Hopefully it will be done right... not some cheesy cable channel... but high quality football news... 24hrs a day!

The one thing I worry about this channel is that we'll get forced fed of a lot of the Cowboys, Steelers, 49ers, and Dolphin games. I'm sure they'll show other teams of course, but I bet it'll be 3-1 ratio of those teams compared to the rest.

NFL gearing up for fall launch of 24/7 network

The voluminous archives of NFL films, led by Steve Sabol, will be the backbone of the new NFL Network.

IN THE BEGINNING, there was just a father, a son, a projector, a reel of film and a puddle of cocktail sauce.

In 1962, a frustrated Philadelphia overcoat salesman by the name of Ed Sabol and his son Steve paid the NFL $3,000 to film the league's championship game between the Green Bay Packers and New York Giants. Held the premiere of the highlight film of the Packers' 16-7 victory at Toots Shor's restaurant in Manhattan.

NFL films have been pretty good but shows like the one on HBO rocked..I hope they do something like that.

I'm guilty of not reading the entire article...but did it say something about who will carry it?

Will it be a "DirectTV" service only? Or will our regular cable providers (Comcast, Cox..etc) also carry it?

Direct TV? Ghees. I may have to break down and switch over then. This coupled with the Sunday NFL ticket is too much pressure for a die hard like me.

Didnt it say that Cable should get some sort of contract as well before it all kicks off?

It might be on digital cable, for an extra fee of course.

Yes it did say something about cable contracts at the end of the announcement. Said something about being in place before the launch. I'm sure cable will consider it a premium channel and charge for it.
