View Full Version : The Exorcist.....

I would like to point out something, the article this guy is complaining about was a four page(not even four full pages, more like a full page and a half) that didn't endorse Paganism; just explained how Paganism was on the rise in South Carolina and in Charleston specifically. It's not like the article said: "You are required to take your kids to the coven and get them converted". And I've heard of Catholic exorcism, but Protestant exorcisms?

Dangers of occult

With all due respect for people's right to choose their own religion, a footnote to The Post and Courier's report on paganism (May 8) is that this choice subjects its adherents to great danger.

Dabbling in the occult is no parlor game. It opens the practitioner to dark and devious forces, which are often intent on deceiving and destroying their host.

In my 20 years as a Christian exorcist, I have seen many lives tormented because of involvement in witchcraft. It matters not whether the witchcraft is "white" or otherwise, it remains the craft of witches.

Witchcraft seeks to connect with spiritual forces other than the one, loving, creator God who invites His children to depend solely upon Him. Any yoking with other elemental spirits opens the door for oppression.

Numerous clergy and therapists in Charleston can bear witness to a long line of fractured souls who visit their offices because of such practices. In terms of exorcism, occult spirits are among the most difficult to drive out.

Four full pages on paganism may have its place in an information world. But without some word of caution, it seems a little much. In a world of choices and consequences, this is a choice to beware.

i've heard of it in the protestant world. it's not uncommon. never heard someone refer to himself as an exorcist though. to my knowledge, most protestant sects don't teach "exorcism 101" at seminary.

Lutherans would probably still teach exorcisim I imagine, And I do know many evangelical denominations still believe in spirit possession and release through a holy man of some sort.

20 years as an exorcist and he didn't even get a cool movie made about himself? How'd you like to be the person who tells this guy he's wasted his life?

Ill throw a Starbucks cup just out of arm's reach with a copy of The Nation, and the demon should fly right out.

Dave's on to something re the hating Christianity. I've been talking to plenty of people on the religious right over the last three months [though that bastard Dobson keeps dodging] and it's quite remarkable how many of them use the "people who oppose us hate Christianity" line. I'm not sure how many of the leaders actually believe that, but there is no doubt that many of their supporters believe it. Dave is one of millions. Convincing tens of millions of people of this has got to be one of the most impressive political accomplishments of the last 40 years.

I would most certainly expect you to belong to a christian church that hates christianity since you're a member of an American political party that hates America. ;)

Pat Robertson once referred to Episcopalians as being in the vanguard of Satan's army. That's still my favorite quote about us. I'm quite sure he loathes us more than he does you papists these days.

Don't you know that is not a real religion? The only real religion is the evangelical sect of christianity. And The Catholic church but only during election time.

Don't you find it odd that some of the american Catholic Church, like Wayne Donahue., throw down with the Evangelicals when at heart the Evangelicals think of the Catholic church as the largest cult in the world?
