to hate the Cowboys and Emmitt Smith. I hope we absolutely demoralize them on Monday night.

Link (http://www.comcast.net/sports/index.jsp?cat=SPORTS&fn=/2005/07/21/183636.html)

It's from an article about Tedy Bruschi. About midway down is this quote:

In other NFL news on a busy Wednesday, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones announced that "the Triplets," Emmitt Smith, Troy Aikman and Michael Irvin, will go into the team's Ring of Honor together on Sept. 19 during a Monday night game against archrival Washington.

"The Redskins are going to hate it. They better hate it because I don't care much for them," Smith said, smiling widely. "Jerry is going to showboat in front of them."

Good. Very few, if any of these current Redskins knows what the Redskins-Dallass rivalry means. They don't hate Dallass at all. This can only serve to stoke the flames that Gibbs and especially Buges & Co. have already started.

"HATE" is such a weak word regarding my feelings for Dallas....Is there no stronger, more moeaningful word in the English Language? I hope we crush them like 42-0. Gibbs has been known to run up the score and I hope he doesn't hold back on this one.

Man....that is just classic Jerry Jones. I hope when Troy steps up to the podium Lavar knocks him out from behind.

If this doesn't get the boys in BnG pumped to smack dallas around I don't know what will.

i wonder if Jones and Snyder discussed this. what a great way to generate interest in the rivalry and increase ratings.

What a timely series of event. See all those pukes in their glory. Come September 20, there is not a better game for the Redskins and Joe Gibbs to reestablish themseleves in the NFL as a contender. Dallas v. Washington aside, this game is huge for our whole season. I can't wait.

Emmitt is still pissed that his FINAL game with the Cowboys was a 13 yard performance on 18 attempts against the Skins. (Yes...0.7 ypc average)

Not to mention the Redskins' domination against him left him only 25 yards short of his 12th consecutive 1,000-yard season. :D

I have been planning on going to this game all year, but now I know that I am really going. I should go and take a big sh*t on their ring ceremony stand. Will anyone come and bail me out or just raise the money to get me out?

Give me a call. I can get you out as long as you bail me out and pay me back quickly. Be careful in jail though, Dallas Co. probably isn't very fun.

Guys, I hate to say this. Honestly. It pains me to say this.

But here it goes. Who else would they schedule? If not for the Redskins they'd have the worst record of any NFL team over the past 5-7 years.

Like it or not. The Redskins have become the equivalent [?] of a high school team that all NFC East teams wants to schedule for their home coming game.

With that said. What better way than to wipe the field with those***CENSORED BY SPENCE***?!?

I don't know about that BNG...if anything, our dismal record against those clowns lately has created a whole new legion of Cowpuke haters amongst our beloved fan base. It's only helped refuel my distaste for them.

I want us to dish out a thorough shellacking and have the game be so one sided that we let Mark Brunell finish the game out for us. Yes, the same Mark Brunell who lit them up for 325Yds last year.

I guess sometimes you just need a wake-up call. I had actually developed a level of respect for Smith. Assuming that quote is accurate ... I just lost all respect for him. Even if its true that's how he feels ... in his position, in the spot light, post humiliating departure from Dallas, humbling performances in Arizona ... he ought to know better.

The Cowboys must love us. We've been pretty much two guaranteed victories a year for them. No wonder they laugh at us. We are a joke to them.

okay....so we have been the dormat for the NFC East for the past couple of years. But at least we have excitment.....we at least have a optimisim every year...and we try to win every year. The cowboys are garbage, dogs they stay TO MUCH the same. I believe in consistency but not to much...livin' up the bunch....

There is only thing that PURE redskins fans and fellow diehards should car more about the UTTER HATRED FOR THE COWBOYS and that is UTTER LOVE FOR THE REDSKINS.

Don't worry about the game when we play them...or what emmitt said.....or anything else....we are the up and coming team of the nfl....and the world will find out about it on that faithful Monday night. Don't worry...

Knowing Emmit Smith this was probably meant in the spirit of friendly rivalry, it doesn't make me lose any respect for him. If a Redskin had said the same thing I'd be smiling from ear to ear. That said, it still pisses me off and I hope to god that we've run the score up 35-0 by halftime so that this celebration get absolutely NO enthusisiam out of the crowd. Then we can polish it off with a 35-3 second half...give them the field goal the same way you'd hand a rapist the pin after you shove a grenade down his pants.:D

me too. they have so many wins against us now, we will have to sweep them for the next few years just to shut them up. i still think this is a great idea though to re-establish this as one of the greatest rivalries in sports, and since it's on a nationally televised monday night game, i'm sure that fact hasnt escaped Danny and Jerry. i just hope we have a substantial lead at the half and end up winning the game convincingly.

That's what I'm talking about.

However, in this era of free agency, our players have become NFL players, not Redskins. We don't get up for the Dallass games and we have been losing them. Somehow, the Dallass squads get up for the Redskins games though. Even when we are far more talented than they are, they win.

I think that this can only be attributed to the fact that the burning hatred that we feel for Dallass out here in Redskins Nation does not translate back to the players in a form that is greater than lip service.

When was the last time you heard a Redskin say "I HATE Dallass"? We heard it all the time in the 60s, 70s and 80s. And we beat then then.

LOL, that's pretty funny. But fans don't play football games. It would be MUCH better if LaVar ran that site or if a good number of the folks on the team even demonstrated that they viewed Dallass Week as something that actually meant something.

My point it that nobody on the roster has circled Dallass on their calendars for years. I fear that, aside from being in our division, Dallass might as well be any other team to the players.

I see your point BNG, maybe it has something to do with the Iggles ruling the roost the last few years. Hard to get up for a 3rd place vs. 4th place matchup.

Gibbs II is down 0-2 to the tuna...I'm sure HE will get his message across to this years Skins as to the importance and history between us and those bottom feeders down there in Texas.

so Sept 19th Emmit, Troy and Micheal get inducted into the Cowboys so called "ring of honor".........the sweet thing about this is that it is Monday Night Football and the Cowgirls will be about to get pounded by the Redskins right after the inductation.....talk about raining on a parade. This will make us 2-0 going into the early by week and it couldn't be sweeter than smoking the Cowboys on Monday Night Football in front of the world.

As I've said before, this game is huge not only for our pschye, the season, and honestly the direction of the franchise. This game could really turn the Redskins around. Having Irvin, Aikman, and Emmitt there to watch Dallas lose would only make it sweeter. Let's not overlook Chicago, which I doubt we will.

Your post got me excited AND nervous at the same time (lol) - first off, the Bears will have Mushin Muhammed, a healthy Grossman, and a decent D - no overlooking that. But Sept. 19 IS as crucial as you say - especially for Gibbs, IMO. If we come out strong, DISCIPLINED, and win, I think Gibbs will really feel that his comeback is truly in full swing. He can't STAND Dallas, as we all know, (ah, yes, his famous "...I get sick when I see blue..." quote) and a victory on MNF could be just what he and the team need to start the magic up all over again.

That's true. wins against chicago and dallas (on monday night) will be huge, and losses in both those games would be tragic. i feel like our backs are already against the wall and we start the season immediately in a "must win" situation.

i found this post on a dallas sucks thread. it's pretty funny and damn true.

I have lived all across the country, 26 places to be exact, and I have never hated living anywhere more than Dallas, Texas.

Here are the top 10 things I hate about Dallas:

1. The People - The most stuck up (and for no reason) people I have ever met.
2. Freeways/Interchanges - They have the dumbest names for freeways and interchanges. What the hell is a "Mix Master"?
3. DFW Airport - I've never seen a city practically make love to their airport. Meanwhile, it's the worst design I have ever seen where you have to pay to drop someone off.
4. High School Football - Do you really need to block off roads and have detours every Friday night?
5. Plano - The name alone says it all.. PLAIN-O.
6. Six Flags - Why go to Disneyworld? We have Six Flags. Yea, a few people have died there, but its closer.
7. Weather - I've never seen weather alerts take up 1/4 of the TV screen for drizzle.
8. Restaurants - They boast how Dallas has more restaurants per capita than NYC. But, they fail to mention that they are all chains and NYC is a HELL of a lot more people.
9. Nobody Drives - "I'm not driving all the way to Ft. Worth! That's 25 miles away!"
10. Dallas Cowboys - Every day on the news they have to mention something about the Cowboys and that piece of CRAP stadium with a hole in the roof that leaks when it rains

Enjoy

Me too, well also I definetly need #3.. Horrible airport. I've been to Dallas twice in my life and both times I just had a layover. A half hour layover ended up being 4. TWICE!!!!! as pissed off as i was about the layover, i was so much more upset about being that close to the Cowboys for that long. Give me a layover at Dulles anyday, but damn it keep me out of dallas.

this ring of honor thing is a big boost to the rivalry. they were already hyping this thing up the other day on ESPN. they were talking about it and went on to list the top 10 "triplets" in sports. guys like Joe Montana-Roger Craig-Jerry Rice, Jordan-Pippen-Rodman, etc. Of course Dallas's triplets were in there, and of course the Redskins were not in there because Joe Gibbs won his superbowls with all different guys through the years. this thing is going to make the ratings huge for the monday night matchup between us and the cowboys, and hopefully bring back the stigma of the rivalry.

take is as a compliment. if we didnt get to them somehow on some level, they wouldnt choose the game against us to do this.

My point it that nobody on the roster has circled Dallass on their calendars for years. I fear that, aside from being in our division, Dallass might as well be any other team to the players.

I think there's a lot of truth to this, especially among younger players.

I work with a guy who's friends with Chris Cooley. He claims that Chris has said that he absolutely hates the Eagles and wants to beat them badly, said he hates them much more than Dallas. I guess he's just too young to remember when the rivalry really meant everything.

The team just needs to get over that Dallas curse - something just always seems to go wrong when we play that accursed team, at least the last few years.

I agree, that game is going to be bigger than most teams' second game of the season.
