Yeah its real sad...about a boy and his father in the Holocaust. Any movie on that subject has been done well to tell the truth.

BigCountry

Not Schindler's List. That has to be the worst movie I've ever seen. It's hard to take in but at the same time it blows... I understand that Seinfeld episode.

Yeah, I forgot about Life is Beautiful. Who could have imagined a comedy/drama about the Holocaust?

An obscure movie I'm wondering if anybody saw, The Navigator (not Flight of the Navigator) about some Middle Age peasants tunneling to the 20th Century?

it was good, but i do not like how it shows that the U.S. was the hero, when they ignored the holocaust.

We did not ignore the holocuast.....America for the most part had no clue if the stories were true...they were just rumors back then and we did not have the technology we have today to spy on every activity. I have never read anywhere about WWII history that America knew for a fact what was going on and chose to ingore it. Can you show me some proof of this? Thats a pretty harsh accusation your stating there.

U.S. was not in a position to ignore the Holocaust. We were in a period of strong support for isolationism (FDR had to let Japan attack us to get us into the war) and we were not in much of a position to do anything about it until our troops were in Europe. Admittedly, we turned away many who sought asylum, which is non to good.

If you really want to talk about ignoring the Holocaust, let's bring up the Vatican...

Wait, isn't this thread about movies? Am I the only one who though Cool Hand Luke deserves mention? "failure to communicate" "I can eat 50 eggs" "the man with no eyes" "shakin the bush, boss". C'mon.

Yeah, TexSkin I hesitated to put it on my list because I've only seen it once. My daughter was crazy about Roberto at the time (she's an artistic type ;) so I watched it. I was sooo upset when he died at the end, I thought they would make it, that I haven't been able to watch it again since.
But it was very, very good

#5 I have two because if they are on the television anytime, anyday and are found, I will watch and you will too- Clint Eastwood's "The Outlaw Josey Wales" and John Wayne's "The Cowboys"
#4 "True Romance" w/ possibly the best acted scene in American cinema between Christopher Walken, Dennis Hopper, James Gandolfini et al.
#3 "Saving Private Ryan" - The greatest crime in Hollywood history is this film not winning Best Picture, Best Director and Best Actor. What a joke, Shakespeare in Love!
#2 "The Godfather" This is 101 in American film making and it's the story of the American family, all American familia!
#1 "To Kill A Mockingbird"- I was so shocked my wife had not read or seen Harper Lee's story, I forced her to watch it. She is glad I did. It should be required of every American.

I think they just got tired of giving awards to Tom Hanks every year.

RE: #4 above. I know exactly which scene you are talking about and mention it to everyone to whom I recommend this movie. Hopper is incredible even when just lighting his cigarette.
