Doc gave me the results from that MRI I had done on Friday.
I've got a hernited disc in my lower back. Between 4 & 5
3 years ago I had a hernited disc in my neck repaired.
I Lived for 14 years with that one, all the time being told it was "stress".
For a broad who's in great shape, I sure am falling apart
:D
Has anyone had this problem?
My Dad and two brothers have had the same thing in the same place.
That's the problem with being tall and lanky, I guess.

Or OLD!:p (Did I say that????)
Actually, I imagine it is most painful Gibbsgirl. Praying for a speedy recovery for you. Does that sort of thing require surgery to repair???

AGG - I'm sorry to hear about your problem. My youngest daughter is getting ready for her scheduled 2nd back surgery within the next few weeks. This one is the result of an automobile accident. Her first surgery was about 2 1/2 yrs ago - not auto related - and she responded very well with PT and was very well off until some SOB plowed into her.
Anyway - today the surgery is considered almost 99% risk free and successful - just get a good Surgeon and a good Pain Mangement specialist and good Physical Therapist.
I wish you well and hang in there - it does get better!

How did you know there was a problem???
I live in constant back pain, when I saw a chiropractor about 10 years ago, they said I was born with a twisted lumbar and it put undue pressure on my lower back. I've been an athlete for years, and I used to be an A list softball player hitting 375ft+ homers. Now I hit 275-300ft. And I feel it in the morning. Well I feel it all the time, but mornings are terrible. Nights are not good for me at all either.
What kind of symptoms did you have?

That's bad news, GG. I wish you the best with that. I'm 6'3" but haven't had those sorts of problems yet. I did have some upper back pain in the mornings, but my girlfriend got me a special pillow and the problems have disappeared.

I work out 5 days a week and the "muscle pain" in my lower back was getting worse not better, also it burns across my (er)...buttocks region-down the left leg and is numb to my big toe. Classic symptoms says doc.
Since I lived... NO... survived, for 14 years with my neck I wasn't playing that game this time. I got an MRI right away, and I'm glad I did.
Symptoms would be burning, or numbness, because this means something is pushing on a nerve. If you have any of this, you might want to see a Neurosurgeon. They do backs.

NamVet4,
Sorry to here about your daughter.
I was in a car accident when I was 19. I lived for 14 years with a messed up neck. I saw every kind of doctor, had cortisone injections by the dozen, was on every pain med there was then someone finally gave me an MRI and it showed very clearly the pinched nerve. DUH!
For me surgery was succesful. I hope that PT will help me and that I can avoid surgery, but I'm not afraid of it should it come to that!
Keep us posted on your daughter, I'll put her in my prayers!
