But where are we in overall Offense and Defense? That's what I'd like to know.

After only three games that is pretty impressive if you ask me.

Yep, and 14th in Total Offense. Oh and 5th in total defense.
I think we are on to something. Bring on the donkeys.

At some point that has to translate into rushing TDs. You can't be a top ten rushing team and not rush for touchdowns.

That defensive stat looks strong because of our run defense. Unfortunately we are 16th in pass defense. Ouch.

Look for that to improve next week, Plummer makes a LOT of mistakes and if we can capitalize on those mistakes we can be on the road to that "P -word". Too early for that word though.

those are great rankings. it seems the offense has greatly improved and the defense has very slightly declined. i think the special teams have improved too though, so that should all equate to more wins.

There is an old saying that goes as follows:

There are three types of lies. Lies, damn lies, and statistics.

You can pull stats to prove anything and everything under the sun. One could show you our sack and turnover statistics and say we are nearly a top 5 defense. One could look at our lack of success in the red zone and say we aren't a good offense.

My only point is that while we've done some good things this season, we absolutely MUST improve if we are to make the post season.

That defensive stat looks strong because of our run defense. Unfortunately we are 16th in pass defense. Ouch. That's not so bad. It is common for good defenses to be ranked much higher against the run than against the pass. Once teams figure out they can't run, they usually throw a lot. That translates into a lot of passing yards and the defensive ranking against the pass falls. But since most of those yards are between the 30 yard lines and don't result in scores, it matters little.

The only stat I am able to look at and say 'Wow' is the 3-0 and -4 turnover ratio. Wow, we have won games despite making costly turnovers. Cant wait till we 'get' a couple turnovers.

Every game we seem to do a little better on offense so the rushing TDs will come. Portis needs a few of them its been too long.

I could care less what the rankings are. The one i'm concerned with though is the score rankings.

We're #27 ranked in scoring. 14.3 average...

We could be in trouble if he rolls out (which is guaranteed). He's crazy good rolling out. Not as much in the pocket.

GW can definitely scheme to disrupt rollouts to Plummer's favorite side and either force them to rollout to the other side so he has to throw against his body or stay in the pocket. Plummer isn't so big he can take many hard knocks in a game and stay together. He does rattle and get scattershot as a result.

I am less worried about anything Denver does in the passing game than them cutting C-Griff or Salavea and us getting killed in the run-game or losing player to a cheapshot knee injury.

If Miami can score 34 points against this powerful  team, and then hold them to 10 points, i'm sure we can win this game....

If this easy team can hold Priest Holmes under 75 yards and KC's offense to 10(really only 3 that touchdown was a lst minute pity TD). I think we have reason to consider this game extremely difficult.

BTW...they play KC more recently and in Denver...so it holds a little bit more value in evaluating where they are at.

Portis scoring a couple TDs would help that enormously.

I've been watching Plummer since high school, and your right. But we need to get pressure with our front 4 and maybe 1 blitzer. And we need to hit him early. Do not let him get hot early. And you're absolutely right on making him stand in the pocket. Force him to move the wrong way and we'll be having a good day.

Ok i had to laugh when i first saw the Tecmo bowl hehe that brings back some memories...where did you get that? Anyway yes i do think this will be a tough one but with the O getting better each week or so it seems and the D able to hang with anybody we can hang with anyone IMO

It is a good overall stat, but it is a little false. No TD's, just 17 FD's and a 3.9 ypc average. Also once again we saw a lot of penetration in the backfield when in Goal situations, Portis and Betts will not score many if that does not stop. Sometime pretty soon they need to start scoring and fast.

this is going to be a tough but winable game, Denver's stats are
Offense:
rushing 3
receiving 10
scoring 14

Defense:
rushing 4
passing 18
scoring 10

we need to get some turnovers and penetration on the quarterback, i really wish Lavar and the team could work it out because we could use him for pass rushing. On offense we need to keep being consistent, make holes, and let portis run.

I like our defense stats against the run, I think we need to generate a little more pass rush to help our defense with the pass, especially in obvious passing situations.

i think we will see imrpvoement. mark brunell didnt get a majority of the playing time with the 1st string during the summer, so he needs time to build chemistry with moss(but they've looked good so far) and patten. our offense looked real sharp against seattle, and we were starting to get some plays in vs dallas. i think we will see another good offensive performance against denver. remember, they have the brown's dline....

Agreed. We will have to be on top of our game for 4 quarters and need a little help in the turnover department to win this game IMO.

fast LB's that stay with their assignments are crucial in defending this.

Well, that's what we kept saying after last season, if our offense was no better than middle of the road, we'd be a playoff team......

But I don't think "yards" is a good indicator of success. We need to get positive in the turnover department if we want to win football games.

That's what I thought of when I read about Plummer scrambling. I really hope we blitz Springs a lot and roll Taylor over to his guy, I think that would lead to a Taylor touchdown. It would also be cool to see Lavar spy him, but I can only dream at this point.
