I'll miss David Loverne jumping before the snap 5 times a game. Yeah, right...
I already miss the UF posters telling us how great SM and DW will do....Yeah, right...:D
Seriously, I'll miss Darrell Green the most. Not sure how I feel about Davis yet. Guess we'll have to see how our running goes befor I can say to that.
Definately will miss the retros too.

Davis....I love dhim here, but will I miss him, I dont think so because of my excitement to see Trung, Betts, Watson,a nd Morton battling for the numebr one spot. I will mis Darrell big time, it won't be the same.
For may of here in the forum, we are of the age, 20's 30's where if we remember when the first time we were Redskins fans, too many of us Green was already ont he team, or coming within a few seasons. This will be odd, different, sad, wierd.
I will miss the retro unis to. Damn Snyder. Lets keep them.

I was watching the DC United soccer game on Saturday and was thinking how much I miss RFK. Its hard to see RFK and except the fact that we will never see the Redskins play another game there. I think Snyder should have a pre-season game there sometime. I know he wont due to the money that he'll lose out on but I can wish....

I will not miss Davis. I don't think he was the exceptional stud everyone seems to think he was. While he was good, and good for us, I think we'll be better than fine without him. Mainly because we will have a great offensive line.
(just watch him struggle in Carolina)
Everyone will miss green
We will miss Gardener
I still miss the Cards in our division.
Other than that, we will be MUCH better off this season than last.

Davis was a stud while here. No questions about that. He was our offense and I will definately miss him. Darrell Green will be missed as well. I really miss RFK. I'll miss the retros too, I think they gave us a bolder look.

Davis took advantage of a system built around him...trust me...we won't miss him. I know no one sees it my way on this, but we're better off without him.
I liked the retro's as well...BUT, I hated the helmets. I love our logo, if we could have kept our logo / helmet and kept the retro jerseys, I would have been fine with that. (although we'd need to change the red in our helmet to the burgandy it's supposed to be.

Ditto. Jsarno the same can be said about every player in the league. Of course the system is tailored for Davis he's the freakin RB!! He touches the ball 20 times a game who do you want the system tailored too, Albert Connell?! Many RB's/QB's/WR's have the system tailored to them and they F-L-O-P anyways.

i thought about this thread because i was going thru all my old tapes, and i game across some game tapes from the 1999-2000 season. i watched some of the games against the ravens and eagles, both wins:D. anyhow, one of my most favorite plays was when davis stiff armed rod woodson to the ground and scooted to the endzone for a 33 yard TD. then i thought, man, im gonna miss that. also, the games against the eagles when darrell intercepted an ill advised pass from mcnabb to win us the game. then i though, man, im gonna miss him too. i also watched the preseason game against the 49ers last year when they were wearing the retros and the i thought, those uniforms look really good under the lights.
like PennSkinsFan said, ever since ive been watched the redskins, darrell green has been on the field. so for the first time ever, for me, he wont be there :(. about davis, im gonna miss the only offense we've had for the last 4 years and the way he played (when healthy), but i do think we will be better off without him.

I doubt very much Davis will struggle in Carolina. I am predicting 1500 yards and 15 tds for Carolina.

Faulk is a flat out stud, system or not.
Emmitt was not even close to the best ever and it makes me sick to hear his name above sweetness. He probably is the poster child for benefiting from his system.
You guys will all see...I'm making a mental note that NO ONE thinks we'll be better off without Davis. North SOuth runners are a thing of the past boys.
I liked Davis when he was here, but I think we'll be much better off without him and how the system has progressed.

Davis will do just fine in Carolina. The offense is commited to giving him the rock 25-30 times per game and they have a very good defense. Assuming he stays healthy he could easily post 1300-1500 with 8-12 TD's.
This in not the NFL of old Jsarno. Just about everyteam will be competing for a spot in the playoffs. Welcome to Parity.
I also think we will be just fine without him. He needs a coach commited to the run and we know that Spurrier is not. Trung will do just fine in our system.

can't see that happening. I'm sure he'll get 25+ carries a game...but at a cost. Like maybe 3.5 yards per carry. See, you have to have a passing game for the running game to work. Do you think any defense will play the pass over trying to stop Davis??????

I love it that way too. This is why the Skins have just as good a shot as anyone to make it to the super bowl.

I'm confused about a couple of things.
First, where did the debate start about who's the best ever? My point is those runners benefitted from the system that was built to center around them. It seems that you are agreeing with my point and disagreeing with it at the same time. I'm not sure.
Secondly, I thought that the initial question was who would the individual poster miss this upcoming season. I am the biggest Davis fan here, but I do realize that we are better off here without him, simply because he wouldn't be utilized in the way that it takes for him to be effective. I will always believe that Davis could have been effective in Spurrier's offense if Spurrier himself was willing to give him a chance to be. That is either here nor there now, but a belief that I personally will always have. That's just me though.

CONTRADICTION ALERT: If our Redskins have just as good a shot as anybody to improve enough to make the Super bowl why can't the panthers make such an improvement that Davis can rush for 1500 yds? Why are the '03 Panthers inferior before pre-season even starts and we have the same chance as anyone to win it all?
Jsarno your logic is as shady as your math. You don't know who's who in this league until the february after. Apparently your in better with the football gods then the rest of us so maybe you can enlighten us w/ an answer to all this tom foolery.
I already have PSF penciled as a stout supporter of the Trung acquisition, you can keep redbeard though.

Do not be fooled Carolina has made some good moves to improve thier offensive line.
Jon Gross and Bruce Nelson at center, were drafted and Doug Brzezinski was signed to help at guard. Iwill still say Davis will hit 1500 yards and 15 tds. I might be wrong but This is my gut feeling

But the same cannot be said about Barry Sanders. HE Never and I repeat Never had a line to block for him. Why do you think he left the game like he did. He was tired of the Lions fuckin him over every off season by not picking up any real talent on the offensive line. and still he was a preimer back until the day he retired. Hell i'll even go on the limb and say IF he had stayed in the league and gotten a decent team with a decent (just Decent mind you) he would be the one who broke sweetness' record not Emmitt.
and as far as missing MR. Green takes all three of my picks, one for the 80's, one for the 90's, and one for the new millenium. then comes davis and then gardener.

That site doesn't provide good enough information for me to miss him, that's for sure. The past 3 years he's averaged only 4.0 yards per carry. Most NFL runningbacks can handle that!!!! (if you look a little closer, you'll see only one completely healthy season) and even with him breaking the Skins record for rushing yards, we were only 8-8.
Give me a guy that gets 4.5 yards a carry, and can catch out of the backfield and we'll progress by leaps and bounds.

I won't miss Davis just because of the key fumbles he'd make, especially the ones against Dallas. But I still respect him as a quality back. I don't consider him a top 5 back (or even top 10 which his money did) and as I was in favor of going with Davis instead of Terry Allen when TAs contract numbers starting going through the roof in the 90s, the same goes with Davis. No hard feeling though, I'll keep be keeping an eyeball on him & be wishing him well. My bet is though, Davis will miss Samuels & Jansen more than Samuels & Jansen will miss him.

First off, Trung had a 5.7 yard per carry average when he started. You CLEARLY don't recall when he stepped in for Faulk back in 01 and did better than anyone in the country.
Second, Morton is our PR, and kickoff returner. He won't get many snaps at RB.
If you always went by pure stats, no rookie would ever get a chance to start. Trung is a better reciever out of the backfield, and he has more speed.

People are awfully protective aren't they. Personally I've found outside of Redskin country it all goes with out saying *LOL*. Everyone gives him the due he deserves without being disillusioned about him being an all-world RB.
Obviously Trung with all that speed got first crack at the job. If he shines it's all his. But Morton's college coach is on staff, so he know the guys quality & limitations. I'm interested in how those guys do. I'm skeptical on Betts, but still want to see another year on him. Watson I think a little better of, but don't see anything but an average coming out of him, so dito on another year. My hope is Trung or Morton rises above the crowd. Otherwise draft the best value next year in 2-4 round.

 see ya sept.4th
Our special teams just flat out sucked...we gave up yards everywhere!!!
So 1.59 mil a season is chump change to have the best or possibly the best kr / pr in the game.
I really do feel bad for you. I'm a Red Sox fan (originally from Boston) and I always feel like they don't get who we need...I know it sucks to be close and not take that extra step to make it all the way.

in reply to your question above, pls note TexSkin's above remarks : " . . . . I think Martin is one of the most underated backs in football. The guys still has plenty of gas left in the tank. As long as he can stay healthy he is still a 1000 yard back. "

1) I'll miss Darrell Green
2) and Stephen Davis
I'm a fan.
Sorry, but I used to love to see the other team hanging off of him like Christmas ornaments as he surged for a few more yards.
3) And Joe Gibbs
What?
I miss Gibbs every year...
