Well I'm sure that many of you had a great time at the Tailgate and I missed
all of you but now we are back and ready for the Cowboys. I have a couple of comments to share then I will let you guys get going.
Coming from a coaches perspective, if you give me the ball 3 times, I will beat you!!! So many of you that are upset with how we won. Just be glad we got those guys outa there and won the game. "I'll take it anyday".
Having said that many things came into play and I carefully thought out some things here you go:
Ramsey-Rushing home from church like I took a Nascar class, as soon as I turned on the TV, he threw a pick. I'm not happy with the fact that he got hurt. But if Ramsey generated nothing up to that point he got hurt, he may not have generated anything, we don't know. I just know that when Brunnell is in there, we score points. Yea it was 9 but it was good enough. Also Ramsey did not adjust this throws too well. Many of them were high, over thier heads and they took big hits as a result. Can't keep em happy that way. And these are people you were working with all off season?...Hmmm
Brunell-Many of you fail to realize that he really did not have a chance to work out with the starting offense, meaning that he has to adjust his throws a little lower due to the height of his recievers in a game setting.
Portis-It was good seeing him get 121 yards and good we got 160 rushing overall. That's Redskin football
Defense-Got the job done but, I wasn't too satisfied. Although they blitzed some, they never really got to the qb.
And the 12th man!!!!Ya'll were in the house.
In closing, just be glad we didn't have a veteran qb that knew what he was doing. It may not have been so great. But again 9-7, I'll take it anyday.
Out.....

Well, I'm glad we DID have a veteran QB. :D
Yes, Ramsey started off slow but he began making plays before he went down. That seam pass to Moss was a great touch pass which we haven't seen from him. He also got us out of our own endzone which Gibbs did mention in the post-game locker room interview. He even said Patrick said he was ready to go in the 2nd half but the trainers and he himself decided to stick with Brunell for a number of reasons. We should be very glad we have Brunell as a backup. A lot of folks think it was a blessing in disquise when Ramsey went down because they wanted Brunell to start the whole time. I feel that Ramsey shouldn't lose the starting job due to this injury.

I just went back and ran Ramsey's Int over many times. Horrible pass on a short route, even if the one of the receivers ran the wrong route. Decison making and locking in is still a big problem.
This new Tivo toy is pretty nice. Back to the film room :lol1:

Out.....
On your point about Ramsey - as you stated "we don't know" ...... BUT I will point out - He was calming down and beginning to generate yardage. ..... Yes Burnell drove us close enough for FGs but he also threw an interception which was called back thankfully. On the flip side, Ramsey threw a TD which was called back. Personally, I think Patrick was beginning to get into a grove.
OH WELL ....... But I to will take the win and not look back. The balls now in the coach's hands and what's DC without a QB discussion.

I'll add that Ramsey did make some nice passes and he should start against Dall-Ass but put him on a short leash. We can run on their 3-4 if we get good blocking at the POA

I really hope they put Ram back in. I was pissed(like most of us) when he threw that first pick but he really settled into a grove after that. He was moving the ball well, hitting recievers etc...I hope he starts v. Dallass. Brunell wasn't that impressive. the improved running game took the presure off him. all he had to do was not make a mistake. I guess he did his job as the vet back up.

I did hear that Patrick did some good things, but we need points.
Well Gibbs didn't say in the prerss conference that Pat wa the starter, remember he only promised that Pat would start the season. I heard a caller on 980 say, "I would have a huge issue with Gibbs as a man if he used this situation to start Brunell. He should have told Pat in the Preseason that if he doesn't play well, then he'll (Gibbs) be led to go with someone else".

Well if Pat would understand this concept we wouldn't be having so many issues with him (Pat)

Sure Ramsey threw the interception but if you noticed on the big play to Moss he pumped on one side and threw to the opposite side. If Ramsey continues to scan the field like that then he will improve. As others have mentioned he did start getting into a grove. So its simple to me. If he's healthy he starts. If he's not healthy, Brunell starts. All in all you are absolutely right, a W is a W and I'm grateful for that. Now let's improve so we can get some momentum going into the bye week.

Ramsey takes some chances makes some mistakes but he also will make big plays happen. Brunell doesn't help you and doesn't hurt you either, that will not win very many games, unless our running game proves to be unstoppable. At this point I still think Ramsey is the way or put Campbell in and let him learn the ropes.

The players have 2 days off I believe.

Good point Joe. Coach Gibbs should have never told Patrick that he was going to be the starter before last season ended. Unless your QB is Tom Brady or Peyton Manning it should always be an open competition. Very uncharacteristic mistake by Coach Gibbs.

I'm starting to think along those lines too. Maybe Gibbs just wanted to instill some confidence in the kid?

Yeah I think PRs confidence was a major issue last year, so he thought this would help.

If Ramsey is given a decent chance I think he will succeed, but he hasn't gotten that chance yet, I don't count any of the seasons under SS because they were a joke.

IMO Gibbs did this to raise the confidence level of Ramsey, although some feel Gibbs dislikes Ramsey he has given him every chance to step up and be the leader without looking over his shoulder. I don't label it a mistake, but a move to raise his confidence and take the next step.

Keep the faith with Ram he will grow with each game.Great to get the season off with a win and the Redskins can take encouragement from this start. Credit to Brunnell for the way he stepped in when Ram went down.

I can't believe I'm about to say this, but I totally agree with everything Moose said yesterday on TV about Patrick Ramsey. If our team is going to really succeed this year, it's going to have to be with Ram. Brunell can get us by on the short-term, should Ram get hurt or something, but if we are going to be in the playoffs, and make Joey T's pick look for real, then it's going to be on the arm of Patrick Ramsey.
He was getting into a groove yesterday, and I think if he plays against the Girls, he's going to put up a good game. I'm looking forward to Monday.

What, you weren't clammoring for Jason Campbell to come in when Ramsey got hurt?
