It appears Tiger Woods helped decide when the Washington Redskins will have their bye week this season.
NFL officials would say only that they were aware that the last day of the Presidents' Cup, which will feature the world's top golfers, will be played Sept. 25 in Prince William County when they decided to give the Redskins the earliest bye week in their history.
But another source said PGA officials asked the NFL to leave the schedule open locally, and the league obliged by giving the Baltimore Ravens and the Redskins the weekend off.
Thanks for nothing PGA.... Now I'm boycotting Putt Putt too! :devil2:

I think its ridiculous really, that we "may" have to be inconvenienced because of some golf event.
I understand the reality of trying to coordinate around large events but at what cost?
Anyhow hopefully it works in our favor some how.

Wow, this is really upsetting. A Week 3 bye isn't nearly as helpful as one in the middle of the season, and now we find out that it's because they don't want people to miss their golf tournament.
If we lose to Dallas on Monday night, we have to think about it for two weeks because of this.

I am a big golf fan and a Tiger fan but this just ain't right. I keep forgetting we have a 3rd week bye. I think I'm repressing it. I know some people mentioned what positive things could come from the early bye but I can't seem believe it.

I do see some perks to the early bye. The main one being that, should we (God forbid) start the season 0-2, we'll have the extra week to regroup, and try to work things out. Hopefully, the extra time would be the difference in turning the season around.
Now, to have the bye that early JUST because of Tiger Woods?!? That's some shullbit, and it makes me want to watch the PGA or any professional golfing event even less. They certainly won't be making any money off me.

hahahaha shullbit, hahaha that's a good one, yeah golf and football, they draw different fans, why decide just based on that? I'll still watch football over golf no matter who is playing. I would watch the 2 worst teams play against eachother before i'd watch golf, dont get me wrong, i like to play golf, but to watch it on tv or something, u talk about boring. sorry for all u golf lovers out there, i love to play it, hate to watch it. :Peace:

If we lose to Dallas on Monday night, we have to think about it for two weeks because of this.
But if we win, we'll have 2 weeks to enjoy it.
And it's not really a bad thing to have a bye week right after a monday night game, and to get 2 preparation weeks before a tough game vs Seattle.

I'm not too thrilled about the bye being so early in the schedule. In fact, I HATE this whole "Bye-Week" BS! ......................BUT this year, it worked out in my favor because it's the same week my daughter will be playing in her lacrosse tournament for the fall so I'll be able to head down to good old Gaffney, SC and watch her. :)

I like the bye week where it is. It is early enough that if we get off to a bad start we get a week off to work on things. Also if we are doing well midseason there will be nothing to stop the good momentum we have. Of course it works the other way as well, but this year I think it serves us well.

I agree, good to have the bye follow a Monday night game, rather than to have a short week of preparation.

I don't like an early bye for the obvious reasons!!! What I hope Coach will do is get our Beloved Team off to a 2 - 0 record and then I will have 2 weeks to gloat up here all over the "gints", "iggles" and j-e-t-s" fans !!!!

If we beat Dallas Monday night, it could really bode well...we'll have a week off afterwards, and they'll have a short week to prepare for their next game.

The real problem with an early bye is what it does to your schedule at the end of the year. We get to finish the season with 14 consequetive games...booo. It'll be kinda nice to have an extra week to gloat if we are up 2-0 going into the bye week.
But think of all the indecision if we are 0-2 or even 1-1 coming off a bad loss in Dallas. Some people will be calling for Ramsey's head, others will say he needs more than two games and EVERYONE will be in total disarray for 2 straight weeks.
And either way it kinda screws us later in the season, when other teeams get the chance to re-group and we have to keep plugging along bloody and broken. I almost want Gibbs to just pick a late-season game we are probably gonna lose anyway and play nothing but backups for the whole game, so our starters get a bye. like maybe the chargers if they are still at the same caliber they were at last year.
Obviously, thats not a realistic solution, but Gibbs should be aware of the toll this schedule will take, maybe we see more rotation of players so that they can stay fresh all season long.
Lets hope we build some big leads and our backups get a chance to see action in relief of tired starters.

I like having the BYE week after our game on Monday Night. If not...they would have had a very short week in preparing for the next game.
