I don't have a link because it was on 980, but apparently Noble had the knee cleaned out again and there is no timetable for his return.

Is it time we part ways and look to pick up someone out on the street?

Yes. I say we let him go. What are we paying him for? To rehab?

I like the guy, but I also think the rule should be that we NEVER sign players or coaches from the Dallass Cowboys

That stinks, I was really hoping he would be able to play and help our DL this year. Any word on when or if he'll be back???

Can anyone think of any other DTs currently available in FA that we could afford?

He said in an interview a couple of days ago that he was probably going to get it scoped and that it was good timing because we had the bye coming up and he should be ready to go the week after. I think we'll only lose him for the Dallas game.

Every NFL team should have the vaguely unstable white guy, but we could always drug Bowen or Cooley to fill that role...

I wish he was healthy.
Is anyone going to be activated to replace him?

Redskins.com says 4-6 weeks. Here's the link: http://www.redskins.com/news/newsDetail.jsp?id=10316
I say we release him. He hasn't made an impact anywhere other than the surgeon's table since he's been here.

What Noble does is occupy blockers and help stuff the run. He's a big body in the middle that swallows up the guard and center and let's everyone else take the glory. We need guys like him on the roster, but if he's always hurt, then you might have to let him go.

Let's see how/if he comes back from this operation.

Keep him for now. Knows the system well, great run/gap-stopper, let's see if the knee improves a bunch from the scope. If not, gotta let him go, unfortunately.

He is good when he is in there. It does seem like whenever we sign a former Cowgirl or Cowgirl coach they don't work out. So maybe we should quit signing those girls.

Aside from the salary cap implications of cutting him loose at this point?

No. At this point I don't think there are any options out there that are better than Noble. Plus, the D line rotation against Chicago didn't seem to fair to badly.

980 just reported it could be 4-6 weeks for Noble. I don't think I would wait, but that is me.

They really did nothing until the fourth quarter, but I agree there is nobody out there that will do much better.

Noble was a great comeback story which may be fading. I wonder if he will make it through this season and I see some changes coming to the DL this off season:

Wynn - old
Noble - can't get completely healthy
We need a pass rusher with some speed and moves.

This could actually be a blessing in disguise for the skins. It will allow us to rotate in Boschetti and Killings and allow us to evaluate them in live action.

Personally I'm hoping Boschetti does well, he has good size (6'3'', over 300lbs). The question is does he have the strength and quickness to be an effective defensive lineman in the NFL? With Noble's injury it will give the coaches a chance to see if Boschetti does have what it takes.

Wynn may be getting up there in age, but he remains one of the best run stuffers in the game. The pass rushing end is the "sexy" d-lineman who always gets the praise, but I LOVE the way our d-linemen go about doing the grunt work to make this D so successful. The unheralded way they go about their jobs is amazing, and I'm confident we can get edge pressure with LaVar or Smith in passing downs.

980 just announced the Redskins have placed Noble on the IR.

-- Edit -- I can't figure out how to edit the title of the thread to include IR on it?

We don't need another DLer. I really think this is why we kept Cedric Killings AND Ryan Boschetti. My bet is Noble gets an IR stamp put on him soon and we sign another WR out there or Parsons of the PS.

I love Noble but he has to be done at tis point. Talent is great but not when it can never play.

I think that Noble is done but he brings a great team attitude and work ethic so I say we keep him until the end of the year and offer him a chance to retire or be relaeased and then we look to the draft or FA to bring in another plugger.

Or we sign big Norman Hand to eat up half of the line.

Supposedly Noble IS on the IR and Aki Jones is taking his spot.... again according to 980.

Man that sucks so bad for Noble. I am kind of excited about developing Aki Jones though, he looked solid in preseason. But I feel for big Noble. It looks like the end of the line for him...

Best of luck to Brandon, but who didn't see this coming? Hopefully, he can take the time to heal and to be here in 2006 ready to roll.

The knees keep busting out from all the pressure. Do you guys remember last year when whenever, or say, the majority of the time that Clinton got hit his legs when off the ground and he kept his good knees? I then did not like it, but now I keep thinking, maybe there is something to that, you know, to keep healthy.

Aki Jones is going to work really hard. I had heard that he was sleeping on the sidewalk at Redskins camp as to make sure he didnt miss it. he really wants to be here!

Just found out that Aki Jones spent a post-graduate year (5th year) at my high school before going to Fordham. I'm a few years older so I never knew him, but I'm impressed. I went to a small boarding school with a proud football tradition but not really a track record for putting guys in the NFL. We know have at least two players on active rosters - the other being Randal Williams, former 'boy and current reserve TE/WR/teamer for the Raiders.

Unfortunate for Noble, but a real break for Jones.

This is just as well, I had my doubts that Noble would contribute much anyway.
I am a little optimistic about Aki Jones, he looked very good in pre-season, albeit, against 2nd stringers.

The story goes that one day this spring the undrafted defensive lineman showed up at Redskins Park in Ashburn, Va., certainly culture shock for a young athlete from Queens.

Problem was, when Jones arrived, the facility was shut down for the night. He simply put his bags on a parking lot stoop and decided to sleep until the next morning. That's how bad Aki Jones wanted to make sure he did not miss his first official day as a Redskins candidate.

Dave Pauken, the Redskins' chief operating officer, remembers leaving the building late that June night, around 10:30 p.m. He stumbled on to a player sleeping in the parking lot.

Aki Jones
"So I asked him who he was and what he was doing," recalls Pauken. "He said he wanted to be Redskin so bad that he was willing to sleep in the parking lot in order not to miss his first interview."

Pauken helped Jones get situated in a nearby hotel and gave him a ride to the office the next morning, in time for his first encounter with head coach Joe Gibbs.

"I just couldn't believe how much this guy wanted to make our team," said Pauken. "I told him, 'With an attitude like you have, I'm challenging you to make our team. With your attitude, you might make the Hall of Fame.'"

One man's loss creates opportunity for another. I am also excited about Jones. Haven't really heard too much about him, but you can find some raw unknown talent along the dline alot of time. I am so ready for a killer defensive end. This defense would really be a monster then. I've been very pleased with our run defense so far though.
