View Full Version : Wednesday Morning QB Poll (Preseason)

OK folks, I'm going to try a little something this year. We all know that a QB controversy may be brewing as early as the Week 3 bye week, so I've decided to try and get out in front of it.
Throughout the season on Wednesday, I'm going to post a poll on the "approval rating" of the Redskins starting QB. Sort of like a presidential approval rating, I hope to follow the ups and downs of the QB position throughout the season.
Here's how it works: Every week you vote for either "Approve", "Disapprove" or "No opinion". This question is a general feeling question, so it's not necessarily a result of the pervious week's effort. I will then chart the results and post them as part of the next weeks poll.
Let's start with the preseason this week. Ready, set ... vote!

I won't have an opinion until I see how Ramsey looks when there are real bullets in the gun.

It's a poll based on the preseason to give us a baseline. Next week will be the result of him actually "firing bullets". BTW, I purposely am doing this on Wednesday to avoid any knee jerk reactions one way of the other.

I voted in the affirmative if only because the reg season has not started yet., Once it does I will then readjust my thinking.

At this point I expect a good season out of Patrick but I also would not be suprised if he faltered. Maybe I am overly optimistic, we will see and not soon enough!

Great idea BnG. Looking forward to seeing the fluctuation. Based on pre-season, i voted disapproval. Ramsey is the key to the season success, the talent is here, the talent on offense is better, Jansen is back, Rabach is here, Moss and Patten provide tremendous speed, but it all comes down to Patrick's decision, and from what I have seen, I am a bit nervous.

what about the same poll for every aspect of the team....
o-line
secondary
running backs
linebackers
quaterback
d-line
safties
that would very interesting at least for me to know what everyone thinks of what needs to be improved the most ...a coach from outside the stadium so to speak!

Gotta give Ramsey support. End of story. I will be there Sunday - if throws 2-3 ints - no boos. please.

Had I read your post before voting, I would have voted approved. Bottom line is I am looking forward to seeing the kid improve and hopefully win some games. I trust the coaches to pick the right guy to put in there so my default is almost always approval in week 1.
Now if we lose on Sunday.... Not only will I disapprove, but I'll need a bottle of something strong. I will be depressed if our season resembles '04.

One can only hope, but I wouldn't put too much faith in that crowd. Right or wrong, they have lost their entusiasm and patience for anything going wrong.

I really believe that Ramsey can lead this team. I'm just not sure if he believes that. I have supported Ramsey when all others were getting ready to burn him at the stake. He needs to show it fast and early this season, or he will be booed completely outta Fed-ex. I have faith in the kid. Now is his time shine, because all the pieces of the puzzle are in place.

Great Idea! I would want to see the fluctuation during the game as well! If we could only vote multiple times each day, that would be something!

The question is how do you feel about the play and I assumed that means in the preseason and I said disaprove because I think Ramsey can play much better than that. That doesn't mean I'm not a Ramsey supporter. I don't want to switch to Brunell.

I like this idea of a weekly poll. I have to go with no opinion this week, he struggled during the preseason, while Brunell looked great at times...but that was the preseason and he didn't have the benefit of Gibbs full playbook and the running threat of Portis.

I agree, I don't think that anyone is happy with Patrick's play. Not the coaching staff, not the fans.

I approve, the reason is because he has improved his play every week.

im with you. i think he can improve, especially once he learns his receivers and gets into a rhythm throughout the game.

i have no opinion as of now.. it's so i don't have high expectations or doom and gloom expectations.. i see improvement and a better offense around him so it's a blanket hope right now.

You don't boo Tom Brady....Peyton Manning....or D.McNabb etc. after 2-3 ints....but if a qb like Patrick Ramsey throws 2-3 int's you better bet he is going to get booed because he would deserve it.... He can only drink from sippy cups for so long....I mean dang dude....it is his 4th season!!!
That being said....I hope he does well and we win!

Another thing they have in common is being blamed for all the problems on the Skins and in the US. Ramsey will be good if he has support, if he doesn't have a running game to rely on it might get ugly.

Right now I dissaprove. I can handle Patrick being merely efficient but I cannot handle the turnovers. They are gifts that we cannot afford to give. After big completions Patrick has then thrown good field position away too many times for my liking this pre-season. Three points are better than none and an incompletion is better than a Int returned for a TD. I may be overstating things but that is simply the way Patrick makes me feel.

Too many TO's in the preseason.
Based on what I saw thus far, I dissaprove. But I'm confident things will change.

No, here we go again. Ramsey is gonna to be our QB for 16 games and beyond unless he really stunk it up.
If you are not satisfy with our current QB based on his preformance in preseason, dont worry he will get it as he's well known for being slow starter.
It doesn't matter what we think about our QB situation. It s best if we show support to our current QB. :banghead:

I just hope the "no opinion's" turn into "approval's" in the upcoming weeks. Not for the sake of Ramsey but for the sake of this season. I think a majority of the "disapprove's" will remain that way even if Ramsey plays well.

I really can't say yet. I will hold opinion until one or two games in then we'll all know more. I hate to say it but if i had to say right now it would be 50/50 .

i am somewhat concerned that he does seem to be a slow starter. he's a slow starter in his career, in each season, and in each game. he needs to start off good to back people off.
i think Brunell has actually looked alot better so far.

Ramsey is not any better this year... Preseason shows that. He is on a short leash - gonna get pulled -maybe after 2 games if he doesn't put up wins with numbers.

Yeah, I hope so. I voted "no opinion" because I would have said disapproved after the first 2 preseason games and approved for preseason 3 and no opinion on preseason 4 game. I do think that Pat is trying to throw different (more loft on deeper passes) than he had been doing all his career and that takes some time to before it feels natural to him. I also thought that he was told to throw deep a lot more than he would once the season begins. Finally, new receivers to get in sync with does take time.
So, while I have to say I am concerned right now, I hope he looks good against the Bears this sunday.

We have hedged out options... For our opponents, the change of QBs from the Redskins, from first to second string, for whatever reason, is going to feel like going from the frying pan directly to the fire....

I disapprove of his preseason play, but I'm willing to admit that he has all the tools to change my mind once the regular season begins.

Brunell will win more games for the team this season than Ramsey. That's the bottom line.
Mark has performed far better in every pre-season game, moved the offense effeciently and consistently and has not made costly mistakes causing turnovers.
Ramsey is inconsistent and makes mental mistakes. His fundamentals are flawed. I think he will never rise above the average level. This team is not good enough to have a QB that plays poorly - our opponents are too tough.
However, since Ramsey will be the starter, I will cheer for him no matter what.

Ramsey is starting to make me think he might be one of these guys that takes a long time to develop, and then comes on strong later, like Kramer or Delhome. he probably should have held a clipboard for several years, like Steve Young did with Montana running the show.
one "oh crap!" is worth 10 "attaboy's".

Ramsey will never have a OL that will give him the protection he is going to get this year. He either cranks it up this season, or he will be holding the clipboard at another team. He has been consistent with his inconsistency and has limited mobility. I wonder about his future here.
