Which one of these are your all-time favorite sports movie?

There are a number of great movies that I left off due to choices. One of my all time favs is "Rudy". Some others are The Replacements, A league of their own, No where Alaska, and several others that I can't think of right now.

Hey Mike, there's a Rocky movie on right now on ESPN Classic.

I voted for Slap Shot. I'm huge hockey fan and I love the in your face action of the movie. Great, great movie.

Ah yeah.......Caddyshack. Classic. What was that one high school movie made in Alexandria, Va? The one with Denzel Washington. Its a real life movie. Thats another good one.

This may be a corney one... but I have always liked "Hoosiers" with Gene Hackman... that movie was awesome. (Perhaps it is because I relate to the dude who shot the under-handed freethrow???)

I went with "Bull Durham." That movie makes me laugh a lot. The first 30 minutes of "White Man Can't Jump" is sublime.

As a kid, I loved hockey movies such as Slap Shot and Youngblood. Field of Dreams is a pretty damn good one too.

But...my favorite from the last 5 years has to be Remember the Titans. 4 of the past 5 years, I lived near "T.C. Williams High School", which is the Alexandria, VA school that the movie was about. Opening weekend, as my wife and I stood in line to see the movie, they opened up the theater doors for the exiting audience...and the ENTIRE TCWilliams football team exited. (The current team) They were all wearing their jerseys and were PUMPED up beyond belief. It made watching the movie afterwards that much greater...

Gotta go with Remember the Titans. I was hoping to be all original and say it first, but oh well. Incredible movie. Just incredible. Outdoes the Replacements, outdoes Any Given Sunday, outdoes Rudy. If you like football, you need to see this movie.

I agree Joe...Its too bad that they didn't film the movie in ALEXANDRIA! Instead, I think it was actually filmed in Alabama or somewhere further south.

Man! how I love Brian's Song

Loved Remember the Titans!

Also I loved 8 Men Out, but you know I love Baseball...

But from the list, I suppose The Rocky films, because I grew up in the 80's.

I can't believe no one mentioned this one to this point...MAJOR LEAGUE with Charlie Sheen. That has to be the best sports movie of all time. All the major leagues were good but the first one was the best.
(so I voted for other)

I can't believe I forgot about another one of my favorites. If you consider Bull Wriding as a sport. 8 Seconds is one of my favorites.

Another one of my favorites is dealing with NASCAR. Days of Thunder.

I did not like Days of Thunder...but I did like 8 seconds. Although Bull Riding is not a sport, it's for dumbasses looking for entertainment.

Any sports movie poll that doesnt include "Caddy Shack" is an outrage!

Shame on you CarMike, shame! :smash:

Other's worth mentioning [again]

Hoosiers [I'll admit it, a tear or two fell when the drunk was setting up the "picket fence" play]

Rudy

Field of Dreams [I'm a baseball guy]

hail2skins...off the subject...but why is it that your logo thingy (the tackling parners) has an ORANGE uniformed player tackling a RED uniformed player??? That's pretty close to sacreligous to the skins don't you think?????

Out of the movies named above, waterboy was the funniest. Remember the titans was probably the best all around. Acting, story line etc.

How can everyone forget "Bang the Drum Slowly"? Man, seeing the catcher (very young Robert De Niro) searching the sky for the already-caught pop-up makes even tough guys well up. Lots of famous character actors in that one.

My favorite part of Happy Gilmore was when Shooter told Happy, "I eat shit like you for breakfast every day". Then Happy says, "You eat shit for breakfast"? Every time I see that part it kills me.

Hoosiers, Raging Bull, Rudy and Basketball Diaries should be on this list before some of these others. The only Rocky movie that should be in the discussion is the first one.
