So, do you guys know any famous people who identify themselves as Washington Redskins fans? These people could be musicians, actors, politicians, atheletes, etc. I know of a few:
Wanda Sykes---Comedian/Actress. She is from the D.C. area and has stated that she has been a Skins fan since childhood.....and continues to be.
Tim Legler----Former NBA Player/Sports Analyst. Played a few of his NBA seasons in Washington, but regularly states that he is a "die-hard" Redskins fan.
MYA----R & B Songstress. Grew up in Landover, Maryland and said in a television interview that she follows the Washington Redskins.
Dale Jarrett---NASCAR driver. Once interviewed and asked who was his favorite football team. His response; The Washington Redskins.
Donnie Simpson---Former Nationally Syndicated Music show host for BET (now D.C. local morning DJ). He used to have a Redskins helmet in the backdrop as he did his National BET Music show "Video Soul". Asked about his affiliation, he stated that although he is from Detroit, he never liked the LIONS, and once he moved to D.C., he was swept away with Redskins fever and became a fan.
James Brown---Not the abusive singer ...but the Washington D.C. native who is a sports reporter for Fox TV. He continues to be a Redskins fan.
Katie Couric---Today show anchor. Not quite sure about this one, but I know that she is from the D.C. area and went to The U of Virginia. If my memory serves me correct, I think I heard her refer to herself as a Redskins fan at one time.
Dan Quale---Former US Vice President. In an interview he mentioned the Redskins as ONE of the teams he roots for. I wonder who the others are??
Joe Clair---Comedian, formally of BET. We went to college together, and he is an AVID Redskins fan.
These names are off the top of my head. I'm sure that there are more. Does anyone else know of any famous people who are fans of the Burgundy & Gold???

But that probably does not count.

Matthew McConaughey....now that would be cool (being from Texas that is). On another note about him, he co-starred with Sandra Bullock in a movie a few years ago (forgot the name of it). In any event, they interview Sandra and she said that she was openly hitting on him and wanted to date him in REAL life, but he had "no interest" in her. What the heck is wrong with him??? :lol1:

David Aldridge, basketball analyst, is a massive Skins fan and wrote an emotional article to celebrate the return of Joe Gibbs. Shortly after, ESPN fired him... The call for his head probably came from Pasta Belly.

I'd heard that Dale Jr was a diehard Skins fan.
Didnt know about Dale Jarrett.
I wouldnt be surprised if a whole bunch of the NASCAR drivers are Skins fans, considering they were team of the South up until the 70s, possibly even 80s. Maybe they have flocked to the Dirty Birds or Panthers, but i'll be damned if Richard Petty doesnt wear the B and G.
Anyone know any NASCAR drivers who are Skins fans?

Just found an article about famous panthers fans, which should make it about a paragraph long but they streched it out for two pages, but in the article I saw something interest about how Nelson Mandela is a cowboys fan? So is Celine Deon, but she just likes the colors. The file is a pdf, so it takes a minute to load and you adobe.
Carolina Panthers are stupid. (http://www.panthers.com/news/roar/celebrity_fans.pdf#search='famous%20fans%20redskin s')

OH YEAH, I forgot that they did actually date. When they interviewed Sandra and she mentioned that she was interested in him but the feelings were not mutual, it was DURING the shooting of that movie. They did in-fact hook up some time later. Richard Kelly, director of the awesome movie Donnie Darko, is also a VA native and Skins fan, in fact he has footage of Joe Gibbs and our team on a television during one of the scenes in the movie, except we are losing in the game, but he gives Joe Gibbs a shout out. That deserves respect.

Yup, the Skins used to own the Carolinas when it came to NFL. Thanks to Atlanta being god awful during that stretch. Good to see so many people still on board even despite the new Carolina franchise, and the many heartbreaks the skins have delivered recently.

OH!!! I GOT ONE!!!
Not really famous, but back in the early 90's when I still LOVED baseball and the Phillies, I almost accidently walked right into John Kruk at a game at RFK! He is a VA guy and was wearing a Skins cap!!!
Kruk is cool. He has shown enthusiasm for the Nationals as well. At the beginning of the season he was saying how underrated Nick Johnson is. Boy was he right!

No, actually, Bruce Smith (and Howie Long) both Virginians, and both grew up Pittsburgh Steelers fans. Well, they were the team of the '70's, so I guess I can kind of see that (although I think that you should root for your hometeam).

Here's some famous people that grew up in the area/live around here that I would hope are Redskins fans:
Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters Lead Singer) Was also in Nirvana
Tim Reid (Venus Flytrap from WKRP in Cincinnati)
Daphne Reid (The 2nd mom from Fresh Prince of Bel Air)
Sissy Spacek (Lives in Charlottesville, Va)
Robert Duvall
I'd have to imagine that some of them would be Skins fans???
I think I have heard this somewhere too. I wish I could find some substance to this b/c Duvall is THE MAN. great actor.

Bob and Tom 94.7 in Indianapolis, yeah Chic is the man and has to beat back some hilarious questions from Bob and Tom, during the season. They also like the novelty of talking about the Skins, because its always marketable (people listen).

Shirley MacLaine and Warren Beatty also grew up in the area. They went to Washington & Lee in Arlington I believe? I'd imagine that they are Skins fans???
Come to think of it? Donna Dixon (married to Dan Akroyd and who was on a show called Bosom Buddies with Tom Hanks) went to W&L as well. Don't know if she's a Skins fan or not??
I thought Donna Dixon went to Hayfield HS, her dad owned Hillybilly Heaven, a C&W restaurant/bar on rt1 in Woodbridge. Akroyd and her use to have a house on the Potomac in Hallowing Point. Don't know if they are Redskins fans though.

Nah, Snoop is a fan of the Steelers, definitely. He says so in one of his raps, plus said so in an interview (not to mention that he wears Steelers gear in many of his videos). He also roots for the Pats, because Willie McGinnest went to his high school back in "the LBC" (Long Beach, CA).
And speaking of local people, Goldie Hahn is from Montgomery County Maryland. If she is a football fan, I would think that she would be a Skins fan. New England Pats Coach Bellichick is from Annapolis Maryland. I know he coaches another team, but could he have grown up following the Skins? Also, George Clinton from band Parliament/Funkadelic lived in D.C. for several years and speaks fondly of the city. Might he be a Skins fan? Of course then there is:

Matthew McConaughey is definately a Redskins fan. He's said it on the David Letterman show and has appeared on shows wearing a Skins jersey. That's why no matter how bad his movies are, he is still the man.

A Washington D.C. cop (Gene Hackman) teams up with a man afflicted with a multiple personality disorder (Dan Aykroyd) who speaks in the voices of Tweety Bird, Captain Kirk, Pee-Wee Herman, Ricky Ricardo and the Wicked Witch of the West. Together, they trail a gang of neo-Nazis in an attempt to capture a porno film featuring Adolph Hitler in bed with a man who's about to be elected chancellor of West Germany

Thats true, I think it was Garret Park(but same area). In fact she comes back to visit her old house occassionally. And one time she let herself in when the owner wasn't home.
