Santana Moss is supposed to be on today show of the nfl network at 7 and 10pm est. http://www.nfl.com/nflnetwork/daily_sked#tue I am starting to like this guy. I think he could become a "redskin". His demenor at the press conf. and just clips from the guy, he seems sincere in his approach to the game. one thing that also helped was Randy Thomas saying that he is a Redskin. I know I have my burg and gold goggles on but this is going to be his breakout year where he defines himself as a legitamate #1.
PS. I wonder if he will talk about ST with the possibility of holding out. :lol1:

I hope your right about him having a breakout year. My biggest concern about Moss is whether or not he can stay healthy for 16 games. I know he will be productive. He is lightning fast and has more moves than Allen Iverson.

I had Moss on my FF team and he had some huge games for me....he also had some duds....point being ...even if he has a poor game he is a deep threat that must be double covered...he will open up the ground game and some underneath routes

I like him. My only concern is his hamstrings. Other injuries will happen here and there, but I just hope his hamstrings are not an every week hindrance.

I love Moss, but I was irritated with the early terms of his deal. Now that I know he agreed to a team friendly deal, I am anxious to see him play.
My theory is that Moss won't have HUGE breakout #s, but he will help open the field for everyone else. If Cooley can contribute consistently underneath and help move the chains, we could have a much improved offense. The pieces are there, but can they come together fast enough?

I have a hard time believing Moss can be a 100 receptions kind of guy. I hope he proves me wrong, but I see us spreading the ball around more. I could easily see us having 3 receivers in the 60-80 reception range. Moss, for me, is going to be the guy we just send on a fly pattern, and Ramsey throws it as far as he can, and Santana will go get it.
But, hey, if he can catch 100 passes like that this year, I'm totally down with it.

100 catches is a big feat for any WR in the NFL. I think holding him to that standard it a bit too much.
Case in point, not a single wide receiver had 100 catches last year.
I'd be happy with 75 - 85 catches...which puts him in the same performance tier that Jimmy Smith, TO, Andre Johnson, Bennett and Hines Ward were in last year.

No, you're right... that IS a high standard. I was using that just as a point that I don't see him as a huge possession receiver. I see him more as a constant deep threat, or maybe used on WR screen's.
He could be our next Ricky Sanders, which would be TOTALLY fine with me!! :)

If Moss gets 70 catches then I think we'll be very happy. He'll make the most of every ball thrown his way.

Heck, if Moss catches 55-60 balls a game without sacrificing his YPC, I think he'll do a lot to open up the field. I'm hoping that Cooley works out as a possession receiver and is the guy Ramsey leans on to make tough catches. I'm thinking Cooley could get around 50 balls. Throw in Patten, Jacobs, Thrash, McCants etc. and Ramsey has plenty of targets.

I don't really care about how many balls he catches. I just want him to be healthy this year. I'm confident in his abilities but leary of him being 100% or close to it all year round. He'll produce if he's healthy.

well if Coles could get 90 catches last year in an anemic offense with a busted toe and dislocated finger, while having 168 balls thrown at him, i see no reason (other than injury) why Moss should not be expected to get 90 catches, over 1000 yards, and several TD's.

Now Joe Gibbs has the receiver that Dan Snyder has really wanted all along. I believe Marty over-ruled Dan by drafting Rod Gardner instead of Santana Moss. If that is so and Moss has the kind of year he is capable of having, it would indeed by ironic that Snyder will turn out to be a better personnel man than some of the football people he used to employ.

One reason is that a lot of touches will be spread around. Coles was Ramsey's primary target, but I think Cooley and Patten definitely get their share this season. We'll see, but I think of Moss as more the homerun threat than the consistent "go-to" guy.

I agree. I think our offense will drastically improve this year, primarily because of our improved system. The reason why Coles had 90 catches for less than 1000 yards was because Ramsey was forced to dump it off to Coles because he didn't have enough time. I felt like none of our passing plays had time to develop last year. Hopefully it'll be different this year.

i hope you're right. i dont want to see him getting cracked in half over the middle like Coles was last year. Ramsey needs to develop the accuracy to hit guys in stride rather than to make them do the circus catch over the middle, or he'll get Moss killed out there.

I think we all we will be very happy with the moss pickup once the season starts. The guy seems like he really wants to be a Redskin. He seems like he could be a good leader on the field for us. He is going to open the field up for us and give our offense a chance to do what it is designed to do. Score & win games!! I really like this pick up even though we have a lot of doubters right now!

If Moss becomes the deep threat then portis will run which will equal scoring points. Number of catches is nice stats but winning games is the key. I am hoping for top 10 in scoring and hopely top 10 in yards for the offense - how they get them I don't care. The more options the harder to stop aka Rams a couple of years ago.

Did anybody see this? I saw most of show, but they never even mentioned Santana Moss.

I know people think Coles is better than Moss, but Moss has good toes and is healthy right now, Coles is not. Coles was a baby. 168 passes at him and only 90 catches. Moss is gonna be great.
