No surprise here, I mean, does he really have a choice.

I think he's either going to play unbelievably inspired ala Kobe during his trial or it will get to him and negatively effect his play. He's so talented and can make a great difference for us. I hoped he can get it together.

This actually made me laugh:
A local lawyer has sent registered letters to the four biggest TV stations in Washington, serving notice that he and several Indian and civil rights groups intend to challenge their broadcast licenses if they do not curtail the use of the word "Redskin" in news and sports reports. John Banzhaf , who teaches law at George Washington University and has been campaigning against the use of the word for decades, cited a court decision last week allowing the Redskins trademark to be challenged. None of the local licenses come up for review until 2007
Good luck with that. You would also have to go after ESPN, FoxSports, NBC Sports, CBS Sports, ABC Sports etc etc etc. Sooner or later, Rupert Murdoch would just have him killed.

I saw that too and was debating whether to respond to that here or in the Redskins name debate thread. This name business in getting ridiculous. Like you said, good luck with that.

Good deal. One less thing to have to worry about.
Interesting blurb about Barrow. Looks like the Skins are trying to get him to reduce is salary and stay on the team.

I don't think they want to cut him, but I don't think they want to pay him $1.7M this year either. I think he'll probably play somewhere for at or near the vet minimum. Hopefully, it's here. ;)

This is good news. In a sick way I'm kind of glad he "allegedly" pulled a gun on someone. It saved the skins millions....for a while at least and hes still reporting to camp on time.

This is the best news I've heard all offseason. Way to go, Sean.

Not to be a Debbie Downer, but I won't believe it until Sean Taylor shows up, and you know what the sad thing is? We shouldn't have to read somebody will be on time to camp in there 2nd season of the nfl.

Why is everyone being so cynical??! Just believe it. Taylor knows football is his best option. Maybe actually matured a bit throughout this process. Stop trying to bring me down, I've been anxious about him and our secondary since Rogers got injured, tonight I will rest easy.

new to the site, first post. at least st made one good decision. i don't see any point of pushing the trial date back. get it over with. they've got nothing on him. if the kid from baltimore had rolled on him it would be a different story. they're obviously just looking for a big fish to fry. i think we can all agree that st is not smart enough to beat a lie detector.

Obviously, a good decision. It's hard to point guns at people and hit them with baseball bats when Gregg Williams is screaming in your grill for 15 hours a day. I just hope this lame trial doesn't hang over him, and cause him any distraction from ending Cowgirl QBs' careers.

Am I the only one who thinks that this should be a complete non-issue? Taylor is a football player. Why wouldn't he be in camp on time? I'm surprised that I don't see a thread titled "Sean Taylor Pays His Taxes", as well where we are heaping praise on him regarding his fiscal responsibility. Stop giving this guy props for doing what he is supposed to do.

Welcome!
I was kind of thinking the same thing. If the trial only takes a few days, I would think it would be best to get it behind us.

The fact that he is showing up on time and honoring his contract should be expected.
The fact that he will be in the company of Coach Gibbs and other positive role models makes me feel good.
Don the pads Sean and prepare to play some GW Smashmouth football!

High profile rookie football players leave school and immediately embark on a whirlwind tour of life in the fast lane. Agents, the draft, reporters, mini camps, OTA's, training camp, then a preseason and regular season that is in effect twice as long as any season they had in college. many normal people take a summer off after college to travel, spend time with friends or family or whatever before starting their careers. Taylor is young, having left school as a junior, and maybe now that he finally had some time off this summer, in which he has come face to face with the possibility of losing his freedom, his career and his money, he will now be ready to buckle down and embrace his new life in the family of Redskins team mates and coaches that are here for him, to support him and shelter him. this might have been the hard, cold dose of reality that he needed to make him grow up and realize the opportunity he has and the gifts he's been given as an incredible athlete. Maybe he'll see the opportunity to play in the NFL as his "privelege" and not his "right".

First of all welcome... :)
Secondly, Are you crazy!!! We got Dallas the following week..A game that I plan to attend. We can't afford for Sean to be caught up in Fla. while we're getting ready for Dallas. I say Postpone it until the season's over...then it'll give him a reason to be on the straight and narrow for a while, then maybe he just might like it.... :lol1: Then he'll be going to court on his time and not ours...since he likes to be as far away from football as possible in the offseason.
Also Sean never said that he wouln't report on time....YOU ALL ALONG WITH THE MEDIA THOUGHT THAT!!! SInce his issue before the charge wasn't contractural, he was probably going to be on time anyway....He also didn't attned the mini camp cause the skins said don't come. We need to stop with the assumptions...the real truth is that we never knew the real truth in the first place

Excellent points redwolf!
Let's hope Sean has in fact hit rock bottom and has come to the realization that he needs to refocus and tone down his off the field antics. He must understand that he's a target out there in the civilian community.
Fortunately he has a very compassionate coach who will use his resources to give Sean everything he needs, Sean just has to want it.
I'm hoping for a quick start out of the gate for the Skins and that Sean is a major part of it. It would be a nice distraction from his off the field problems.

This is great news that I expected to happen. I am glad that this thing has finally been cleared up. I look forward to seeing him destroy the opposing teams this year. This kid is a beast and will come up big for us this year. He knows that he owes us (fans/teammates) that, after his childish events this off season. I can't wait to see his first hit on an opposing player. Damn I feel sorry for whoever that player may be!

Great Post. I was kind of hoping that he would come in after camp though so he wouldnt injure any of our guys when he comes back. kidding, but not completely. I really am scared that he's gonna hurt someone on the team in practice.

You can say that again. That back seven could be very nasty with LA and ST punishing everyone in their path. When both are healthy, opposing players will feel their wrath.
