I know this whole one week at a time thing, and I don't think we should overlook anyone or anything, but after this fairly unexpected 3-0 start, I was thinking about how we could get into the playoffs this year. I think 9-7 will do it. In order to do that:

Won first 3.

Win 1 of next 2 against Broncos or Cheifs, 4 wins.

Win 1 of next 2 against 49ers, Giants 5 wins. (I think we can beat the Giants also, though)

Win 1 of next 2 against Eagles and Bucs 6 wins.(2 tough games, can make up with wins against Giants&49ers in weeks 7-8)

Win 1 of next 2 against Raiders and Chargers 7 wins. (I think we can pull off both games, Chargers will be tougher.)

Win 1 of next 2 against Rams and Cardinals 8 wins. (Again, I think we can pull off both, but both are on the road, I consider this like the Denver/KC 2 weeks)

Win 1 of next 2 against Girls and Giants 9 wins. (Both winnable games at home.)

Last game against Eagles, depending on how well we do in our other conference games, could determine who wins the NFC East.

In any case, I think we can lose that last game against the Eagles and still make it to the playoffs. 9 wins is what it will take, I think.

What are your thoughts on the rest of the season? Will one win every other week do it for us?

I think we have a good shot to go 11-5, with losses to Eagles, Chargers, Bucs, KC, and maybe another NFC east game.

Overall, I think if we can pull 1 of the next 2 out, we will make it to the playoffs. Thats my prediction for right now. If we can win at either Arrowhead or Mile high, we can get to the playoffs.

We shall see.

Playing the NFC West this year really helps out this team. Playing the AFC West really hurts. I can't wait to see what happens during the NYG game to see if Manning is legit or not. This team has a good chance of making the playoffs with this great start, but it is still very early and we still have a long way to go. Anything can happen from this point.

Go back to the one game at a time and looking only to the next game.
WAY to early to start the senerio thing.

If this team doesn't make the playoffs at this point, it will be a disappointing season. PERIOD. For me it all comes down to how we do against the NFC East (iggles, dallass, and gints).

The iggles are still cream of the crop IMO, but beatable. Plus they may (or may not) be resting starters come the season finale.

dallass might be in a tailspin after we beat them. They almost lost to the niners and got rocked by that defensive juggernaught, oakland. we should beat them in our house.

The games against the gints are HUGE. We need to sweep them.

We could lose both denver and KC and still feel pretty good about ourselves as long as we beat the niners. I said all along that we needed to be 4-2 out of the gate, but I'd love to 5-1 (or better).

I think we match up well against the Bucs, and a game that we can when. I know the Bucs are 4-0, but I think they are alittle overrated. Stop their running game and you will beat them, like the lions nearly did. Our defense can contain their offense, our offense just has to be consistant and don't turn the ball over. Our only problem I think is that we had an early bye week, it's a tough schedule and I hope that we can stay fresh and injury free.

I see the Bucaneers turning out very similar to the Seattle game. TB's offense is not as good as Seattles, but the defense is better. I agree if we can stop the running game, and rattle Griese, we can win that game. But its on the road, and they're gonna want payback from last season. Portis is going to have a tough game, and Brunell is going to have to be on top of his game to pick apart that defense. I imagine it will be a low scoring game.

And we're not players, so there's nothing wrong with looking ahead :P

How bad is Carnell's injury? I don't see him any team being as big of a threat as SD, Denver, and Seattle. We can beat Philly... will it be akin to climbing Mt. Everest backwards in the nude... maybe, but we can do it.

but we're fans, we're allowed to look forward. its not like we are actually gonna go out on the field and play. the players should look at it one game at a time. the fans can look at different scenarios if they want, its all apart of being a fan

With predictions come expectations, and with expectations come letdowns, no matter what happens. The second anyone, be it fan or player, concedes a game, then you have lost the complete confidence in your team that is the mark of a true fan. I myself expressed doubts just yesterday about whether we can beat Denver, but I won't let myself think we can't win, because that just ruins everything.

The Eagles are more beatable this year than they have been for us in the past 4 years. For me it comes down to: "Can we win at least 6 more games to finish at 9 - 7". Thats a possible wild card and the way the NFC is going so far it looks like that could be very possible to get in.

I think it is gonna take 10-6 at least this year. The giants and a lot of other teams are doing fairly well.
