A little update on Dave's favorite Secretary of Defense [ :D ]:"Anyone who tries to estimate the end, the time, the cost or the casualties in a war is making a big mistake."
-- Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld, on Meet the Press earlier today.Source (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/8332675/)
"It could last six days, six weeks. I doubt six months."
-- Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld, quoted by USA Today, in March 2003. Source (http://www.usatoday.com/educate/war28-article.htm)
I know loads of Republicans who wonder how this guy still has a job.

Because firing him would be admitting a mistake. In the Bush administration you can mess up and get fired, but if you mess up catastrophically you must either stay or get promoted (Wolfowitz, Bolton, Rice i am looking at you)

That is only different from the normal federal employee policy in that it takes an act of Congress to fire a federal employee ;)

I wish Rumsfeld was the emperor of the Bush administration. Unfortunately, he has a conscience thus disqualifying him. Rove is the Emperor.
It was unnerving when Rumsfeld defended rendition and torture but not nearly as unnerving as when Alberto Gonzales did it.

I know a guy who worked for AMC and he spent 3 years trying to fire this one lady. It was impossible though, she was a minority. She was promoted to GS-15 via heavy pressure from the higher-ups despite a horrible record.
I'm all for affirmative action but it needs to be implemented responsibly.

I agree.
You go to war with the army you have not the army you want.
Remember that beauty. If he has a conscience he should shoot himself in the testicles for that one.

If he has a conscience he should shoot himself in the testicles for that one.Dick Cheney has those in a small box next to his hyperbaric chamber. You'll have to clear it with him first.

The Bush administration has tried to make a whipping boy out of Rummy. The ulimate blame must go to the man with the ultimate power.
