So I am off to bartending school for two weeks this coming monday. I am really looking forward to it because I am looking for a fun job, or at least something better than my last one. I am also doing this because I hope to one day open my own sports bar here in Ocean Isle. There isn't one anywhere near here unless you wanna drive 20 min and risk the DUI on the way back from the games. This place gets bigger every year with people moving in from all over an I know they wanna see their team play, so I believe it will be a worthwhile venture. The bartending school in Raleigh supposedly made the list in Maxim for the best schools in the US and it sounded like a blast on the phone. The guy told me that if I take the late classes they basically turn the place into a night club with music and so-forth to really give you the true bar atmosphere.

Has anyone else done this and if so how did you like it?

If you need volunteers to come sample your drinks, give us a call. We'll be there. :D

I come from a family of bartenders...
what I've learned?
You're going to make a lot of money, but don't get sucked into it. It's hard to leave such good money. The benefits are minimum.

The way it is here if you are a golf cart attendant during the day and a bartender at night you stand to make 100g's a year LOL.

Yep In between here and south Myrtle there are about 70 golf courses and that isn't counting wilmington to the north of me.

I would like to hear from you when you start the course that covers bartender wisdom 101. Some of the best advice I ever got was from bartenders, or maybe it just sounded good because of the alcohol.....
