Let's discuss the game here. I for one am not happy sitting here watching this game knowing it's supposed to be a Saints home game but seeing all that Blue. The NFL screwed the pooch on this one.

You are on my fantasy team. You need to go for 200 yards and like 3 TDs so I can win this week.

At first I didn't really give this any thought but now that I started watching this game it's nothing short of sickenning, appauling, disgusting, you name it. The NFL should be utturly ashamed of themselves for doing this and owe an appology to the Saints and the people of New Orleans. Instead of being money grubbing pigs they should have put the game in batton rougue and maybe provided busses for SAINTS FANS to come see the game. These people's lives were destroyed and the NFL takes away something that could have been really good for them. This is truely one of the most dispisable things I've ever seen and tonight I'm a Saints fan just as much as I'm a Redskins fan.

This "home" game in NY has to be one of the dumbest ideas I've ever heard. It's unfair for the Saints, as well as every team in the NFC who only gets 8 home games compared to NY's 9.

Nice to see the GiAints won their extra home game. That was very nice of the NFL to hand them that one. You have a team that has moved because their city is ruined and they have to travel to a hostile stadium to play a game. This one could have been played in many many places and instead they chose the absolute least fair place for the Saints. Hell, we could have hosted it here Sunday and there at least would have been plenty of people cheering the Saints.

Why not Canton? I think that'a great neutral site. Of perhaps in Aloha Stadium. Don't the Saints and theor family deserve a little break on the NFL's dime? The Gints would have to pay their own way of course, since it would be a Saints home game. ;)

They could have had it at any vacant stadium in the country, they simply picked the only one that gave a distinct disadvantage to the "home" team. The fact that the telethon took place in New York has nothing to do with why the game was played at Giants Stadium, it was all about selling as many tickets as possible for the NFL and it was a joke.

Solution: move the Oct 2 Giants home game against St Louis to St Louis and move the Saints' Oct 23 away game at St Louis to San Antonio or Baton Rouge. That eliminates a Giants home game, gives the Saints another home game, and the Rams still play the same amount of games at home and away.

Yeah, but Dave is right. You'd be hard pressed to find more die hard football fans with disposable income who just so happened to HATE the Gints to the point of being willing to root for the Saints. Plus, the Redskins played Monday night, and we know that more than a few Saints jerseys would've been sold to the folks who went to the game.
But, then again, the NFL wouldn't have had the chace to raise money via a telephon in front of a national audience if the game was on a Sunday.

How do I know that they could have had the game at any other vacant stadium in the country? Because Giants stadium was vacant yesterday just like any other neutral site. What in the world forced the NFL to schedule the game in NY over any other city? You posted some babble about all the hotel rooms being full with refugees? Are you kidding?
And the telethon in no way required the game to be played in NY. It was a nice PR touch, but it was woefully unfair to the Saints. You can have a game in San Antonio and a telethon in NY at the same time, you realize that right?

Jim Haslett and the Saints sure aren't happy about it. They don't blame the loss on playing at Giants Stadium but they make a good point about having a competitive disadvantage.
http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=ap-saints-angryhaslett&prov=ap&type=lgns
``It wasn't a home game,'' he said. ``I look up at the scoreboard and there are signs, 'Let's Go Giants'. The referees, when they flipped the coin, they asked us if we wanted heads or tails. They had no idea who the home team was and who was away. The crowd noise we had to deal with, we never had to do a silent count at home.''

Joe, you have no point. You never have. First it's not the Giants fault that the game was at their stadium (nobody ever said it was). Then the game was not an unfair advantage for the Saints. Then Redskins fans never would have sold out the game if we were playing the Saints. Then Giants fans all had to attend weddings and bar mitzvahs to prevent them from attending. Then some guy on USA Today says that it wasn't the Giants fault (wow, still nobody said it was). Now saying that it's unfair to the Saints and Redskins proves your point.

The Skins and Saints could play at any neutral site in the NFL. It would be unfair no matter who the Saints are playing.
How was there not enough time to change it? The game wasn't scheduled for Giants Stadium in the first place, what makes putting the game there different from putting at any other stadium in the NFL??
It's so funny how you bash members of this board for being homers and you're so obviously the biggest Giants homer alive. I bet the only reason you wanted Ramsey to stay in as starter is so he could throw three more INTs to you guys in the next game!

yes I do ...I also remember that ,
1) San Antonio was avaiable but the NFL said that at that time were not equipped to handle an NFL game ,concesions ,tickets media (not at that time ,not that they could'nt )

And if they wanted to put it in a stadium that was "NFL" ready, there are 31 other stadiums that could have been used. The simple fact is that the Giants got an extra home game, and there is no way anyone can say otherwise. The crowd monday night was really pro-Giants, despite the Saints fans getting extra time to buy tickets(which is the stupidest justification I've ever heard).

And that is my point ,and no matter who they would have play would have had an advantage ...so what's the problem ?
Are you really this dense? The problem is that the only stadium in which the Saints would have been the AWAY team for a HOME game was at Giants stadium. And stop trying to say that the NFL could not have had the game at any one of the other THIRTY stadiums that are already NFL ready, half of which didn't even have a game that weekend. Hotels were not fully booked in every single city besides New York for God's sake.
It would have been less fair to the Saints in any other stadium but BY FAR the LEAST FAIR place was to play the game on the HOME FIELD of their opponent. Good Lord take off the blinders.
If the Saints played their game at Fed Ex last weekend then they are not doing a freaking silent count on every play! In fact, I'd even bet that the crowd in any other stadium would be remarkably PRO SAINTS. The only reason the NFL hosted the game in New York was to get as high a turnout as possible. Bottom line.
Nobody pointed the finger at your beloved Giants so I really don't understand how you're continuing to cling to the ridiculous assertion that last Monday's game was a perfectly fair environment for the Saints to play a "home" game. That simply makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.

We're saying it's the NFL's fault that the Saints had to play a home game against a team on their home turf. I'm sure Snyder would have let them use Fedex and probably would have let them paint both endzones for the Saints. Heck, he might even have sent RedskinsOne to New Orleans several times to pick up fans. The NFL had other options that were better.

It is unbelievable that anyone would argue this was fair, unless they were the biggest NY homer there is. I think the Giants would have won this game, even if they played it on the Moon but to put what is supposed to be one team's home game in the stadium of the opponent is completely, unarguably unfair, end of story.

Nobody is blaming the hurricane on the nfl or anyone else as you're indicating.
1) This was approved by the owners .
2) There was nothing stopping him from sending the plane anyway,so why didn't he ?
3) I didn't start the thread ,there were 13 replies before I even got into it .
4) FOR the Last time ,I grew up in NY my family is still there I talk to them and always get the Giants this or that ,I've lived here for 23years maybe I hate them as much as you hate Dallas .
5)I played football at a high level and to that point I look at the game as a whole ,we won yup but for 55min we lost and that worries me becuase it was against 2 team that aren't very good .

Well, technically 15 other stadiums could've been used as 15 were already hosting other NFL games, the Meadowlands was the Gints home stadium and the Superdome was not an option, but your point is well taken. Personally, I would've thrown in Canton and Aloha Stadium as options. Maybe, we could've turned the negative into a positive and even had an NFL game up in Canada before it got too cold. Any of these are viable options. Having it in New York was little more than a dog and pony sideshow debacle.
Another thing that Joe T has to stop doing is saying "It was a natural disaster" and "It wasn't the Gints fault." Nobody is blaming the Gints for the hurricane; that would be ludicrous. However, people ARE blaming the NFL for giving the Gints an extra home game. It wasn't fair to the Saints to have to go into hostile territory under the guise of a "home game". It wasn't fair for the rest of the league -- especially the NFC East -- that the Gints be granted a 9th home game. The only folks who benefitted from this are the Gints and possibly the Saints opponent teams in the NFC South. I don't see how Joe T can pragmatically see what the NFL did as fair, especially considering they had SO many other options.

You know its sad when Fatsquerilli actually says the NFL messed up with this game. Even he gets the fact that this situation could have been handled way better by the NFL.
Did you not hear the Saints complaining about the game being in NY?

I wouldn't be so quick to absolve the Gints for the hurricane. There is an awful lot of hot air that get blown out of NY. :D
Seriously though, if I were the ownership of the Gints, there is no way that I would morally be able to accept an additional home game against a team whose city has become the flood equivalent of Pompeii. No way. Frankly, I am very disappointed in the Gints ownership and am rather surprised to not hear anybody chastise them for accepting the 9th home game.

I'm not saying it was fair ,I'm saying no matter what or where it was played it would'nt have been fair to the Saints and the Saints wouldn't have been happy. As I pointed out before if it was the Skins or Eagels or Dallas it would'nt have been fair .

I can agree on this. However, I think there is a big difference between playing at a neutral site and being unfair to one team ...
1) Saints (9th away game added)
... and playing in NY and dispensing uneven amounts of fairness to the whole NFC ...
1) Saints (as before, only now you add in the hostile "home" crowd)
2) Gints (9th home game added)
3) NFC East (division rival gets a 9th home game)
4) NFC South (division rival gets 9th road game)
5) NFC (9th home game for Gints give them unfair advantage in playoff hunt)

Like I said before ,the league made a desision they though was right for everyone maybe if they had more time to decide on things it would have been different, reminds me of the Brett Farve commercial were he's walking along the street and second guessing eveything eveyone is doing after the've done it .

Yeah, so does Gibbs' decision to bench Ramsey, I seem to remember a lot of people bashing that even before they had a chance to second guess it.

You should know right from wrong and fair from unfair almost instinctively. I didn't need more than a couple of seconds to realize that the league's decision was a bad idea and a couple of more seconds to be able to ascertain out why. I clearly stated how and why is was unfair and to whom. It was wrong, you know it and you're just being a hard head. Otherwise, you really must be a closet Gints fan or Saints hater. I can't think of any other explanation for your obstinance.

And? As soon as this was announced, ESPN pundits were calling it unfair. It is unfair and takes little brainpower to realize that it was unfair. Yes, technically it was a home game for the Saints, but only a Giants homer or someone who is functionally retarded would think that the Saints would have any real home field advantage. Why you keep fighting for this is beyond comprehension.

I would think that at least one person in the group at the NFL offices that made that decision must've known it was an inherently bad idea, but at least we can agree it was a mistake.
IMO, the NFL should take some responsibility for it. Earlier in the thread, someone suggested making the Gints play the St. Louis game on the road and letting the Saints get an additional home game against St. Louis. That would balance everything out at 8 games a piece. Why has there been no mention of such an idea?

Like I said before and you guys agreed if it wasn;t the Giants fault then why make the Giants do it ?My point is you can't have it both ways you can't make the Giants pay for something the league did . Why not just throw out all home games for all teams in the playoff break down ?

Point ,Giant fans have already paid money for that game .The fans at the game the other night most likely were'nt season ticket holders .Pretty sure Redskin ticket holders paid their tickets months in advance also .

That's a nice little bundle of hyperbole. The fact is that the NFL screwed up. I do see your point that the season ticket holders for your Gints have already paid for that game. However, IMO, it would be worse to do nothing and leave things the way they are. The league should reimburse all of the Gint ticket holders for that St. Louis game and make it a road game for your Gints. If the season tciket holders don't like only going to 7 games, then perhaps they should've bought tickets to the Saints road game. In fact, I think many of them did.

Again, horrible job of deflecting. You think Gibbs handled the QB change wrong but the NFL did a great job of handling the Saints game. I can't tell who you're a bigger apologist for, the NY Giants of Paul Tagliabue. Who cares who was player of the week? That has nothing to do with what I said. You said the second guessing in this instance was stupid because it couldn't change anything, but last week you were second guessing Gibbs like a madman. Hypocrite warning...
And who cares who started the thread? Again, pointless (big shock). Tons of threads get started on other games on this site, get over yourself and make a legitimate point instead of looking foolish grasping at straws.
