Well right now we are looking pretty thin on the secondary. Especially with Prileou and Harris both being out. That leaves Jimoh/Stoutmire/Clark as our only reserves for DBs. We are definately going to need to pull up someone from the practice squad. Im extremely worried if we go in with what we have right now. We dont have the depth at CB to contain their 3-4 wide receiver sets.

We would have to release someone from the active roster in order to pull someone up from the practice squad. I don't know who else we can release considering we are already carrying two kickers.

We also have to put someone every week on the inactive roster for the game, i was kinda thinking of one of those guys. Heck i dont even know if we have a DB on the PS. But if we dont pickup someone then our guys are going to be extremely tired if the defense has to stay on the field for an extended period of time.

Hall, Harris, Prioleau and Campbell will be 4 of the 7 inactives, the first three by virture of injuries. When you have so many injuries, it makes picking your inactives a little easier. Others are likely to be Nemo again, maybe Zak Keasey and one of the O lineman, like Molinaro.

I think we'll see Taylor playing corner with Stoutmire or Clark at safety before we see Jimoh on defense.

Taylor doesn't have the change of direction or quickness to play on the corner, IMO. I would have to see his skills wasted out there on a WR. It's time for Jimoh to do his job and since he is always going to be active (ST's), he needs to step up and stop being abused.

Interesting.
I kinda wish I thought that was the case as well.

That will work for 3 WR sets, but if they put 4 out there, then you would have Taylor/Stoutmire as corners with Clark/Bowen back there.
Right now the secondary has me really worried, but i think GW will do more blitzing so they dont have to cover the WR as long.

I was thinking the exact opposite, since he doesn't have enough cover people, that he will continue to drop LB's into coverage and not blitz so much to aid in coverage.

See i thought this way at first, but if we dont get any pressure with our front 4 then i really think GW will try to bring more pressure. I think Hasselbeck can pick us apart(better than bledsoe), but he chokes when he gets pressure on him.
Now that i think about it, i can see him using a mixture of both. Thats why he is the best. Tho im still worried.

Hmm i just pulled this off of KFFL, it makes me feel a whole lot better if GW is comfortable with what we got.
Redskins | Team Might Carry Four Cornerbacks
Sat, 1 Oct 2005 09:55:45 -0700
Jason La Canfora, of the Washington Post, reports the Washington Redskins are comfortable carrying four cornerbacks for the Week 4 game against the Seattle Seahawks. Assistant head coach for defense Gregg Williams could rotate several players into the nickel role. FS Ryan Clark, FS Sean Taylor, and FS Omar Stoutmire could all fill in. Williams hasn't ruled out activating a defensive back from the practice squad, either SS Curry Burns or CB Dimitri Patterson.

where is rufus brown when you need him....of course we'd be better off with no corner than with him
Its ashame we don't have wilds anymore

Taylor is already used very much like a corner, it wouldn't be a very big stretch if he played in the nickel slot. Taylor matched up one on one against Randy Moss plenty of times in our last game in 04 and looked fine. I think he could handle Jurevicious or Warrick with ease on Sunday. Stoutmire also has some corner skills I believe.
I think that's the reason we're comfortable carrying Jimoh simply for his special teams abilities, GW knew this scenario would likely present itself so he's gotta have a solid plan for what we're gonna do.

I reckon that's probably the most important thing to remember. This can't be a surprise. There's a plan.
We'll be ok.

Ok, well this question has been answered. The Skins called up CB Dimtri Patterson from the practice squad and released Zak Keasey. I really liked Keasey, I hope he finds it back onto our squad sometime soon. But we have another CB active for the game so Jimoh should not be allowed on the field on defense, PHEW...
I don't have a link, this came off a Redskins press release.

I think that GW is going to help in coverage and also biltz . GW is probably have help in certain situations depending on the position on the field and what down it is.

Well, we had plenty of backups at linebacker already, and we needed at least three corners.
I still would rather have Wilds over Jimoh, though.

Ok i can live with this. Keasay will likely be placed onto the practice squad(if he doesnt get signed off of waivers).

Yeah then we can bring him back to the active roster once we get rid of Novak or put Hall on IR.

I think Taylor can man coverage just about anyone, expecially when you think your going to be matching him on the #2-3 WR's. I would much rather see ST on coverage than Jimoh.

You all got to understand something, when they go 4 wide, that doesn't mean we are going man up coverage on 4 guys. We will either be in a nickel or dime with zone coverage. We can drop 6 or 7 guys into coverage if we have to, Hasselbeck is not much of a running threat. Or, we can send an all out blitz. There are many possibilities and I'm sure Gregg Williams, with 2 weeks to study, will have this defense prepared.
Just sit back and enjoy, unless you are at the game, in which case, you need to be LOUD!

excellent point.
if you're at the game, BE LOUD. That means every time they have the ball, even if we're losingand the offense has been looking lousy all game...
not that I expect that to happen.

I'm more concerned with stopping S. Alexander. We contain the run first then pressure Hasselbeck into poor decisions. I'm hoping to see some of the "new" blitz packages this week.

safeties in this defense have to be versatile, blitz well, defend the run, and cover. Bowen was covering Meshawn during the 4th quarter, and he's one of the weaker covering safeties but did a good job in tipping the pass away late in the game. our safeties are good and can replace the loss of corners, but losing Harris will hurt more then losing Prioleau as we now have a rookie starting and Jim-uh-oh at nickel.

I figured Stoutmire or Patterson would be starting at nickel?

or Taylor, technically Jim-uh-oh would be listed as the 3rd corner as we have only 3 healthy ones, but i'm pretty sure G. Williams won't put the team in jeopardy by putting him out there in an extended role. but i think we'll see a couple plays with him in there.. scarily.

Keasey has an upside. We should keep him and cut Jimoh.
