Someone gave the boy the bear a few days earlier. I hope they nail whoever put the gun in there

"We are critized a lot for screening grannies and babies: 'Why are they checking this? My two-year old isn't a terrorist.' This underscores the need to screen everyone and everything," said Johnson.
This just highlights the effect of 9-11 and terrorism as a weapon.
And while this particluar incident may be totally unrelated to terrorist activity it is just a continuing reminder that what started on September 11 is still with us in a very ugly way!
I am a great believer in personal freedom, and it frosts my ass to know we must surrender some of those freedoms as a result of terrorist acts.

As a parent of a 10 year girl, I worry alot about what kind of world she will know. That is just the way it is, sad but true

I find it interesting that the fmaily was questioned and then "sent on their way." DOes this mean that they don't think there is a possibility that they knew it was in there?

Tex, don't let the world of today keep you from starting a family. This world needs good kids too. Its up to the parents what kind of children they raise. You do a good job with them and they'll be alright.
I'm sure you're worried more about the other people but thats just a part of life.

I agree Mike... I have two young girls (4 yrs and 5 mo) and I am determined to equip them to change the world and make it a better place. The problem with the world isnt only that there are bad people... but that the good people are too quite and passive, thus allowing the bad people to run the show.
My girls are gonna kick some butt one day!

I hear ya Kevin. My son is 6 years old and he won the "citizanship" award in kindergarten. If you spend the time with your children they'll turn out to be productive citizens.

I just don't know about that. I'm 28 and I have NO desire to have children for a few reasons...one I was physically abused by my father, and the other is the way the world is.
I've seen some of the best parents fail because "the rotten apple spoils the bunch". It's true. And now, half of the barrel is spoiled, not just one or two. Good parenting is at an all time low. I don't want my kid going through that.
I'm petrified about how this world will be.
i have alarms on EVERYTHING, and I think twice before I yell at someone that did something moronic. People will kill you for your shoes, or just for initiation or something. An argument is good enough for some people.

I am sorry jsarno for what you had to go through...but these boards alone do show that there alot of good people out there. I said it more in sadness then anything but I plan to have children. Like the guys said we all need to have children that are good so one day they can help the world to be better.

"Train up a child in the way he should go; and when he is old, he will not depart from it." - Proverbs 22:6
I guess I am crazy, but I believe this... and live by it. Many dont... and the evidence proves that... but it doesnt change the fact that it works.

I agree, i believe it too, Skinz. Thing is when I was in school and you got mad at someone it was a fist fight now kids are carring weapons to school and that scares the heck out of me. But as said I try to teach my girl to do what is right and hope everyone else does to
