As y'all might have noticed, Rock changed his number to 31.
He did this to honor his mom, who passed away last May 31st.
I am very proud that he decided to honor her memory in this way.
THIS is a reason for a number change.

I have edited my "classless" post. My, what a literal bunch we have become.
Yes, this is a great way to honor his mother. There's nothing worse than losing someone in your life who has meant so much to you and provided such inspiration. I know the feeling. Trust me.
Rock, just keep making things happen on the field. We need another Gerald Riggs on the goalline Jumbo packages.

Whatever. Just score touchdowns and don't fumble, and you can wear whatever you want.
I can assure you he does NOT consider the death of his mom a "whatever."

It's nice that he did that, and I don't think my comment was meant to take his mother's death lightly. My point was that I don't really care what his number is, as long as he produces on the field. If 31 means something to him, that's great. I would probably do the same thing.

So I'm going to just politely remove myself from this discussion...
I think you should do the same thing on this one matey, as your infamous "narcissist" post!
That was classless on the Rock!

Rock is a classy guy and I have always liked him. I don't know if he fit's in now that we drafted 2 FB's but I will always root for him, whether or not he is here.

I meant about him saying "whatever" about the Rock and his gesture. I wasn't saying that about the Rock, as far as how I personally felt. Did you think that?
Anyway, whistle and I are cool!

I hope Rock is still here this season but I have my doubts.
This is a class move by him changing his number for that reason

Yeah. the sad part is when I read this the first thing that came to mind was the fact that he'll probably be cut. A touching gesture nonetheless.

Rock was the feel good story of training camp last year. I know I was pulling for him. He shed 20 pounds to play a different position when he could of hung his head after the change in coaching staff and death of his mother. But he always tried hard.
He just does not fit in next year and he is not eligible for PS. I hope he catches on wsomewhere though.

I hope that he is still around after the cuts this year, and I am happy that he is wearing 31 which was my # in HS. I was originally hoping Rodgers would use it or Taylor, but this is great.
Prays go out to Rock's Family.

Rock is still a beast. Even with 31.

My thoughts too. Great guy, but he won't be a Redskin.

Unfortunately, he won't be honoring her in a Redskin uniform past preseason.

When I met Rock last summer, he was a very coold guy. Didn't have problem stopping a talking. I spent at least 15 minutes with him....
He spoe about his want to attend some little league games..."I like to see the little guys give it up"...he said when we talked....
hope he stays around a while.

Good luck to Rock with his upcoming year, wherever that may be! Also with the death of his mother, because that will take some time to get over. You only get 1 Mom! :banghead:

Stranger things have happened in the league and especially with this team. That seems like the answer, but we don't know yet. About 99% though!

...Which is unfortunate, because I like having a guy named ROCK playing for my football team. Bummer.

not only that but hes a classy guy, a hard worker, and not too shabby on the feild.what a great deal of respect he must have for his mother.i respect that!
i would like to have him around...even if its a limited role in which he prepares the rooks for the future.but its unlikely to happen.
