Ok, i think all of us, including myself, have cursed about half a dozen (or more) players on our team for showing us they dont deserve to play professional football. But lets have a thread with ZERO negativity.

What did you LOVE about the game tonight? What made it all worthwhile, despite the final outcome of the game?

I'll give you mine:

1. Jason Campbell. Sure, he played against 3rd stingers, but damn did he look poised. For his first outing, he played a flawless game, in my opinion. His first pass should have been a completion. So should his last. All but one of his passes was right on the money, whether the receivers who were there just to try out for a longshot on the practice squad caught the ball or not. He ran the 2 minute drill twice with CONFIDENCE and POISE and we all know, whatever happens this year, next year, this guy is going to lead us to victory.

2. Mark Brunell. There was an article recently where Mark Brunell said he had 4 or 5 years left in him. I laughed when I read it. I was an idiot. He does have 4 or 5 years left in him and GOOD YEARS at that! Mark showed that he can lead this team and get the job done. ALL the problems that caused him to lose the starting job last year were non-existant. His arm looked good, he threw a better deep ball than Ramsey, and that 60 yarder was accurate as hell. Now we know why Gibbs didnt want to give up on this guy. He appears to have returned to the form that made him the 11th rated passer in NFL history and showed why Gibbs wanted him in the 1st place.

I'll stop there. There were a TON of rookies and FA's we got this year that looked great, but i'll let you guys talk about them. I'm just glad we've got some AWESOME depth at the QB position. We dont have a payton manning, but I would say we possibly have the best DEPTH in the league.

I was really excited to see Matt Bowen back in the mix. He sure made a stupid mistake on that borked-up block field goal, but other then that, he stuck his nose in there, and played pretty good for coming back from a serious knee injury last year. I'm excited about Bowen coming back.

Also, I was really pleased with Casey Rabach. He pointed out all the blitzes and pass protections, and proved he was a definate upgrade from Corey Raymer (who I'm glad we still have as a backup). It's tough as nails to pick up a good, proven center in this league, and I feel we did a damn good job with Casey Rabach... I'm excited about the O-line as whole.

I liked the pass protection :)

I'll go with the more obscure, good things I saw today.

Zak Keasey(sp?) seems to be this years version of 'one a day'. Like James Thrash many years ago, Zak makes a big play every day. Today it was a sack, our only one I think.

Pierson Prioleah(sp??) had a big hit playing safety, on a Carolina RB and a nice open field tackle on special teams, that prevented what would have been a big return for the Pussycats.

the offensive line surprised me. the pass protection was pretty good all night and hoped up some decent holes for the RBs.

mark brunell had a much better showing than i expected, granted it was against the back ups, but he stunk against the back ups last year.

campbell. we may look back on the 2005 draft and call it genius.

nemo looked good out there in his first real live action.

i was pleased to see rock out there making some plays and trying to keep his spot on the team.

tupa can still boot that ball. :)

1. QB Mark Brunel and QB Jason Campbell both went down field and stretched the field.

2. DT Aki Jones, he was all over the run and looked strong and fast on the inside of the DL.

3. The OL looked good opening holes and in protection especially Dockery who in my opinion owned Kris Jenkins.

Man, that's almost it....lest we forget about that SICK post route Moss ran on Ramsey's INT - I think Pat was just shocked that it also worked in a GAME :) - that's his preseason mulligan. 1. The person that probably impressed me the most was nemo. To be a big back he has a burst.

2. Rock also looked good out there, the skins will have a tough decision on which backs to keep and which one to cut.

3. Brunell really surprised me. His arm looked live, and he had good mobility.

4. A. Brown looked good at WR

5. Betts looks great!! We may have a problem keeping him once his contract expires.

Receivers were getting open

The QB had time to pass all night.

We gave up no sacks.

Although there were no huge runs, there were no negative yards I cant remember a back being tackled in the backfield. It may have happened but it was not a regular thing like last year.

No injuries

Oh yeah the shotgun worked very nicely yesterday

After severely bashing this group for a long time,I think that I have to give kudos and congrats to the O-Line.Their pass protection was awesome.
Let's see if they can maintain this level of play throughout the season.

I also thought Brunell,Campbell, and Dyson looked good.

I was pleased with that special teams play involving ST and Bowen, at least from an entertainment perspective. I mean, that was FUN, and then at the end the refs gave the ball back to the skins. I was laughing my butt off.

Betts looked great. Quick, fast, and slashing, and that reception he made was great.

Rock Cartwright looked like he has matured, and like he knows what he is doing out there.

Nemo: nice running. He looks like a keeper.

A. Brown definitely a threat on Special Teams. I like that he runs north & south. Takes the yards that are there.

Brunnel: Now I feel much better about the QB situation.

Ramsey: I actually think that Ram will settle down once he gets into a rhythm. I expect that to happen next game.

O-line: great job. Definitely improved from last year. NO SACKS. The QB's had all day to throw. Wilson & Molinaro are coming along nicely.

Cooley and the TE's. Great catches and yards after the catches.

I liked the tempo I saw from the offense last night. Getting in and out of the huddle and to the line. Seems like they've fixed this issues they had last season.

Brunell, did he visit the The Fountain of Youth? His passes looked sharp and accurate.

The offensive line did very well in my opinion.

Antonio Brown could really change the coaches thinking on who to keep at WR.

I feel great about the O-line and if the time comes when Portis does get hurt (praying that he doesn't), I'm happy we have another good running back behind him. I can say the same with Brunell. Nemo proved he's here to stay.

You know, i didnt even really notice how well it worked!!!! im so used to seeing other teams use it effectively, i didnt even think at how for gibbs, that was probably the #1 thing he was looking at in this game. Since it worked so well, he may be inclined to use it even more in the regular season! ALL 3 of his quarterbacks looked comfortable with it. Great point flave!

I only "watched" on NFL.com...

But I like the pass protection (or the fact we gave up no sacks) and Nemo. That guy is going to be a fan favorite.

Only the positives ... OK. I like the O-Line play, the rookies did OK, the blocked FG was nice to see, Brunell's arm was strong, and most important - NO INJURIES.

I'm glad to see lots of people mention the O-Line but I think most of you understated how good they were. Carolina has an outstanding defensive line, perhaps the best in the league, and they did squat. The holes were big and the pass protection was there. In case you didn't already know it, the Redskins are going to win games by ramming the RB down their throats. Sure, Gibbs may add some outside runs but the bread and butter will be winning the line battle. Didn't do that last year. Janson, Samuals and Rabach along with the maturation of Dockery (did you see him shove that DT on his back!?!) plus Randy Thomas=one hell of an O-line. Hail to the dirtbags!

1) I thought both the 1st and 2nd team OL played very well. I liked how Dockery handled Kris Jenkins.

2) Jason Campbell looked good. He has a strong, accurate arm and poise in the pocket. He made a few rookie mistakes but they are coachable.

3) Nemo Broughton looked very good as a runner, blocker and receiver out of the backfield. So did Rock Cartwright. It'll be interesting to see what happens here because they're both not gonna make it.

4) Mark Brunell must've had an arm transplant during the offseason. He made some nice throws and appeared to have FAR more zip on his passes. I'm now receptive to thinking of him as a capable backup QB.

5) All of the safeties played well. Bowen looks like he's back 100% while Prioleau and Stoutmire were around the ball all night. All of them had at least a nice hit or two.

The thing that I liked the most was that not only did our starting line play fantasticly, the but 2nd stringers played so well you would think they were our starters! Our two rooks from last year have progressed very nicely at tackle, Friedman was great at Guard where I think he belongs, Raymer had more of a push than he did all last year and who can forget the unbelieveable Ray Brown who looked who must have eaten his Wheeties 'cause he looked as young as anyone out there at his guard posistion.

I'm very happy at the depth we have this year since that was our biggest downfall last season.

I was real impressed with the way ramsey didnt/couldnt set his feet when throwing the ball. maybe all those hits during the spurrier campaign did damage his psyche.

Nice to see Jon Jansen on the field and John Hall boot a nice 42 yard FG.

But like what was said up above NO INJURIES. thats the real score

Positives…….

1. No Injuries…..except my stomach after eating the stadium’s nacho’s….

2. Big Jon and Bowen back

3. The O-Line played well……

3. Our 2nd and 3rd string QB’s looked good…….was that really Brunell?

4. Not really worried about the “Kitty Kats” first team scoring against us in the first half…….they were playing against our D with over half of the starters out..

5. Seeing all my fellow Skin Fans at the game……

No serious injuries. I'll always take that as a positive... win or loss.

As far as injuries, of course its great to have minimal injuries. Thats more of a given than a positive because that goes for every single day or week.

Sure there are positives in a preseason loss and I saw quite a few. I like to think that I have a coaches mentality, or maybe thats just wishful dreaming. Anyway the coaching staff, with the positives in the back of there mind, they are certainly going to be focused on the negatives in this week in practice. As they should...

McCants was a Posse fan while growing up in Gambrills. "I'm the Art Monk of the group," McCants said.
