The madden midnight madness is horse hockey. When 04 came out, my buddy preordered it and they told him it would be there at midnight. Well, the game didn't get there till 4 am. I'll just wait, get a good nights sleep the day before and stay up all night the day I get it. The sad part is that there were tons of people waiting for the game until 4 am, I tried to talk my buddy out of it, but he kept saying "It'll be here any minute, it'll be here any minute." It was kind of sad really. Some guy brought his girlfriend, who didn't look happy. I believe they broke up right afterwards.

Now that sucks. What happened to your friend (very sad, but similar things have happened to me) and that guy who took his girl.
Who would take their girlfriend anyway?

if you read gamespot.com's review of madden it gives you an idea on how its going to be like...they say its pretty much madden 05 with vision/precision :banghead:

Yeah and apparently the QB vision thing is hard to get used to...basically that was what they said on IGN

I ended up having today and tomorrow at work, so yes, I went and stood in line to get the game at midnight.
It is FANTASTIC.
The vision cone will take a few games to get used to and you will get sacked way more often than you'd like but I'm starting to get the hang of it and the payoff is great. There's finally a reward for using an experienced quarterback instead of just throwing in the fastest one or the one w/ the strongest arm.
The other change I'm loving is the way the receivers react. They really go after the ball this year instead of standing in place while the defenders jump 6 feet in the air to swat it down.
The learning curve is tough but if you love Madden, this could end up being your favorite version yet.
As for the graphics, I have the Xbox version so that's all I can speak for really, but there are noticeable (but not major) improvements. It looks sharper, there are better face models, the presentation is a little nicer. That kinda thing.
Also, the Redskins playbook is very unique it seems. There are a ton of new formations and I'm having a blast just putting guys in motion and seeing what I can come up with. The one downside - NO SHOTGUN AT ALL if you stick w/ the default playbook for the 'Skins.

I personally think that's absurd. The receivers actually try to make plays now. The running game is improved. The controls have been revamped. There are an extremely impressive number of new offensive/defensive formations. Cornerbacks can shade a receiver. You can send a linebacker into double-coverage instead of just a safety.
For the record, the original Gamespot review also talked about how when your quarterback throws an interception, the INT return yards are deducted from his passing yards. It also mentioned how getting sacked resulted in a loss of yardage for the quarterback's individual passing yards (not the team's total yardage as a whole). Neither one of these things are true in the least yet the reviewer wrote a long paragraph about how much they detract from the game.
They had to edit the review several hours after it went up to correct all of his mistakes.

I take back what I've said...I got the game at midnight and played it w/o sleep..lol...i think there' are huge improvements and that the gameplay is more realistic and simulation-like.

The skins O is rated a 69, The D is 87 and we are a 77 overall, not so good. Boschetti is the backup LDE(60 somethin overall), A. Brown isnt on the team , he's a FA and only 63 overall, with a KR of only 84. Sellers is the only FB, Betts, and Cartwright are the HBs along with Portis. Cooley, Royals and Billy "omebody" are the TE's. Gardner is still on the team at WR and DMac is rated ahead of Thrash. Salevea(sp) is only a 71,behind Noble a 78. No stoutmire or dixon at saftey, although they are FA's. No Hawkins at CB or as a FA. Ramseys 85, Bunell 80 and Campbell 78.
The new passing feature is promising but i have to practice....alot...lol.

The rosters are completely up-to-date if you download the version that came out at the game's release, for anybody who goes online w/ the game. Recent enough to include Ty Law on the Jets.
And now to brag a little bit, I'm still undefeated on Xbox live. 4-0! W00t w00t.
Oh and I forgot to mention that the 'Skins offensive rating gets a nice little boost w/ the roster update as well.

You can go to free agents and add him to the roster. Can someone please explain the whole updated roster process? I have the newer skinny PS2, but have dial up so I've never attempted to play on line. Could I still get the updated rosters though? And if so, how oes one go about it? I usually just go to the skins roster before starting a season/franchise and increase each players attributes that has been ranked too low.

yeah, I don't know anything about this either. I have a PS2 and internet but i don't have any hookups or whatever i might need and wouldn't know what to do even if I did have the hookups

Well I have an Xbox and have never been online w/ a Playstation 2, but I do know that you would need to get ahold of the network adapter to get one of those puppies internet-ready. The Xbox is broadband only but I do believe that dial-up would work just fine for the PS2.

I got the game yesterday, and played a game. I have to get use to the passing, the Wr goes after the ball, but it seems like you have to take control of the TE's and RB's in order to catch. The Redskin's playbook sucks!! If that was our offense last season, I can see why we had problems throwing the ball. Overall I think I like it, but I would need some more practice. Portis is a stud on this game.

You've gotta experiment more with the Skins' playbook if you think it sucks. It's the best running system I've ever used.... it's crazy, I wish we had been this good running the ball last year. Even with other teams, I can run wild with Gibbs' playbook.
Passing, however, ain't working out so well, which at least makes it semi-realistic....

The Redskins playbook is great. Seems very limited at first until you find out all the sweet plays are in one of the gajillion singleback formations they've got. Really great running and passing plays in there!

Thanks, I experimented more with it yesterday, and it's better than I thought. I still have alot to work with in the passing game. In Madden 2005 that was my strong point, but so far not in 2006. I love the speed of portis in this game, but right now I'm pretty one dimensional.
