Man he used to love to throw the ball at the receivers feet for some reason. Great article .

Man, for that one season, he could not miss. Every ball he threw deep would hit the receivers in their hands in stride. It was really unbelievable to watch. Great article.

I was thinking the exact same thing reading the article. Big guy with a big arm that is a classic pocket passer. Reading that is some inspiration for Ram to really crank it up. Man I hope that kid does it.
It's incredible the horrible stuff this guy wentr through. In the article it says his son died of cancer, but I believe his wife was later diagnosed with cancer as well. I don't know what happened.
The 1991 season is the only SB season I've witnessed, and I'll never forget it.

i remember he took a year or 2 off from football during that time. i saw something about it on tv and it broke my heart. there is just no possible way i could imagine what he went thru.
i remember when Gibbs benched him for fumble-itis. i think he had like 11 fumbles. he could not really move around at all, but he had that one year when he was just "on" all the time. i think he was the QB when we almost set the record for least sacks allowed, i remember we had given up 6 sacks going into the last game against Philly and gave up 3 to them for a total of 9 in that year. that's incredible.
I think he is half Native American.

Rypien was a great player, who probably got by with less talent than some and more heart. I saw him play several times live over the years including his last game with the Redksins (against Vikings on New Years Eve 1993). I remember that near the end of the season in 1990 after an inconsistent couple of games he was getting alot of boos in a game I saw against the Bills. He bounced back nicely the next week in the playoffs though and of course the next season was incredible.

Glad you guys liked it. I was very happy to get that assignment. Rypien was the QB when I got to go to my last Redskins football game. I was at the playoff game with the seat cushions and proudly chucked mine! I unfortuantly moved from the Washington area in 1993 and have not been back other then to visit relitives but my early days growing up watching the Redskins have stuck with me where ever I've gone all these days and still love the team. I had fun writing that!

Wow! It must have been great to be at that game. Seeing those yellow seat cushions fly on the tv is one of my all time favorite memories.

I like this quote, this is pretty much an overall description of Redskin QB's through the ages...and shows you what good coaching can do!
