View Full Version : Your FFL team

Hey everyone, I didnt see a thread for this, but I thought it would be neat if we all posted the players who were on our FFL Team. I have never done FFL before and my brother and I are in a foxsports leage called Fight Club. (Nice, huh!) Since we hadn't done it before, we did this autodraft thing, where you pre-selected the players you wanted, but you can also get stuck with some duds, too. Anyway, I think I did pretty well. Here's my team:

QBs: Tom Brady AND Drew Brees!
RBs: Clinton Portis, Marcel Shipp (Arizona) and Anthony Thomas (Dallas-yuck! I am going to get rid of him ASAP!)
WR's: Santana Moss, Mushin Muhummad, K. Colbert, Rod Smith, and Charles Rogers (Detroit)
TEs: Chris Cooley AND Heath Miller. Choices, choices....
K: John Carney

Defense: Redskins!!!!

Keep the thread around and I'll post my team after the 9/7 draft.

my team that I am in with my buddies is stacked.

QB: Tom Brady and Matt Hasselbek
RB: E. James, Clinton Portis, Fred Taylor, JJ Arrington
WR: Torry Holt, Ashly Lelie, Andre Johnson (huge fall off after that)
TE: T. Gonzalez and Doug Jolley
K: Jason Elam
DEF: Carolina and Tampa Bay

12-owner Keeper League in its 4th season. (Keepers identified with a "K")

The Gibbs' F'Bombs
QB Matt Hasselbeck (K)
QB Kurt Warner
RB LaDainian Tomlinson (K)
RB Clinton Portis (K)
RB Brian Westbrook
RB T.J. Duckett
RB Michael Turner
WR Laveranues Coles
WR Steve Smith (K)
WR Deion Branch
WR Keyshawn Johnson
WR Matt Jones
TE Jason Witten
PK Jason Elam (K)
TM Panthers

Overall, I'm VERY excited about my RB depth. The WR corp doesn' have any studs...but my four top WRs are all WR1s on their respective teams. My biggest weakness is at QB.

My team in a different league:

QB: Peyton Manning
RB: Priest Holmes
RB: Tiki Barber
WR: Drew Bennett
WR: Ashley Lelie
WR: Muhsin Muhammad
TE: Chris Cooley
DL: KGB
DB: Sean Taylor
D/ST: Washington
K: David Akers
and since they made us pick a head coach, I picked Marvin Lewis. It's an ESPN league.

Got a couple of nice backups, including Troy Williamson who I hope starts, Bubba Franks, and I made sure to trade for Larry Johnson so in case Priest gets injured, Larry can step in there and keep the show going.

Here is the team I hope will lead me to another championship for this year:

QBs - Favre, Tom Brady
RBs - Jamal Lewis, Deuce McCallister, Curtis Martin, Mike Anderson
WRs - Randy Moss, Andre Johnson, Santana Moss, Justin McCareins
TEs - Chris Cooley, Ben Watson
K - Matt Stover
DSTs - Tampa Bay, Jacksonville

I think I have a good chance, I was miraculously able to snag Martin late (its a keeper league, I guess no one wanted him cause of his age), and I got Mike Anderson off the waiver wire after it looked like Tatum Bell would be the starter. I feel that my team is incredibly deep and I will never have to sacrifice a win when one of my stars has a bye week. I definitely still think I am the team to beat.

The only thing that concerns me about Wayne and the other Colts' receivers is that there are so many good WRs on that team that one of them will not produce and 1 will overproduce. Gamble.

Some drafts value some positions over others...likewhen the recievers start going ealry second sometimes... Like I got Alexander at the 5 and Barber at the 2o...whyen in others those are both top 5's...

Alright, this is in a 10 team league, and I have never seen a league devalue RB's as much as this one. This is the league I am commish of, with a bunch of my friends and work assoc. A bit weaker at QB then I would like, but I got trade potentail out the ying yang. Here goes:

QB: Plummer, Griese
RB: Holmes, Portis, K.Jones, Westbrook, D.Foster
WR: Wayne, S.Smith, Branch, Stokely, L. Evans
TE: D. Clark
K: Wilkens
D/ST: Denver

I may trade for another TE and possibly a QB, but comeon! How did I get all these freakin RB's and WR's???? I kept wanting to draft other positions but RB's kept falling out of the sky!!

standard FF drafting says take the best running backs early, it's hard to argue with tomlinson, alexander, and holmes as your top three. having the number 1 player be a quarterback isn't odd at the end of the season, but generally you can get similar production later in the draft, whereas with running backs, you drop off in production VERY fast. this is an odd situation where manning really does put that many more points on the board to make him worth that pick. i probably would have passed on him had alexander or LT been on the board and then targeted bulger or green later on. once you get past those three running backs, though, you don't get anywhere near the production that merits passing up manning. the only thing that scares me is whether Martin and Rudi Johnson will suffice as my running backs.

I'm in two different leagues. One has Defensive players in it..i'll post that one first. I drafted 5th. It's a 8 team league:

2 QB: McNabb, Brady, Carr
3 WR: C. Johnson, D. Jackson, S. Smith, S. Moss, J. Galloway
2 RB: C. DIllon, R. Johnson, C. Williams, C. Benson

3 DL: J. Peppers, N. Barnett, M. Washington, K. Gbaja-Biamila
2 DB: M. Trufant, S. Taylor, R. Williams

Not a bad team, but everyone seems to be equal in that league. The other league is outrageous. 3 good teams and everyone else must've been hit in the head before the draft. (Braylan Edwards was taken 4th OVERALL!!!) I drafted 2nd. It's a 8 team league:

1 QB: Manning, Palmer
3 WR: Harrison, A. Johnson, D. Jackson, S. Smith, J.Porter
2 RB: C. Portis, R. Johnson, F. Taylor, L. Johnson

I just had a friend email me about his keeper league team. He had a question about his QB but here are the 5 of 6 players he has now:

LT, LJ, TO, Harrison and Walker!!!!! I told him to bag the QB to be fair to the other teams in his league.

Funny! I thought I was doing a mock draft but it actually turned out to be the real thing. Anyway, I think I did well for myself, considering I picked 8th out of 10 teams. The settings are 1 QB, 1 RB, 1 RB/WR, 2 WR, 1 TE, 1 DEF, 1 K. Here's my team:

QBs
Donovan McNabb (s)
Jake Plummer

RBs
Clinton Portis (s)
Rudi Johnson (s)
Duece McAllister
Ladell Betts

WRs
Santana Moss (s)
Darrell Jackson (s)
Donte Stallworth
Michael Clayton
Eric Moulds

TEs
Alge Crumpler
Heath Miller (Haven't decided on a starter yet but leaning towards Alge, depending on his recovery from surgery)

K
Shayne Graham

DEF
Carolina (s)
Seattle

You have a different format than I am used to. I have never played a league that drafted defensive players, seems like a waste of time.

Anyhow, trade either Cooley or Lloyd. That's too many eggs in one basket. I would trade both actually. It is not so bad to have the RB and WR for a team but to have the 3 starting receivers is ridiculous. You'll be praying one of them perform's each week, while your opponent has three receivers all scoring.

Don't take me wrong, I'm just trying to help. I have made the same mistakes.
Try and trade Lloyd first and if you want, come back here for advice with the offers.
For that matter, make all three receivers available to see what offers you can get but remember that Moss and Cooley are among the top 5 at their position, so don't trade them for less just to balance your team.

Feel free to pm me if you have any other questions. All my teams drafting are going to be done on autopilot this year, unfortunately, so I have no problem helping somebody else.

Welcome to hR, BTW! Don't be afraid to post in the other forums.

Big Ben's Helmet

Starters

QB: Ben Roethlisberger
RB: Ladanian Tomlinson
WR: Larry Fitzgerald
WR: Donald Driver
TE: Chris Cooley
WR/TE: Reggie Brown
WR/RB: Chester Taylor
K: Ryan Longwell
DEF: Washington

Bench
QB: Philip Rivers
QB: Chad Pennington
RB: Frank Gore
WR: Braylon Edwards
WR: Reche Caldwell
TE: Zach Hilton

Questions

If Caldwell can perfom in New England with Brady then he is a possibility. But will he be the #3 receiver behind Givens and Branch. Will he have any gas left in the tank?

Does Braylon Edwards connect with Frye a lot this year? Or is losing LeCharles Bentley going to hurt Frye's time in the pocket? Does Winslow coming back take away catches from Edwards?

Does Zach Hilton emerge as a sleeper in New Orleans to become Brees's new Antonio gates? If so, then does Reggie Brown get pushed into the #2 WR role, pushing Driver out of the equation completely, or does Reggie Brown slump in his sophomore year?

Can Donald Driver be the big shot in Green Bay now that Javon Walker is gone? Does Favre still have an arm to get Driver the ball? Favre's looked sharp in the preseason, so I have to go with Driver as my number 2 receiver going into the season.

Do Big Ben's motorcycle accident injuries pop up during the middle of the season? If so, can Rivers be the number one guy in San Diego, and the number one quarterback on my team?

Who does better: Chester Taylor or Frank Gore? Taylor is headed to a Running Back's version of purgatory while Gore is stuck in Suck Francisco. Taylor gets the start until Gore can prove he's a number one back, even though Taylor is really in the same position to prove. This one may come down to the better offense, which is your choice of 31 teams in the league. Not San Fran.

This is my 12-owner Keeper league team in its 5th season that I participate in with Keino:

The Gibbs F'Bombs

QB
Matt Hasselbeck
Kurt Warner

RB
Ladanian Tomlinson

Cedric Benson
Ladell Betts (drafted before TJ signing)
Brandon Jacobs

WR
Steve Smith
Chris Chambers
Andre Johnson
Nate Burleson
Brandon Lloyd

TE
Jason Witten

PK
Jason Elam

I've been the "paper champion" each of the last four seasons...and while I've been to the playoffs in 3 of those 4 years, I've never won my Chip. This year will be different. ;)

Corey Dillon
Jamal Lewis
Jerious Norwood(r)

WR
Plaxico Burress
Rod Smith
Keenan McCardell
Isaac Bruce
Mark Clayton

The stars are going to have to allign properly for me to compete for the ring. Jamal has to basically be Comeback player of the year and Plax needs to improve upon last year's solid effort.

how many did you get to keep? i don't get how you'd be able to put together Smith, LT, Portis, Chambers and Hasselbeck.

You keep:

1QB, 1RB, 1WR, 1 K or Def & 1 other.

He acquired Portis in the last round of the draft Portis' rookie year and drafted LT. Chambers was acquired either in 10 round keeper draft or via trade...I don't really remember. This league started in 2001.

Here is another team....all of us in the same division.

QB Donovan McNabb
RB Shaun Alexander

This guy won the ring last year. His 2nd. This team is weaker than last year, as a function of the rules. Every year the 1st 2 rounds are in order of last to 1st and doesn't snake until the 3rd round. So this means that after designating 5 keepers, in the 10 round draft, the worst team has picks 1 and 13. The 1st place team has picks 12, 24 & 25.

It was actually 2002 when we started not 2001. I think he drafted Tomlinson 3rd overall in the 2002 draft and got Portis in last round (15th).

As he said, he's always had the best team on paper, but it hasn't seem to go his way.

The other team I posted won it the 1st year, I won it in year 2, another guy in year 3 and the the 1st year guy won it in 05.

Yeah...I drafted LT at 1.8 in his rookie year...and drafted Portis in last round (or close to it) in his rookie year. (This came shortly after he fumbled a dozen times in the presesason) I drafted S. Smith last year when his stock was low due to his injury, and drafted Hasselbeck in mid-rounds last year. Chambers was drafted this year.

My team in my Philly bragging rights league: (10 teams, I drafted in the 9th position)

WR- Marques Colston, Darrell Jackson, Greg Jennings, Jerricho Cotchery,

WR- Joe Horn, Marty Booker, Nate Burleson

RB- Joseph Addai, Maurice Jones-Drew, Julius Jones

TE- Chris Cooley, Greg Olsen

K- Jason Hanson, Olindo Mare

Defense: Julius Peppers, Ty Warren, Will Smith

DB- Adrian Wilson, Chris Hope

DL- Keith Bulluck, Luis Castillo

BN: Kevin Williams, Richard Seymour

I realize that I drafted too many DL, but i pretty much went with the best available scenerio, esp. considering that i did minimal work on the defensive players.

Which DB should I target for a trade? Most of the guys in the league are hurting when it comes to defensive players (one of my best guy friends did no research and went with the point and click method of drafting).

Target one with a lot of tackles, those are usually the best bet. As to who that would be, I know Rogers gets a lot of tackles. Try Polamalu if you can, he's a freelancer and basically has no responsibilities in the Steelers D, so he can probably pick up a lot of points.

Well, it was really lucky actually, this is drafting with my family, who only has one other Skins fan (the rest being Colts/Cowboys fans) and that guy was a moron (picked up a the b-more D in the second and Adam Viniteri [sp?] in the 3rd), so all the Skins players came to me real late.

I picked up Portis in the late 2nd round (I believe the 14th pick), Santana came in the 6th and Cooley in the 8th or 9th. My league positions actually work out to QB, 2 x RB, 2 x WR, 1 x W/R, 1 x TE, 1 x K and 1 x DEF... Given that, I can always trade Roy Williams / Santana / TO plus one of my lower tier receivers (Galloway or Coles) for a round 2 RB if Portis goes down. And I still don't have an appreciable drop since I can play the the other two top receivers in the WR spots and then move around the W/R spot (julius or galloway/coles) based on the match-ups. I think my team is well-adapted to any injury/unexpected drop in production to any of my major players.

This is my first shot at FF, so let me know if there's anything that needs drastic changing...

QB: Ben Roethlisberger (Matt Hasselback)
WR: Marvin Harrison, Randy Moss, Deion Branch (Muhsin Muhammad)
RB: Shaun Alexander, Maurice Jones-Drew (Warrick Dunn)
WR/RB: Clinton Portis
TE: Chris Cooley (LJ Smith)
K: Neil Rackers (Shaun Suisham)
D: Philadelphia (Jacksonville)

It's a 10 man yahoo league.

This is the best team Ive ever drafted, I think.

QB McNabb
RB Gore
RB Jones-Drew
WR A. Johnson
WR S. Moss
WR Burress
Flex Portis
TE Cooley
K Rackers
D/ST Denver

Bench: Jacobs, Jordan, Betts, Galloway, Santonio Holmes, Hester

I love my starters and I have crazy depth...very, very happy with this one. Of course, injuries could still screw it up.

It's a 10 man yahoo league.Drop the back-up kicker and find yourself a sleeper or a back-up to a fragile RB. In a ten man league you can play musical kickers the whole year and get the same production pretty much, as well as D's really.

My new strategy for defenses: pick up whoever's playing Atlanta.
