View Full Version : Less Than 36 Hours To Go!

I can hardly contain myself. I've been waiting for so long. Too long. We've all had to deal with the circus that has been the offseason. We've had to swallow hard while the sportswriting glitterati slammed Coach Gibbs for months without the possibility of any real reply. Yet, almost surreally, in less than 36 hours it will all be replaced with the glory of REAL FOOTBALL!

We are on the cusp of the 2005 season. Our chance to show that Redskins of old have returned is upon us and I'm about to explode. I know it's just preseason and that the offense will be generic. I understand that the starters might only see 10 plays or so and that we'll be watching folks who might well be working as Deer Park delivery guys in a few weeks, but I don't care. It's football! Cook 'em baby! Cook 'em!!!

I have no idea how I am going to get ANY work done today. :D

Yip, and I want to see:

1. Who starts at S, Matt Bowen ro Ryan Clark,a nd who does a better job.

2. Who stands out? McCants, Brown, Dyson, or Jacobs

3. Who does the best job of blocking TE. I have a feelign woudl coudl be shocked and the winner he could be Billy Baber

4. Middle Linebacker is such an important position int he pre-season. let's roll! May the best player win

and

5. I want to see excellent blocking and adaptability to the new run block schemes.

I can't wait to see 50/50 get POPPED in the mouth by everyone on our D, especially ST. Actually, I hope NO ONE hits him and he has a great preseason... I'll sacrifice this one game for that 6th round pick.

I'm gonna need a full report. Sucks being a Skins fan in Manhattan and not having Direct TV. No injuries is the key, please no injuries!!!

A Post article today says that Bowen and Clark are actually flip flopping work with the 1st unit. I have a sense that the starter will be determined by whatever package the defense opens with.........

The same Post article says that Jacobs will not be playing tonight.

Agreed. I think the term "starter" is a fuzzy thing in GW's system.

Just watching Burgundy and Gold running around is enough for me.

I want to see how the Oline handle the D line of the Panthers that will tell me volumes. Our recievers in action would be nice too and I really hope we dont go Vanilla. People always say dont show people what you got, but thats just DUMB IMO. When your offense was terrible last year how do you expect to put fear in Defenses. if you dont show them you are capable of lighting it up. Then when they know you are legit the blitzes will back off and so will the men in the box. That all leads to us being able to run and play the way we dictate.

I just want the offense (starters & then the backups) to score some touchdowns & move the ball effectively. We need to get somethings clicking during preseason, so when the regular season starts we will have our "MOJO" up & running! Of coures, I already expect the defense to show up!

i'm looking forward to seeing rod gardner have his nickname changed from 50/50 to 20/80 after he gets the "fear of sean" put into him.

i'm also looking forward to see wilds play at corner. i really am surprised walt harris is starting above him. i think wilds is the better corner.

Based on what, the 2 quarters he played at CB last year?

My guess:

1. Probably fairly equal.
2. Not Jacobs... he is out. I'm hoping Brown.
3. Not sure, but I hope to see some power running from te Jumbo package.... Maybe Friedman out at TE?
4. Agree.
5. Agree, but I also hope the pass blocking is there... I'm nervous b/c the o-line hasn't been good in recent years despite having good players.

Hmm so i have less than 36 hrs to find a radio station over the internet to listen to without paying for NFL field pass. I think i can do it!!

considering he was covering the best receiver to play in the NFL in a game where a win would have secured that teams playoff hopes, and considering that player was so frustrated, he abandoned his team and walked off the field before the game was over.... yes.

Wilds was not convering Moss all by himself and not all the time. He had plenty of help.

Not to mention that Moss was hopping around on one leg in the 2nd half of that game.

I believe that Gardner is starting for the Panthers in this game, I will be rolling if he drops the first pass.

you can listen to the games live on the internet on redskins radio. i know that's at least true for regular season, but i don't see why they wouldn't air preseason games too!

Surely, you don't mean the best reciever EVER. That distinction is so far out of sight its not even funny.

i think when i was typing it, i originally said best receiver in the last 10 years, then i realized jerry rice was still being pretty darn good in the last 10 years, so i changed it, but evidently didnt correct my wording. I personally think randy moss is the best CURRENTLY in the NFL. I think TO is pretty close, but presently, it appears he may not be playing much. :-)

I'm with Spence. The main thing is for everyone to come out healthy. I'd like to see the offense stretch the field a little bit, but I know Gibbs is going to keep it conservative and vanilla.

Just, please, everyone stay healthy.

its not going to actually hit me until the hour before the game, but i cant believe we finally made to day we get the football season officially kicked off.

i really just hope for 3 things: *cohesion on the OL *seeing rod gardner get knocked around by taylor *absolutely NO injuries on either team.

You guys would do well not to get your hopes up in seeing many of the new wrinkles that Gibbs and Co. have in store. I would anticipate lots of vanilla. We may see shotgun as that was highly publicized, but new blocking schemes etc.......In my best Donnie Brasco voice "Fuggit about it".

Sunday Ticket only applies to regular season Sunday games broadcast on CBS and FOX. Pre-season and Saturday games are not included.

I know the game is being re-broadcast on NFL Network later in the week. They are showing it live here in Los Angeles.

Don't get upset, mate. If you ordered the Sunday Ticket today, you just did yourself the greatest favor you'll ever do. The Sunday Ticket puts the word "brilliant" into a whole new light. You're about see so much football, you'll forget an outside world even exists. It's fantastic.
