I'm in Vegas right now and its HOT. Record breaking hot, about 115 or 117 degrees. I haven't been gambling, I won't donate to the casinos, but I can enjoy the free food.
I am hoping to be the person God has called me to be whether that means being the best husband, father, or player. Hopefully even Pro Bowler, I have high expectations. We'd like to make it to the Super Bowl, but we have to make it to the playoffs to get there and I think our team can go to the playoffs. We have high goals. I appreciate all the fan support. Especaially the fans at Hailredskins.com
Ok...I may have added that last bit about Hailredskins.com myself...but just imagine if he HAD said it. :D

Good quality guy. Sure is having fun out in Vegas. That place is nuts. We need him to maximize his potential this year. 5-7 sacks would be wonderful.

Pro Bowl? That would be awesome! Don't know how realistic that is, but I love this guy just based on his durability. I would definitely love to see him lining up in Hawaii. How long has it been since someone on the d-line made it there anyway? Plus, you know he's one of the smart players in the NFL, taking advantage of those college courses offered on money management and all. I wish him all the best this year.

I can see renaldo wynn picking up 8 or more sacks this year. Especially with guys like Lavar Arrington coming back. I think that even if he's not 100% Lavar can be one of the biggest decoys in the League. Every offense will have to game plan around him which will make everyone better.

I'm as big a homer as anyone, but 8 sacks? The guy is getting [much] older and been averaging 2.5 sacks a season. Personally I see this as his last season with the Redskins. Eventually we just HAVE to draft a DE (no I am not COUNCILMAN in disguise).

Dude, what a nice guy he sounds like. That is why I love our team. He is like a less-talented Reggie White (with the Christianity and DE spot and all...). I predict that Wynn has a better season than he did last year. Also, does anyone else besides myself realize how important his statement of making the Super Bowl was? He is not a loud mouth or a bold-statement-giver by any means. For a humble guy to say what he said means that he must really be impressed with what he sees going on around Redskins Park. I tell you what guys, despite our (Redskins fans) notorious pre-season optimism, I really think we have a special group of guys on Defense and our Offense is decent enough (not to mention between the 1st and 5th ranked O-line in the NFL) (That is my prediction for the coming season; not last year.) I think we have a legitimate shot at making the playoffs. Once that happens, anything can happen.
P.S. Am I the only guy who is OBSESSED with the little audio clip that Redskins.com uses as an intro. to it's video clips. I get goose bumps watching the Redskins helmet swivel around as the triumphant music plays. Am I a geek or does anyone else feel me?

We need him to step up and make more plays in the pass rush.
He's been ole reliable against the run. Go Reynaldo.

I think he added some stuff and took a tad bit of weight off. Hopefully its because reliability of the interior D-Line is much better than last year and he will now concentrate on adding more to his pash rush. If anybody can make adjustments, its Wynn.
Great piece posted there, thanks!

i'm looking forward to seeing Wynn on one side and Daniels on the other, with Lavar and Marcus blitzing on either side beside them.

Here's my dream... Wynn, lighter and faster, a hungry vet who's durable to boot - 7 sacks, with more pressures. Daniels, fresh from not playing in a while, healthy and PISSED about being hurt all last year - 10 sacks - yep, DOUBLE-DIGIT SACKS FROM A D-END! Can it really happen??
In my dream it does, and with Blache and GW's elaborate blitzing schemes, it certainly COULD.

Thats a nice thought. And I certainly wouldn't be upset if it did, but I don't think there is much chance of it. I was under the impression that Williams LIKES to use his DEs as runstoppers(for the most part) and perfers for the pressure to come from elsewhere. Players who get 7-10+ sacks are either elite players, or a mostly pass rushers. Wynn and Daniels are niether. Plus GW keeps a heavy rotation in on defense, especially on the line, so I wouldn't expect either of those players to recieve the number of snaps that most 7-10+ sack specialists get.
Its just that, with how we use our D-line, I wouldn't expect more than 5-6 sacks from either end, especially Wynn. If we got that, plus run support that is expected of them, I'd consider it a very successful year.

You're absolutely correct BW, mine was more of a dream than logic... but it'd be SWEET if it did happen! The way GW used the line last year would be fine with me, too - tying up the run with the D-line allowed our backers and secondary to dominate with the blitz - I guess I'm still getting used to the complexity of the mind of the best Defensive Coordinator in the NFC ;)

If our D-line is getting alot of sacks it'll mean that our Defense as a whole is becoming absolutely dominant and opposing offenses are completely at a loss about what to do with us. It'll probably mean they are trying to compensate too much for the blitzers and are leaving our line free to roam. We would be wreaking havoc.:D

I don't expect our D-line to get a lot of sacks. That's not what they're designed to do. They take up blocks from the O-linemen so blitzers can come in free. If our defense is having a great year, our D-line won't have many sacks, but everyone else will have a ton. Wynn fits into that kind of scheme very, very well.

Last year on our D-line:
Griffin had 70 tackles, 6 sacks
Wynn had 38 tackles, 3 sacks
Evans had 26 tackles, 3 sacks
Salavea had 20 tackles, 2 sacks
Noble had 14 tackles, 1 sack
Warner had 12 tackles, 4 sacks
Boschetti had 6 tackels, 0 sacks
Daniels had 4 tackles, 1 sack
Griffin was a beast, Evans was a surprise, Warner can get to the QB, and we need more from Wynn, IMO. Throw a healthy Phillip Daniels into that mix and who knows what he'll do, i suspect something between Wynn's and Griffin's numbers. Noble might do more also if he can come back.

Yes, GW uses the DL to stuff the run and absorb blockers. I do see improvement on the DL because they will have continuity and because Daniels is healthy - a big plus.
Also remember that besides the return of Daniels we have LaVar coming back, as well as Bowen. Newbies Rogers (when his foot is better) and McClune are going to be fast and hard-hitters.
Finally, the offense should improve, which will mean less time on the field for the defense. Overall, lots of improvement on our top-rated defense! defense

Good news is THIS YEAR, the D Line knows what is expected of them, knows more about each other, the coach, ad-lib when coverage breaks down and/or Qb on the run, where the LB's will be with them, funneling, etc.
That is worth so much and I can truly see that improvement from them. When Smoot got Springs on one side and Bowen/Clark had Taylor, LaVar. Pierce had Marcus at LB, that was the area that showed a big improvement, Griffin flat out stood out from the rest on the DLine, but because Evans, Warner, and Wynn had been together at least one year prior, it had an improvement on the line quicker than Williams anticipated.
One still has to use a bit of caution to expectations, or at least normally would think so, but this defense is special.
