I wonder who among our own Cheerleaders can sing for us, it would be cool to have a Redskin talent sing at our games.

Anyone who thinks that Jessica Simpson cannot sing is nuts. She can outsing, outdance, and outclass Britney, or Christina..... The news that she is going to be singing on opening day just made me one of the happiest men alive..... The only downside ofcourse being that her husband is going to be there, lol.

to put this part of the argument to rest...the girl CANNOT dance. she can move like a stripper, but she can't dance. she's really not that impressive either. i got to play bodyguard for her after one of her concerts in Dallas before i moved up here and she's not as hot as she looks in all her pictures and TV appearances. she's also a bit of a pill.

here's how i see it.. jessica is just fine for what she is. she's a singer, a pop star, and she has a nice voice. she's not advertising to be anything else. she doesn't run around saying "i write amazing music" or "i am an incredible musician". she goes out, she sings, she plays house in her tv show, and the little girls (and many of you gentlemen) love her. for godssakes at least those little girls are preoccupied with her and not britney!

That's the part that isn't the case. Artists create art. Dancers that look like models who sing on occasion when they're not lip synching are not artists, IMO. For crying out loud, you don't need to be a musician to write the lyrics, but these people don't even do that!

She's not a bad singer at all. But that's about it. She, like her sister, Christina, Britney, Justin Timberlake, boy bands [any] and those American Idol idiots are more the product of effective marketing than of their "talents".
It's like this: Jessica Simpson is to MTV as Chicken is to KFC.
That's it. Now, if you're an artist of any type, you're likely to be offended by her stunning success/talent ratio. If you're a free thinker who doesn't like being manipulated like so much cattle, you will be insulted by how her and people like her get shoved down our throats at every turn.
I might take it a bit personally, but art and music were a large part of my family growing up. All of the kids in my family could play at least one instrument and we could all sing to one degree or another. My brothers and I played in bands -- half-heartedly as it may have been in my case -- and we wrote our own music. I have a brother who still writes music plays in a band and he's a lot better than what gets hand selected, manufactured and marketed to most of us. I have a sister who does Broadway shows who can sing and dance circles around any of those pop divas. While I don't do any of this myself anymore, I've seen how much work and effort it takes to have, develop, refine and nurture real musical talent. IMO, the Jessica Simpsons of the world are an insult to the true musical artists that are out there writing and playing music every day because something in their nature compells them to -- not because it's a great marketing gimmick.
So, if you want to see a true musical artist, go see a live band play somewhere in your town. Oh, and if being hot was the measure of an effective "artist", I'm sure that a few of "pole artists" down on M Street in DC and off of Route 40 in Baltimore who should be a helluva lot more famous than her.
JMO.

Burgandy, I totally agree. These artists are a product of marketing rather than talent. Now that's not to say that they don't have any talent however I don't feel that they would have become suceessful without the marketing. In addition is it just a coincidence that all of the ladies that you mentioned above are beautiful/sexy? I don't think so. That's that largest part of their marketing package. Music has become secondary. Not to sound shallow (man that's easy for me lol) but if each of these girls weighed another 50 pounds or so do you think that they would be as popular? Again I don't think so. Admittedly pop is not my kind of music, I'm into alternative rock/rock (White Stripes, the Killers, etc.) so I may a bit biased but as you said, just my opinion. By the way, five consecutive posts for you on the same thread, most impressive.
