-Ramsey took Friday's loss hard, blames himself. Believes he let the team down.
-Noble wants to play Friday but it is GW's call
-Bowen practiced and is good to go.
-Jacobs started jogging but could be out for 2-3more weeks.
-Portis practiced expects to get a couple of carries Friday
-Royal is still out with a shoulder injury but it is believed to be minor
And this direct quote
......Special teams coach Danny Smith shouted to his players running downfield during a drill, Dont get that gangsta lean on it!
no reports on whether Danny Smith was holding a 40 and showing off his new 9mm to the players though.

He did. It is called QB maturity and blaming one self when in fact it was his fault is a good sign. Ram's two interception alone were not enought o shoulder all the blame, but looking at them, i think he realized, it wasn't the actual interception that made them bad, but the bad decision to make the throw. Interceptions happen. Bad decision need avoided, especially for Ram, who has been plagued with suspect decision making.
Jacobs started jogging but could be out for 2-3more weeks
I can't say it enough. This is starting to botheer me and patience with Jacobs has to be wearing thin. How long can we jkeep him based on potential? He IS truly injury prone.

Can't agree more. I just hope he shakes it off and goes lights out this next week.

I realy think this injury will cost someone a roster spot. I foresee the Redskins having to keep 6 WRs now (Moss, Patten, Jacobs, Brown, Thrash, and Dyson/DMAC_ because of this uneasiness withn jacobs

If we have to cut rock to keep Dyson or DMAC b/c jacobs is injury prone, i'm going to be sick.

This was supposed to be jacobs breakout year. This is truly not the way to start it. I was one of the ones predicting a breakout year for him, but he has had little work in game situations before the season, and has little continuity with Ramsey so he has really opened the door for others to keep him in his same position deep on the bench, I am sure he knows his way around there. If anyone other than Moss and Patten takes this initiative to step up the 3rd WR position is out there to be had. I think if Jacobs misses allot of this season or is unimpressive this year is Redskins days will be numbered. And because I believe Ramsey will be let go and Betts will move on not because we want him too but to further his career from under Portis shadow that will truly remove any hand prints of the Spurrier coaching legacy at Washington.

I doubt it will cost him a spot this year...but next year all bets are off. And with brown picking it up Jacobs could be in trouble. However his cap number is also relatively cheap over the next few years, so that is in his favor (unlike say DMAC)

I know some people may think that this is hindsight but during the draft that year I yelled and threw my shoe at the TV when we did not take Boldin from Florida State over Jacobs.

Really? Even after he posted a 4.8 40 time?

Yes, Boldin would have been the wiser pick, but that's in the past now. I really think he will be good once completely healthy. It's not right for us to sit here and criticize a player for being hurt, although easy to do. I'm sure he doesn't enjoy being hurt. Regarding his situation, we need to stay positive because I still the kid can be a stud.

Yes Florida has great recievers on the college level. But they do not produce in the NFL. Boldin is a beast in college and in the pros, he was in the mold of Hines Ward the former QB turned reciever. And he had a man's body coming out of college were as Jacobs didn't.

I am not questioning the kids heart or work ethic. But sooner or later potential is not enough, I guess it is up to the individual person how long that is. Do 1st and 2nd round picks get 1 year, 2 years, 3 years? I am not bashing Jacobs perosnally.

No, that's why there is always a risk no matter who is drafted. No one player is a sure thing. Gibbs didn't draft him. Sure, Boldin would have been nice but that's hindsight. I know that Jacobs can be very good, just get him healthy.

Jacobs may end up on the IR for the year. That opens up a roster spot for one of the guys on the bubble.

Jacob's injury is very frustrating. However, I'm sure Gibbs will handle it fine. He can't change things immediately he wasn't initially responsible for. When Jacobs is healthy, he has all the physical tools to be very good. Good size, speed, and hands. I've never seen him drop a ball in a game. I really think we need to reserve judgement and trust in him, Gibbs, and our trainers to resolve this.

I hope he gets healthy, I have said on other Posts that he will be the X Factor on the offense for this year. I think working against #3 corners if he has good timing with Ramsey he would be an animal, I knew we would use more 3 wide reciever sets. I am just stating that here and now 8/ 24/2005 he has dug himself an extra ditch to climb out of, 2 games left in preseason no work with Ramsey in game situations, were all the others have shown what they can do. And no one in the NFL wants the title injury prone.

Love the guy, but once again, need to stay healthy or he just needs a lot of prayer. He gets those weird Coles kinda' injuries, and I take it, maybe he can learn some things from Darrell Green about his agility with that speed. You can't coach speed, but you can train a person to use their body a bit different. Darrell Green rarely missed a game and he knew HOW to sprint and use his agility with his speed. TJ seems prone too much from things associated with that I think, toes, ankles, knees, chest?

Your points are valid. If he shows little production this year and is injured here and there, there is a good chance he will be gone next year. But, it is too early to speculate on that. He has worked with Ram before unlike Patten and Moss prior to this year. Yes, we have a fairly new offensive system but some of their previous work together should prove beneficial.

I can agree on that, he and Ramsey should have some rhythm together, and I hope they get it together because Lavar on defense and Jacobs on offense are my key players to watch to contribute our success this year.

I thought Jacobs had a mild sprain in his toe and would be ready to go by the season opener, the article mentions up to 2 - 3 weeks.

While I agree with you on most of your points, I disagree that Jacobs is the X factor for us this year. To me the X factors are definately Dockery and Jansen.
We've got a real good LT in Samuels that is finally at 100% for the 1st time in 4 years. He's gonna have a shutdown type year. Rabach is a solid center and his play will be a big boost over that of Raymer's. Thomas has been our most consistent and best lineman since his arrival here. I see no reason for his play to falter. Now if Jansen comes back to pre-injury form we have a strong RT that provides a huge upgrade over Brown's play at that spot last year. The other guy Dock has tremendous upside. He's shown flashes of brilliance in the past couple seasons. But, his continuous mental lapses and shoddy technique have resulted in more drive killers than any d we've faced. If his play meets up w/ his potential he would instantly go from a liability to perhaps our most dominant lineman.
To me these 2 guys will will be the difference makers between us being a below avg. offense to being a very good offense.

No, you didnt miss anything. But the IR is a way to stash players for the year. They used to do it all the time. The guy "stepped in a hole". It helps you not have to make those tough decisions (like having to release either Rock, Dyson or DMAC). We may be able to keep all three of those guys if Jacobs goes on the IR.

Oh, ok I get your point.
Although, I think Jacobs is clearly our number 3 receiver and could even make a push by the end of this year to break into the 1 or 2 spot. This is just a slight bump in the road. As the season wears on Jacobs will be a big contributor to helping us make the playoffs. I just see him as being too valuable to just sit him for the entire year.

I guess I dont have the same warm fuzzy as a lot of folks do about Jacobs. I'm not sure he has more potential than either Dyson or DMAC and he is less proven than both.

One thing that Jacobs has proven is that he is not above playing on ST's. DMC cannot say the same thing. Just because SS used DMC and he garnered six TD's doesn't make him better than TJ.

As long as Jansen is healthy as he seems to be he is no X factor he is someone you can count on and besides that one injury he has been basicly injury free his whole career. I think we are going to run more 3 wide and shotgun than a year before. I think that the 3rd wide reciever no matter who it is is going to be an x factor. And for my defensive x factors let me split that from just Arrington to Arrignton/ Daniels.

Agreed. If these guys both have monster seasons, which I could forsee, this defense is going to be utterly dominant. I am very excited about this defense. With the playmakers we have, under Greg Williams genius, we could have something very special.

Jeez, let's ease up on Jacobs a little bit guys, why all this talk about getting rid of him when he's actually GETTING BETTER. Are we missing the fact that he's jogging is actually good news? And just because our offense has connected on a few deep plays this year and Antonio Brown is having a nice run doesn't mean we're in any position to just throw away young and talented offensive players.
The kid isn't too far off from being able to come back and play, what is the point of getting rid of him now?
