After last year's abysmal showing by Special Teams I was hoping that we would work on this area.

Well we did upgrade at Kicker, Kick Returner, and adding Morton and Bowen to coverage units improves coverage. Where I think we need to work on is blockign for our KR and PR. I am not satisfied that they addressed the PR issue. As you all well knwo from last year, PR was a problem, a problem to the point where w eput Champ back there, although he looked uncomfortabel. Morton has returned only 8 career punts, so does he solve it, I dunno:confused:

"I was a guy who said he would never return punts and kickoffs," says Mitchell. "I thought people who did it were crazy.

This line cracked me up!

Yes blocking was a major problem last season but also was returners following their blocks.
But of corse, many times the coverage team was down field before the play had any chance to set up.

There is a lot of improvement that we needed to do in this area.

i dont think we have fully taken care of the special teams woes. signing morton was huge, but i cant take anymore shanks from barker. hopefully he will more consistent, and not consistently bad. john hall is an upgrade compared to what we've been used to, but i think he will miss his share of FG's this year. i think we couldve done better. i can look at it this, we didnt get any worse...

I'm down with that article. Special teams is very important and I hope we improve in that area. We have a returner, now we need to block for him. You know what I mean.

Well, I don't want to sound TOO doom and gloom, but here goes.

A few years ago, Brian Mitchell had lost a step. Our return game was not doing nearly as well as in years past. So we bring in Deion. Same results. We let Champ do it. Same results. We let Rock, Betts, and whoever else do it.

Same results...

Me thinks the blocking needs to improve.
