Alright guys and gals. Heres part two of my take on the pos. review.
This will be a great story to watch unfold during training camp. With the departure of our beloved Big Country, Mr. Stephen Davis, it'll be interesting to see if the Redskins go with the "Runner by committee" or settle on one RB and a third down back.
As soon as Trung was signed, he was labled as the Redskins starter. As unfair that was to Betts, it should lite a fire under him to have a strong TC. Could this be the second coming of Davis unseating Skip Hicks as the starter? Ladell reminds a lot of people of a younger Davis.
Is there a spot left for Watson? I'm not to sure. And I can't wait to see what Rock does this year. The same goes with Johnson. We have two studs at FB who doesn't get their respect. Both guys can catch out of the backfield.
Make sure to read article following this post. This one is written by Spence. Very good article.

I honestly think Canidate will start, but i think by mid-season, Ladell Betts is gonna prove to be the better back. Morton will see time as a third down back. I think watson will be heading out the door.

I see Betts winning the RB battle. The only thing that could cause him not to win the battle would be his catching abilities out of the back field. And speed too. I hope Canidate wins the job. I want some speed out of the back field, which we haven't had in a very long time.

This position will be the most intriguing position battle of the preseason. Canidate comes in as the house favorite, but Watson and Betts certainly have a chance to knock him off. All eyes will be on Patrick Ramsey, of course, but since the team is determined to give him the starting QB job anyway, I think the tailback position should feature the best battle in the preseason.

I think Canidate will win the Job..great article btw....the part about Morton being untested is intresting. I thought he played some tailback for the saints and did well? I might be wrong but I thought I read that somewhere.

I dont think so Tex. That was a major reason for him wanting to come to the Redskins to play. We offered him a fair shot of more playing time. Something the Jets didn't want to do since they have Curtis Martin.

This si no doubt the most contentious position in camp. I think this tops the third WR spot and Safety, as far as camp battles. here you have foru gusy battle for one of the more important starting spots on the roster.

I really can't see, Morton playing a factor in the battle but I think Betts will give Trung a run for his money but I think SS has already decided

Only reason why i would disagree with your statement Jeff is because of Spurrier's comments and press snippets during mini-camps. Those snippets included positive statements on Morton and that Morton looked the strongest of the bunch. I still do nto think Morton will win the job, but i woudl not discount him either.

i think trung will the starter because thats why the skins brought him here. i want to see betts win the job cuz i like what i sawfrom him last year. i just hope that whoever wins the job, excels at it so we dont have to see runningback by committee.

To me this is the best competition that will be going on. I don't like the fact that Trung was named the starter after being signed. Especially considering how Betts and Watson finished the season. Alot of people here prefer Betts but I like Watson. He showed me alot last season but I feel he may be the odd man out this season. Trung is considered the starter, Betts was a 2nd round draft pick last year and Morton was bought in to return punts. That means Watson has to work really hard to earn a position on the team. To me, that's a shame.

I gotta agree with you on that one hail. I liked Watson too. He kinda had a Rodger Craige running style IMO. I got nervous when we started bringing in RB's. I just hope that it is a fair battle in camp.
If the coach could name the starting running back in preseason without a "TRUE BATTLE" then  ..................... Skip Hicks would have won the job by an landslide in 97'......:smash:
And for the record....... On Madden 2003, if you have made all of the current trades, cuts and signings, Watson fits better than Trung with our offense. He gets to the holes just as they open and he can break tackels better too. (not that this matters much but you guys should give it a try. ;) )

I still believe its going to be Trung as the starter....Morton as the 3rd down back and Watson will be cut. He is still in Spurrier's dog house for that crappy no catch against the cowboys.

I think the team will keep all 4 running backs. Especially considering that they are all untested. Canidate will start but be pushed by Betts. Morton will play 3rd downs and Watson will get some shots if/when the others struggle or get hurt. For the money he costs and the fact that he plays special teams it will be hard to cut Kenny. Of course if the passing game is clicking Spurrier might not ever call a running play anyway.

I see Ladell pulling a Stephen Davis and taking the job from Trung

Rumors are flying that Canidate looks so bad the team has even considered cutting him before training camp. Cerrato denied that on WTEM yesterday, but my bet is that Trung better get his ass in gear and have a good preseason or he's toast.

Repeating what I said in a different thread, we won't get 150 carries, maybe not even 100.
