Offense B- One great quarter...the rest made me long for Marty ball
Defense A- would have been A+ if not for the flea flicker.
Special Teams C Long KO return in a crucial moment. We miss Hall on the kickoffs big time
Coaching A
Defensive coaching was great and hell it was a win over the Cowboys, I can't fault them.

Offense - C - You still have to play more than one quarter, but if you only show up for one, make it the 4th.
Defense - A - Even great defenses give up 1 touchdown on a trick play every now and then. You saw the plus and minus of Sean Taylor tonight...bites big on play fakes, hits big all the time.
Special Teams - C - Almost gave away the game in quarter 4. Please reference the A on defense as to why we won this game.
Coaching - D - Greg Wiliiams aside of course. The defense was spectacular, the playcalling still sucked. Two nice bombs, but you have got to be less predictable on offense. Everybody (especially Portis) looks frustrated. I am still longing for the day when Musgrave calls plays.
Bottom line - WE BEAT DALLAS!!!!!!!!!

Seeing elation from our owner (Who deserves this win too) - A++++
Seeing elation from Joe Gibbs - A
Seeing Bill Parcells nearly blow a casket in post game - tee hee (77-0 my a##)
IMMMM SOOO HAPPY
Seriously
Offense - C+ (Past skins teams would have quit, have to cut down on penalties, knocked us out of FG range early on, and killed momentum on every play, and really anemic till 6 minutes till final.)
Defense- A- (Taylor can't keep getting burned by over aggressiveness...but he hit the crap out of that reciever, forgiven baby)
Special Teams - (D-) Well they didnt' turn the ball over, but they tried to cost us points again, thank god for the sideline.

OFFENSE: C- Brunnel was maddening for 55 minutes, the O-line porous, and Portis a non-factor
DEFENSE: A- They practiced that trick play 3 times during the week and ST gets suckered by Parcells again. Do not bite on the run when it is 3rd and 20, kid.
SPECIAL: C (B for the kicker with the game-saving tackle)
COACH: B- Too conservative for much of the game. Game control penalties still a problem. Turnovers, too.
OFFENSE MVP: WR Santana Moss A 30+ yard per catch average?!? Yeah, bad trade to jettison Coles.
DEFENSE MVP: Marcus Washington Can a brother get a witness? Yes, he can. MW is the M.A.N. "man"! He was everywhere and played Teams like a madman.
SPECIAL MVP: K Novak - Here's a game-saving thank you, Kicker-man!
WEAKEST: QB Brunell. Turnovers, holding the ball too long, taking unnecessary sacks, a couple of long bombs for scores. No, this isn't Ramsey, it's Brunell. I will not live to see 40 at this rate.
Skinz4lyfe

Offense (C-) - Still too conservative for my liking but went deep when we had too. Brunell still threw at peoples feet and that INT was bad. However, he came threw in the clutch w/some HUGE plays. He moved around well in the pocket and made sound decisions. Portis wasn't much of a factor though.
Defense (B) - Played a solid game but not spectacular. Couldn't blitz too much because they were afraid of getting beat of the blitz. I agree w/the decision to blitz less. They saved the game for us once again.
Special Teams (B-) - Groom did pretty well and Novak had some decent distance on his kickoffs. However, we almost gave the game away on the kickoff return in the 4th.
Coaching (C) - We won the game but Gibbs needs to open up the playbook a little more on offense. That way we won't all have a near heartattack in trying to win the game. Moss made the deep passes look so easy. GW called another stellar game as well. God I hope we can retain him next year.

09-20-2005, 01:39 AM
Offense: B-. Same lame old thing as last year until things turned desperate at the end (final 5 minutes of the game), but 24 points scored thru 8 quarters of play won't cut it in this league, folks.
Defense: A+. A one point lead is enough for this squad to seal the win.
Special teams: C-. Uninspired and not doing much of anything to help the O or the D. Overall a disappointment.
Coaching: D-. Only the desperation of the closing minutes seemed to be enough to motivate the staff to open things up and roll the proverbial dice. They're far too cautious, too conservative, wholly unimaginative and almost completely lacking in offensive creativity. But for the win they'd get an overwhelming F.

O- C. O-line-D Running game D Passing game B.

Off : C which means E during 55 minutes, A during the last 5.
Def : B except for the flea flicker and the lack of pressure on Bledsoe (which seemed to be a deliberate coaching option), they were as usual great to see and tough as I love it.
ST : C nothing great, nothing awful, just average
Coaching : A+ an A for a nice called game IMHO, not flashy yeah, but efficient in the long run, in a gutsy game. a "+" because this coaching team knows how to keep its players focused and in a "never let it down, whatever happens" approach.

Offense = 1st 3 quarters an F, last 5 minutes an A+
Defense A - they played with hard and with energy the whole game, but surprised that we weren't able to get to Drew.
Special Teams C- Didn't really play like they normally do.
Coaching 1st 3 quarters an D- last 5 minutes an A+ (Why do we have to wait until we're down to open up the playbook?)

What the heck. I had no interest in doing this last night (too emotional), but right now I am just so happy... What a game.
Offense C With a couple tweaks here and there, the offense will be fine, and I thought that when we were being shutout. We just have to learn to win.... learn to overcome the years of losing and heartbreak.
Defense B- I might be in the minority here, but after two games I am worried abotu the D. they are getting less pressure than ever, and for most of the game Peyton outcoached GW. That said, they made the plays when they had to and we got the job done.
Special Teams B+ I was happy with Grooms punting, but that kick return at the end of the game had my heart in my chest. Novak nailed the two extra points and while his kickoffs were short, we covered most of them well.
Coaching A- I'm just so happy for Gibbs. You have media, fans, and other people being so down on him and telling him to go back to NASCAR... Just like Roy Williams said, Gibbs is no better of a coach today than he was yesterday, but the team is starting to come together. As much as I worried about the change.... Ramsey does not win that game (IMO).

Offense: D+ (only reason for the plus is because the o-line FINALLY block something on 2 plays) ........... TERRIBLE!!!!!
Defense: B ..... did their job, held the RB to <100 yards BUT did get tricked on the TD play.
Special Teams: C++ ..... one run back ruined a B+ night. WTG Nic The Kick
Coaching: C ...... terrible play calling.
All I can add ............... LUCKY

I have to agree, Ramsey would have forced things and we'd have lost by 3 TD's.
Offense - This unit has all the necessary tools to be great. The backs and TE's/H-B have got to learn to block better, the pressure was almost too much most of the game. But when it counted they got it done. C+
Defense - Great coverage for most of the game, but we are just not getting any pressure with the front four. B+
Special Teams - Coverage teams are still an issue, and I'm still waiting for something special with the return teams. C
Coaching - Both sides of the ball looked a little vanilla for most of the game, but when it mattered the most we got it going. Just on heart and character that the team showed when things looked bleak I'll give them an A+

Offense C- 71 seconds does not wipe out 115 minutes of futility
Defense A- wierd no blitz Bledsoe, but Dallas game plan was more effective limiting him than we were. Turnovers continue in short supply, and winning a game where the other team has the turnover edge can not be expected to continue.
Special Teams D Novak short on KOs, Groom short on punts. Coverage needs improvement, and I saw starters (Marcus Washington for instance) on these units, meaning many on the 47 man active squad had nothing to do.
Coaching C+ Mostly because of Gibbs steadfastness and Williams genius. Offensively challenged is the norm, and 2 wins by a combined 3 points is like the Deer Hunter - pretty soon the chamber has a bullet.

Offense/ C+ (why so high? - Once Brunell adjusted to the speed of the opposition, had tad more time to throw and Moss was once again open, they executed perfectly both times). This also meant the O Line earned their paycheck. However Ladell Betts is showing more of a downside in tough short yardage. Sure he's popped through on some runs, but he's also setting up far more 3d downs than he will ever convert. Not good.
Defense / B+ Held the boys to only 10 points in their own right. 3 was a result of a turnover by Brunell. Even that was a great move to keep them out of the endzone early.
ST / F+ For one, the setup was awful on PR's and the last minute DUH at the very end of the game, after that comeback was inexcusible. Maybe we need better depth players who CAN play ST's not just flash it at TC.

Offense: D There is no way a team should have almost the same number of yards on their last two drives as their first 10 drives combined. Through 3 2/3 quarters we had 10 possessions which resulted in 2 turnovers and 8 punts. Terrible.
Defense: B- They looked good, especially since we ended a game for once, I really feared a comeback from Dallas at the end. The only critique is the pass rush. I remember during the 4th quarter they said we only got pressure ONCE on the QB the entire game.
ST: C+ Great job I thought by our rookie kickers. They didn't make any mistakes in a game where one mistake would have cost us the game.
Coaching: C Conservative on both sides of the ball. I expected more blitzes from our D and a commitment to the run from our O. The saving grace is the composure in the 4th quarter.

We miss Hall on the kickoffs big time
Actually, I don't remember the last time Hall kicked off past the 10 yard line. I want to see Novak make a few kicks before I fully trust him but I hope they hang on to him in place of the injury prone Hall.

Offense- C- Brunell looked terrible other than 2 throws.
Defense- B- A little conservative. Im really concerned about the D-line.
SP teams-D- We should have lost cause of the long return the had.
Coaching-C- 2 long bombs saved them from a grade F.
Im thankful we beat Dallas, but 2 long bombs to win a game won't happen often in this league. Offense really needs better play calling. Defensive line seems old and slow. We need to upgrade big time.

09-20-2005, 01:43 PM
Offense: C
For 3-1/2 quarters, these guys were grading a straight up F. But, the end result gives them a C. We still have problems that need to be addressed here and, if the first two weeks are any indication, I don't think that Jack Burns is especially better than Joe Gibbs at calling plays. Note to the seniors: Play calling is not like "investing" in a money market account.
Defense: A
What can you say about the defense that hasn't already been said? They are simply astounding. If not for Sean Taylor's free lancing, they would've pitched a shutout on TDs allowed. Fortunately, Taylor made up for his overagressiveness earlier with a huge hit late that jarred the ball loose on a sure first down catch.
Special Teams: D
We don't get returns but seem to give up one of 30 yards or more yet again. I'm, still waiting to see why Danny Smith is so revered by Gibbs & Co.
Coaching: B
This is a complete homer grade, but anytime you beat Dallass in Dallass, you've got to weight the grade higher. I think that GW could've blitzed more and I hate some of those soft zone coverages he employs. Ultimately, they worked, so you've got to give him and his staff props. The offense was yet again anemic until it was cornered, when it erupted into 2 late TDs. Those were great play calls, which begs the question "Where were they for the other 7-1/2 quarters this season?". Special teams were nothing special.

This team could easily be 0-2, has no imagination on offence and is easy to defend.... will not do well against teams that can score over 20 points a game. I hope this does not swell their heads. They are offensively challenged to the max.. For 55 minutes they could not get into field goal range in a key game. Not a good day for cowpuke fans. Perhaps bye-week will allow Brunell to work w/Patten. I would not be surprized to see Campbell play some downs this year, if Ram and Brunell continue to struggle. Ram would have been a mess last night. 2-0 with a break is good.
Please can the wide receiver screen. What is the point?

Offense C- portis looked over matched and so did the running scheme for the most part. Cooley disappeared. Patten had drops. MOSS AND BRUNELL looked good at the end.
Defense B+ Could have been tougher but still played excellent against a pretty good offense. Didnt see enough pressure on the QB and a few too many arm tackles to get the A.
Special Teams C Punts were ok but not up to tupa standards. coverage was weak on kicks.
Coaching B- Gibbs beats Dallas which is why the grade is so high. Poor play calling and lack of imagination from the offense in the first 50 minutes. Defense could have sent a few more blitzes. The calls to go deep were redeeming and so were the looks at the end of the game.
Overall B- Will need to be a lot better to win at home in december. Dallas wont want to drop two in a row. Hopefully we progress more than they do in the time leading up to the next game and that our record shows how much we have done.

Offense - C - vanilla playcalling. Parcells played 8 in the box until he was burned late in the game. 5 sacks and no real run game. Answer - pass more to open things up.
Defense - A- Great play but where was the pass rush?
ST - C - return at the end almost blew the game.
Coaches - B - Gregg Williams had the Cowgirls practicing for the blitz, which didn't come. Total desperation finally causes Gibbs to open up the play book and throw it forward
