They're saying that Deshaun Foster is better than Clinton Portis. Well, a couple are atleast.
BTW, be aware that they let that board go all out. No censorship what so ever there. Just a heads up incase you head over.

This is the true definition of a HOMER. When someone goes into a forum and says that Clinton Portis didn't do jack last year. Last time I checked, 1300 hundred yards on an offense that struggled in 15 games is pretty damn decent. This is barely worth starting a thread about, but since there is nothing goin on right now, atleast it gives us something to laugh at. WOW, that would be like me saying that Aaron Rodgers is better than Brett Favre, on the whim that he might someday outperform him. INSANE, these people are.

Deshaun Foster? Does he even play football? If so is it NFL football? Deshaun Foster has proved absolutly nothing Portis proved he could change teams and still get over a 1000 yards with very little of a supporting cast. This year Portis will crush that kittys dreams of Deshaun being better than Portis.

Not only that, but isn't Stephen Davis the starter anyway? I think the only reason Foster ran the ball last year was b/c of Davis's bum knee.

That is laughable, to say the least. Glad I'm not an uneducated Panthers fan. I mean, I may have been born and rasied in NC, but I'll always love my skins.

 you just know people are itchin' for football when they make a pointless thread like that, based on some old news....
clinton portis>deshaun foster any day.....

Because I am bored I also want to offer this. The same guy that said that Foster was better than Portis also said that Portis's numbers weren't jack S***. Well, Fosters numbers last year were very laughable. He only played in four games, and of those four games his team lost three, while he went over 100 yards in just 1 of them. Also, he had only 76 recieving yards in those games which falls well short of Portis's Numbers, and quite frankly well short of almost every running back in the league Including most guys that split time. Who's the bum? I got a dollar that sais Foster is.

the funny thing about somebody saying portis did nothing last season is that deshaun foster played a wopping 4 games last season with a total of 255 yards due to injury. in fact his total yardage of his career is 684 yards. did the person expect portis to triple foster's total career yardage or something.

Portis has two functioning knees, hence he is light years better than Foster.

Not even close although Deshaun is good he's no Clinton Portis.

Foster was the guy I thought we should take a crack at before we traded for Portis.

LMAO....they wish. Foster, does he even have a knee left? And he has serious fumble problems along with never doing much outside of preseason.

Well, he seriously flip-flopped:
And I said that he has outperformed Foster to this point. I'm not convinced that he will be head and shoulders above Foster in the long run. He could be, but I think it's still too early to say for certain.
Of course, I'm not convinced that Foster will be playing for the Panthers after this season either.
So, Portis has been better than Foster so far, but he could not be significantly better than Foster, but its too early to say for sure. And Foster is gone soon from the Panthers anyways.
This is why I am glad that Charleston is a closet Redskins' city.

LOL, he is all over the place. I may have to register there now and check in regularly to see how the whole Deshaun vs Clinton is going.

Based on that posting, we should have no problem claiming to be the fan board with the most intelligent fans while the rest mire themselves in stupidity!
Thank the Almighty I'm a member of this Fan site!

To say Foster is better than CP is laughable at this point. You just can't argue w/ someone who feels that way, it's a waste of time.

Its time for real football. This Foster-Portis argument is foolish. CP is way better.

This comes as no surprise to me. I was at a bar a few weeks ago and some Steelers fan said he would take Duce Staley over Portis. As a Gamecock, I do like Staley, but over portis. That is just redicolous. Staley hasn't played a full season since USC.

I leave for four days and this is what I see? OMG, who would make such a statement and what hard proof do they have in supporting such a claim. I think it was Councilman that is on those boards making such a silly declaration.

He probably would have taken Plaxico Burress over Chad Johnson six months ago too. Staley wasn't even the best RB on their team last year. What a Homer.

I simply cannot emphasize this enough. Clinton Portis style is a combination of Joe Washington and Marcus Allen.
The one thing to stand out was in spite of the whole team learning something completely new, new staff, and nearly every team they faced, involved with a playoff hunt game, Portis mediocre numbers are more than an average back can handle, let alone how the games actually transpired. I love this game and will enjoy once again, the demonstration of patience, teamwork, character, leadership and courage.

not a knock against you, just most people here tend to be very homer as well.

CP- could get 2000 all purpose yrds this season....1500 for sure Ladell Betts is a great back up but will not be pushing CP for the starting job.
Deshaun- will get more touches than Stephen Davis but could loose the hold on the starting spot to Eric Shelton who is being compared to a young Stephen Davis.....bottom line= the starting job at RB is up in the air

I think he is more punishing than either of those two. Joe Washington squirted about like a waterbug and avoided tacklers. Marcus Allen -- aside from being overrated IMO -- was a very fluid runner with excellent good vision. Neither would really put their shoulder down or drag tacklers. Portis showed a whole lot of that last year. JMO.

That may be the case. But to compare a player who has health troubles, plus fumble problems, its way past the point of being a homer.
Its like a Redskins fan comparing Patrick Ramsey to Brett Favre. Sure, everyone is a homer to some extent. But we're not nearly as delusional as saying that Foster is better than Portis.

I don't think that they are thinking, they are not even in the same boat. They forget that Davis is really the guy that they lean on.

Not anymore, he reportedly just failed a physical and will be put on the PuP list.
