Having started 2-0 and gained real momentum by beating Dallas, do you hate that the bye week has come so early?

I sure don't. We got two wins that we were fortunate to pull out and have finally shown some positive flashes on offense that with an extra week of work could really start to develop into something interesting. We also get an extra week to gameplan against an 04 playoff team that should be a challenge and will be a real eye opener if we can dispose of at home. I guess if you could change things then I'd push the bye week back, but now that it's here I don't mind the scenario all that much at all.

i hated it when the schedule first came out but i dont hate it now. i'm just glad we are going into the bye 2 and 0. time to get Brunell comfortable with the receivers and get Lavar up to speed. also get Prioleau, Bowen and Clark healthy. give Taylor some more work at receiver. add some new wrinkles and surprises to the offense, like maybe a 2-back set with a lead blocker.

"I'm glad we have a week to rest some of our bumps and bruises," Jansen said.
Good point about avoiding the short week Patrick.

Besides the needed rest to get players healthy we really need to work on fundamentals. I'm still seeing stupid penalties and we are the only 2-0 team that has a negative turnover ratio. Can't expect to keep winning unless those problems are addressed.

When the schedule was released, I hated the early bye week, but I now think that at 2-0 it is fine. Momentum is a funny thing... What feels like momemntum could be more of an emotional let down should we have played this week. We need to get healthy and correct the two things that could sink us to another 6 win season (penalties and turnovers).
Believe it or not, I think the D has a lot o work to do. I didn't like the way we wilted down the stretchagainst Chicago or allowed dallass to move the ball so well.

I agree completely with this. Fundamentals are something we defiantely need to improve on

I think that the bye week came at the perfect time. Like others have said to heal injuries. Also to get the starting recievers more work with Brunell. With Ramsey being assigned the starter they need more work with Brunell. The most important reason that it is good to have the bye week now, is that Gibbs can see how defenses are really going to play us after these 2 games and hopefully can add a wrinkle or two or open it up a little, but I trust he will get that under control. And lastly for the Special Teams coach Smith to get some things straightened out. I am glad we are 2 -0 bu tall I heard this draft was oh this guy and that guy will be great on special teams and we need to cut this guy or that guy if they are not good on special teams. Our special teams has played average at best with the coverage teams playing far better than the return teams. Maybe during the bye week someone can go dig Antonio Brown up from somewhere and see if a couple of weeks at home has helped his ability to hold on to the ball IMO couldn't hurt.

And also to work Taylor Jacobs into the offense I am telling you if he can stay healthy he is the key to how far we can go.

The bye week comes at a perfect time. The Team will have been in the season for close to a month and still be undefeated. The Staff and Players will have two weeks to prepare (remember what Gibbs could did with two weeks every SB prep time?), Seattle will be coming cross country to FedEx and the two weeks off will not take away the feel good of winning but will give the event some context. Beating the Cowboys on their Homecoming Night was awesome but the last 3:46 can't obscure the rest of the game put in by the offense and special teams. The QB and his recievers obviously need more practice together. Till the final two drives, Robert Royal was Brunell's #1 option for goodness sakes! The offensive line had six penalties on them. Plus, Cooley and the fullbacks disappeared. The field position battle was lost once again by the unspecial teams. And don't forget the game saving tackle by the kicker. Who had an extra five yards from a penalty to work with and should have put it through the end zone not just to the five yard line.
On defense, we have a lot of nicks and bruises to heal. And just as important, we have got to find a pass rush other than from our cornerbacks. LaVar Arrington has apparently faded. Who else do we have that can apply pressure from the edge?

I would have like to have seen the Bye down around week 7, just in case of nagging injuries, but hey, doing out of such an emotional win gives them a high to go into a bye week on. Marshall and Prioleau are banged up from Onday night so this will give them time to heal, plus give Bowen and Clark additional week to get healthy. I just hope we don't need a bye late rint he season.

It works out pretty well. We need to be ready for the next three games. With Brunell showing he can still throw and Gibbs having a little more confidence that less conservative play won't get them into trouble, two weeks of adjustments and game planning, the extra week will definitely help.

I oringially didn't like having a week 3 bye...but now I've changed my mind.
We need two full weeks to prepare for Seattle...and also to begin scouting Denver and KC. Our defense will have to be prepared to face Alexander, Anderson and Priest/Johnson.
If anyone can get this team ready for a bid at 3-0 using two full weeks of prep time, its Joe!

Good point dj. We are entering a rough part of the schedule and the extra time to prepare won't hurt.

I think it comes at the perfect time. I don't think injuries are that serious at the moment, but it will be good to heal. But the most important thing is that I think the two weeks will give time for this win to really sink in, and thenthey can get back to the work of preparing seriously for Seattle. How many times have teams won big games only to have a major letdown the following week. Hopefully, with the extra time, they can prepare properly.

I don't hate it coming off a Monday night game, now we won't have a short work week.

I still think we got screwed overall on the third week bye....
However as lady luck turns out the footbal;l gods have smiled on us. The 2 week bye is needed to not only allow many people to heal, but to calm down emptionally. I remember the boston celtics a few years ago come back from a massive deficit and beat the NJ nets. They celebrated like they won the championship. The next two games they got blown out and lost the series.
We now get to relax, get perspective, and focus on Seattle. Otherwise Seattle could be a huge let down game.

I thought I would hate the early bye week, but given our emotional win in Week 2 I think it would inevitably lead to a letdown if we had to play again this week. Add in the QB change, a couple of folks who figure to get more playing time after the bye (Arrington, Jacobs) and the need for the offensive coaches to review their conservative play calling and I think the break is coming at just the right time.

I'm w/the masses. I thought it was bad initially but now that its here it is much needed. Brunell can work on his timing w/his receivers, we can get back to fundamentals and not make stupid mistakes (penalties and turnovers), and it allows us to get healthier. Hopefully we can ride the emotional wave right into the Seattle game and get the victory. I know one thing is for sure and that is FedEx will be rockin' that Sunday. Let's re-establish home field advantage and get the win!

its lining up pretty good ... time to heal for the safeties and Jacobs ... time for SCOTT Brunell to work timing with the receivers
yup ... just another sign from above ...

Our defense has been playing ok but it is not playing up to its potential.. We need turnovers and more sacks from them.. We let Bledsoe just pick us apart in the Dalloss Chokeboys game... We need to keep the agression from last year... Our O needs to call better plays to at least get 10 points on the board before the 4th quarter.. Coach Gibbs needs to start running the O more..
