Ok since were only a couple of days away and I haven't seen this poll done I thought it be interesting to see what many of us think will be the Skins upcoming record for this season.

My prediction (I've spent all offseason refusing to make one) is that we will go 7-9. I think we are improved overall as a team but I see a schedule that has the potential to cause us some problems. A lot of teams we play are right on our level and will be a even match for us. The last few seasons I've sided with trying to be optimistic so this season I'm going to be a little more pessimistic until I see us perform.

I think 9-7 is realistic and not completely out of the question.

I really think 10-6 (as I do every year ;)), but I voted 9-7 and I'll take it. I see us making the playoffs as a wild card.

Scotty Moyer

I voted 16-0 because our Redskins have the talent and hunger to win any game if they fight heard and don't give up. "Any given Sunday any team can win." I know 16-0 is unrealistic but the peaple who say and believe the Redskins will be worse than last year are much more unrealistic. :whoknows:

I voted 9-7, that would be a 3 game improvement over last season and should be acheivable with good QB play. I dont know if that gets us in the playoffs but it should keep us in the hunt.

10-6

We will be more games longer this year and I don't think we give up. Let other teams underestimate us.

Go Skins!

I also voted 9-7. I think that it is realistic to think we can win nine games.

9-7 is the safest pick on the poll, but that's my choice. I think we can really win 9 games this year. We were in every game last year, and we were a couple field goals and bad breaks away from winning 9 games.

I predict 9-7 or 10-6. I like what we have with our oline and defense. Gibbs will get the quarterback position and offense going this year. 1 year was enough for him and us.

9-7 but i wish i didnt vote that. i should of said 0-16, to try something new. every year i pick around 10-6 and 9-7, but i should of picked 0-16 to maybe reverse the curse

0-16!!!

I went with the average Gibbs year which is 10-6. You can say that this is not realistic all you want, but we all know in the current NFL this type of turnaround happens every year.

That would be interesting. We have earned it though.

Anyways I hope they keep the negative coming. All the "experts" are calling for a low scoring game this week, they are in for a suprise! Maybe the Bears will be low!

Next week will be very interesting as they discredit our Bears win and talk about how we have no chance against the Cowboys and how Parcells whups Gibbs every time!

Things can turn around fast these days in the NFL. Thats why I think 11-5 is attainable. I think you will see a slightly improved defense and a much improved offense. It has been long enough, its our time to whoop some tail. :Padawan:

GibbsFan

Call me crazy but I went with 13-3. I think if everything goes extremely well then this is the upper side of what this team is capable of. Since we have experienced a rather long and protracted period of bad stuff, the law of averages says we are due. Plus, Gibbs is determined and will prepare hard and long to get the edge.

Defensively, this could be the best team in the league if it can stay healthy and answer the bell at corner. IMO Sean Taylor will take a major step forward, and Lavar might just be out to prove something. Griffin has become a major force in this D, with Marcus Washington and Shawn Springs doing the same. However, we can't afford injuries at corner or on the interior. We really need to stay healthy at those positions to see excellent play.

On offense the parts are in place for a powerful and effective engine, If we can just get it cranked we can beat anybody. Once again, no injuries on the line will be imperative if they are to fill their potential. I have a feeling this line is coming together, which will allow the speed to shine with the wideouts. Portis will break out if we can just get the ball in their hands consistently.

The truth is we could finish anywhere depending on injuries, continued progression of certain players, and some minimal progression out of one certain player who's name needs no further mention. For him I got just one piece of advice.

Just Do It!

of our 10 losses last year, only 2 were by more than a TD. so i figure this year we'll cut the losses in half at least. 11-5 or 10-6.

9-7. Top 5 defense, extremley good running game with Portis/Betts; the million dollar question is how our QB will play.

8-8 if Ramsey is the QB
10-6 if Brunell is the QB

I picked 9-7 because I don't think Ramsey will make it through the season [not injury].

Until Ramsey shows he can be a consistently solid qb, I'll go with 9-7. We lost a number of games last year by no more than 2 points. A lot of them were lost because of stupid penalties taking us out of scoring position. If the penalty situation gets turned around, and Ramsey starts making good decisions with the ball, we could do at least 10-6.

I think Ramsey is still the better choice even though Brunell had some good games against 2nd and 3rd stringers. Really it all depends on the running game, if that gets going it will be alot easier to pass the ball.

We were extremely competetive last year only losing a couple of games by more than a TD, that tells me a couple of plays here and there and we are a playoff team. We have a better team this year so I don't see why we can't get this thing turned around fast.

11-5 Starting with a Blowout against the bears
Yes, yes, yes! We are going to blow out the Bears! Big plays on defense and the best offense since 1999!

I can already hear the "experts" saying that the Redskins aren't that great, but the Bears may be one of the worst teams in NFL history.

Thats what they said after we blew out the Lions 45-0 on Opening night 1991. They were wrong about the skins and the Lions (12-4 and NFC championship game).

RedskinRyan
09-11-2005, 02:24 PM
i said 9-7. a couple of changes on the offense will require some time for them to gain that chemistry. but i think we have enough veteran leadership(brunell, patten, jansen, brown, springs) to help with our younger players.

I think 9-7 is realistic and not completely out of the question.

This will be true. Unless these guys suddenly climb a ladder in play for in synce sustained drives and Betts can consistantly break a few more tackles in one on ones, it will tough going. Howeve, its still hard to gauge this team against the Chicago d.

I hope today was a wakeup call for evryone. Chicago is an awful team. They are simply awful, and we struggled to score. I would like to revise my pick from 7-9 to 6-10, because I don't think we'll win 2 games in the division this year. Sorry, but after a performance like that against arguably the worst team in the NFL, you have to think that we will not be able to do anything against a 1/2decent team.

I reall do want to beleive certain offensive players aren't conceding, "oh if we don't do it ,this series, the D will get it back".

No Way is that a JG philosophy and Green, Clark, Riggins, Grimm, and Monk would be stewing with a performance we have sometimes shown. Yet if the Bears defense winds up being in the top 5 of the NFL, then we would look back on that game as to the reason the struggle was so hard at times. Other than that, we still have some big hurdles to work on, and Antonio Brown needs to look over his shoulder. Betts really needs some more of something to get past the first tackler and bowl his ares over!

Their offense is terrible (although I expect Orton to get a little better) but their D is pretty good. We should have been able to do better, but that wasn't a bad defense we were up against.

Agree completely. Playing a very conservative run offense, with great defense will win some games, if we have an excellent ST program. However, the best part of the ST is Hall and his injury may take him out. Otherwise, our ST's are average at best.

I, personally, disagree here NC. I think that if we put the game into Ramsey's - or Brunell's - hands, we are not going to win. We don't have the QB to win a shootout. We have the defense, and the running game, to control the clock, and get victories. Even the most high powered offenses do not generate a ton of points against us. That was with a moderate running game last year. Our offensive line is much, much improved this year, I think that was noticable by the play throughout the game, particuarly as the second half progressed. With the change of pace between Portis and Betts, we also have durability and longevity at the position to keep pounding the ball.

Personally, I feel we can win more games this year keeping it close and controlling the clock, then we can if we attempt to open up the passing game, and rely on Ramsey or Brunell.

But thats just the way I see it.

If we had generated 20 points per game last season, we would have gone to the playoffs. That has not changed. We need a QB to get us to that level to be competitive in the NFL.

What did you see that would make you say this? Our offense was moving the ball. It may have not been a air show on the field, but we did what we needed to do to win the game. You must fail to realize that our defense won us 6 games last year, and they (defense) will at least get us the same thing if not more.

10-6 is a realistic record or 9-7 b/c all our offense has to do is put up 15-25 pts per game and we will be one of the best teams in the league. our d is alrady great and the coaching staff is wonderful. we have good players on offense, some superstars and pts is the only problem, put up more points, win more games, simple as that

I am sticking to my 11-5 prediction. I am hoping that I have under-estimated Chicago's defense while bashing our offense, and even still, we sustained some long drives and won the time of possession battle convincingly.
