Ok, Wide Receiver is complete, and for the second year in a row, Art Monk has won the Best Ever Wide Receiver poll with 63% of the vote, compared to 2004 where he received 65%. Charley Taylor placed second with 31%, up from 23% in 2004.

Next up, Running Back

Someone should vote for "Dick James, B*tch!"

For me, it was a toss up between Larry Brown and John Riggins. I actually think that Brown was a more talented back, but Riggins did more as a Redskin. [Panache puts Riggins over the top.]

Even though he will not win because very few were alive when he played, but HOFer Cliff Battles should be on the list.

John Riggins was such a strong runner. It was a pleasure seeing players bounce of him. What's more if he got free he could run away from people he was quicker than people imagine. We have not had a more punishing runner.

For me it's between Larry Brown and Riggo. If we were doing Talback/Fullback, then I'd say Larry Brown at tailback and Riggo at Fullback.

Best Runnng back has to be Riggo.

My thoughts exactly. Gotta go with Riggo in the end.

I think Cliff Battles would have warranted a spot on this list more than alot of the other candidates, namely Bill Dudley only 3 yrs w/ club, Dick James whose stats are no where near Battles, Justice only 4 yrs w/ club, terry allen only 3 yrs w/ club,
And probably even Stephen Davis who only started here 3 yrs, and Joe Washington that played here 4 years but was never the feature back.
Another name that probably could have garnered a slot would be Mike Thomas, who had a few very good years before being traded to SD.
So it comes down to Bad Bad Larry Brown who won a league MVP in '72 and the Diesel. I hated JR for his 1 yr. hiatus but, that playoff run in '82 helped make ammends for his transgression. Got to go w/ the SuperBowl MVP #44. The Hogs and Riggins were a match made in heaven.

Wasn't there a warning issued about using asterisks?

Where is Timmy Smith???

I know that Riggo will win this poll hands down but I had to go with an emotional pick for Stephen Davis.

I really think he did a lot for the skins and showed me a lot by working his way into the starting RB position. His one season at FB meant more to this team and ultimately his career than anyone will ever give him credit for. He transitioned from serviceable backup to top 5 featured running back after learning more about blocking, pass catching, and reading defenses as the FB.

I thought long and hard about voting for Larry Brown. But in the end, I voted for John Riggins.

John Riggins is my model citizen:

He's from Kansas

Played football for Kansas university

then became a legend with the Redskins.

What's not to love? All in all though i had to go with Trung Candidate for his "flashes of brilliance" while with the rams and skins... :lol1:

While I'm sure Riggo will get the nod here, I voted for Larry Brown. A dominant, bruising back on some bad teams with a suspect line. It was good while it lasted.

Bad Teams? Hardly.

1976 10-4 .714 playoffs
1975 8-6 .571
1974 10-4 .714 playoffs
1973 10-4 .714 playoffs
1972 11-3 .786 superbowl
1971 9-4-1 .692 playoffs
1970 6-8 .429
1969 7-5-2 .583

71-38-3 .634

Made playoffs 5 times in 8 years with one superbowl trip. Only had one losing season, and that is the one Lombardi died during training camp, setting the tone for the year.
