It is..they knew what they were getting and what risked they were taking when they took him from the Jags.....I guess you could chalk it up to bad luck but man this is a big blakc eye on the FO.

it is a shame for Tony as he is going to miss a huge chunk of his career, the Texans will recover but I think it has to be hard on Tony, not that he will be hurting for money but I think he really wanted to play

Demonstarting my fiscal ignorance :smash:
- Can anyone tell me does Tony B actually get all that money when he retires or do the Texans just have a hit against their overall cap figure for this year and next?
I'm confused(nothing new!)   :whoknows: :whoknows: :whoknows:

No he only gets the guarenteed money..what ever that was in his contract..the rest is only play money that effects the salary cap. For a team starting from scratch taking that big a hit is a huge step back. This team should have the lowest salary cap yet they already will have some huge dead money.

I do not fault the Texans FO as this was a gamble worht the price. If it would have went the other way they could have had one of the best tackles in the game and gave up on compensation for him. It seems it did not work out but I don't think it was the wrong move, even though it seems to be right now but it wasn't back on expansion draft day

I thought there was an NFL insurance policy that pays the Texans back for a career ending injury.
(similar to Albert Belle with the Orioles)
I don't feel bad for the Texans...like Texskin said, they knew what they were getting into, and they had their own doctors check him out. Shit happens. We got skrewed by deion when he retired (or when snyder signed him, but that's another point). This stuff happens all the time.
I don't think that the NFL should use those figures against the cap. Let the team pay the man, but with no cap implications.

I think we barely stopped paying for Deion, cap wise, this year.
