the East or are at least guaranteed a playoff spot. I think the O's, Sox, and Yanks will be in this thing for a while. The O's are being hit hard by injuries and went 4-3 in 7 games against Minnesota and Chicago, beating Johan Santana and losing to Garland by one run.
I think the East could be very interesting this year, I hope I'm not just being too optimistic.

We'll see I suppose, but the Yankees have not played up to potential in the early going. Maybe they are catching fire now, but as said I think it'll be a fight this season.

They have already been in a fight for a change. Usually the Yanks are running away w/ it by now(in the last 2 years they and the sox) but their slow start has made it more difficult. I still think they'll win the division and I thought that a week ago when they were 11-19 BUT just as it was too early to proclaim them dead it's also too early to talk div title. They still have a ways to go and need to play more like this consistently. They are back but they need to stay back.

right now, i dont see that happening.they just split a series with the best team in baseball all while missing their entire outfeild.their pitching is way better then people thought it was going to be,and our entire lineup is hitting.
also, didnt we sweep you guys early in the year?we swept boston too.neither team had severe injuries when we played making us the top dogs until someone knocks us off.we will at least contend for an al east title.

I don't see the O's Dropping off either, the whole team is solid. Everyone knows that the bankees were going to streak, but the teams they have been doing it against have not been playing well recently. It looks like it's going to be a good race in the al east this year.

Bankees, how original. I guess you're one of those Blo's fans who just showed up again after 7 years.

I wouldn't call what the Yankees are doing a streak, I'd call it "back to normal."

Call it what you want, but they won yesterday and that makes it 9 in a row.
