Very disturbing facts of the state of healthcare and the fleecing we are all under from the GOP special interests.

Couple this with those huge increases by Bush's gas buddy's, I'd say we are worse off even with his tax cuts than before he took office.

I read the article but I'm curious what it is you think bush could do differently that would keep health care costs down. How exactly do you think we are getting screwed by special interests?

The fact that they are against the multitude of reforms that have been suggested. For example the prescription drug benefit that W passed, which expressly forbids the us government (the biggest buyer in the nation) from negotiating fair drug prices with the drug industry.

Rising health care costs are an epidemic throughout the U.S. Bush hasn't addressed it effectively as this issue is very difficult to resolve. I am thankful to be able to afford it, however I sincerely feel for the low-income Americans who have difficulty with this. Doesn't look like it's going to get a lot better anytime soon.

No action to solve the health care crisis, minus blaming every devil-worshipping lawyer and true victim of negligence, has been propossed by the GOP.

Why does the GOP leadership and George Bush continue to rip off the american people in order to cave in to the big drug company's. It really is shocking.

Ken Johnson, a senior vice president with the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America, said there is no reason to believe that granting the government bargaining power under the Medicare law would lower drug costs.

"The system was set up so that robust competition among private insurance companies would drive prices down," Johnson said. "More competition equals lower prices. It is simple economics."

More competition? Bush already wiped out your Canadian competition.

Johnson would be right if there was no kind of price fixing/gouging going on. It's like when a car dealership says "great news! No haggling!"

The President and the Congress need the same healthcare plan that we have.
If that were the case,we wouldn't need term limits.

When you're the only one with the patent for 7 years or whatever, there's not exactly a whole lot of competition. Monopolies are bad for competition. "It's simple economics."
